so can Howling twilight...
[/ QUOTE ]
Ignore this tidbit... Howling Twighlight is AWESOME. You can use it to turn a huge spawn to mushiness, especially on teams, and on tar patch. It's another control method to add to the pile
[/ QUOTE ]
Good point, I forgot about that -
Drop stealth, Shadowfall is better in every way stealthwise.
Not to mention Invisibility is a bad choice for masterminds, your minions are not boosted by supremacy if they can't see you.
Vengeance cannot be used on your minions so you could probably get rid of that one.
I would probably skip the leadership pool altogether on a thugs/dark as there are so many better powers in both pools.
Tar Patch, Darkest Night, Petrifiying Gaze are all very useful powers by the way. I would get them myself.
Black hole can be skipped though, so can Howling twilight... -
Hi Flush,
Not that sure about fire melee as my fire tank is not that far along yet, it does seem to do nice damage. A lot of the attacks are AoE however so you may be most effective against packed groups.
Invincibility is a nice armour it's best against smashing/lethal damage and has good defence when your packed into the middle of a group.
It will certainly be an unusual choice but would be very effective against massed mobs I think. -
[ QUOTE ]
ok which is funner then?
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably Necro...
Although Gang War is always fun. -
Odd...
I tried it out when the patch was on the test server and it worked perfectly.
Shall try that out again
Edit:
Tried it out again with my Invulnerable tank and it seems to be working as it should on the Live server.
-
Poison has some excellent debuffs which make those EBs and AVs fall a lot easier.
It does seem to take some time to get going though, so you might have some trouble in keeping your troops alive in the early game.
I like my ninjas, they do need a bit of micro-management though. -
[ QUOTE ]
See, 44% is alot of defence, only 6% of the time will I get hit. However, i'm thinking of swapping medicine for the 2 resist energy/element passives, as it's nice to have solid resistance to stuff too. Thoughts on that?
[/ QUOTE ]
I would hesitate before relying on that 44%, the range on Invincibility is only 8 feet and even with a tight bunch around you if you move even a little you can lose a few out of range.
Not to mention ranged attackers as well as single tough bosses and AVs.
Good resistance along with a large HP pool will be needed. -
Whoops.
I was wrong there, That would be with Invincibility Unslotted
So that should be 20% total defense with 0 enemies in range to 44% with 10 in mellee range.
Still 10% defense to Psi in all situations. -
Hmm. with that setup you would have 18% defense with no enemies in range and 33% with 10 in Invincibility range.
That's including the Unyielding debuff.
Invincibility does cap out at 10 enemies.
You would only have 10% against Psionic though.
Pretty sure my calculations are right, someone nudge me if I'm off the mark. -

some missions are missing smash and lethal altogether.
[/ QUOTE ]
Name one.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm in a mission at the moment full of enemies that do nothing but energy damage, been a few of those recently.
Had others with only neg-energy damage.
[ QUOTE ]
The only one I can even think of is the Psychic Clockwork mission from level 45-50, and even there the mobs can come into melee range and brawl the living daylights out of you.
[/ QUOTE ]
Grr, nasty things.
Had the pleasure of tanking the Psychic Clock-King on my Inv/SS tank once. That was fun. -
Doooom!
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!
[ QUOTE ]
How many of you run Perma-rage on a scranker build, particularly in PvP?
[/ QUOTE ]
I do in pve.
[ QUOTE ]
Basically the end drain crash has just been made unavoidable. That means that you'll still get hit with a -25% end when running "Perma Rage", just like you're hit with the "only affecting self" message currently...
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to say I was unaware of this bug.
[ QUOTE ]
Avoiding the rage endurance crash by running perma-rage has been a known "trick" for years, it's a way to improve the combat strength of your character with the sacrifice that you'll have -defence and not be able to attack every few minutes. I find it very annoying that they've only just decided it's an "unacceptable exploit" now.
[/ QUOTE ]
This does sound far more like a bug than a 'trick' to me.
And tbh the only part of the crash that bothered me was the not being able to attack for 10 seconds.
I'm pretty sure it isn't -25% end though, looks more like a fifth than a quarter?
As nerfs go this seems minor.
I certainly don't see how it is going to hurt the solo-tanker that much. -
Looks good.
A few things:
Consider moving those EndRdx from Fly to Deflection and Insulation shields.
You will be using those powers a lot, especially if you team up.
I have them both linked to the g key so I can quickly bubble a target by tapping g twice, saves time.
You have too many accuracies in the Protector and Assault bots, 2 in each should be more than enough.
For the Protector bots you might want to put a few DefBufs in there, the bubbles they put out do give a significant defense increase.
Before level 32; 2x Acc, 2x Dmg and 2x DefBufs would be good.
When they get the last upgrade at 32 they will start using a lot of endurance so you might want to put an EndRed in there then.
Upgrade Robot could do with another Recharge or two.
EndRdx in Hover? -
- Do I need fitness?
I don't have stamina on my Bots/FF and she runs ok.
That's with Assault, Tactics and Dispersion Bubble running.
I slotted 2 EndReds in Assault and Tactics and 3 in Dispersion Bubble.
- Do I need leadership?
You can do fine without it, but Tactics can be very useful, especially for the +Perception.
- Do I need medicine?
It does help..
- Should I get repair instead of medicine?
Go for medicine first then get repair later if you think you need it and have the space. -
[ QUOTE ]
CJ + maneuvers gives a total of about 5-7% def. Not much, is it? Shadow fall alone gives more (AFAIK) and also gives group stealth and res to nrg/neg/psi/fear. Also, shadow fall and stealth drain about the same amount of endurance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Shadow Fall uses about twice the amount of End as Stealth. -
[ QUOTE ]
The idea of my build is stacking; primarily defense.
I picked Maneuers and Combat Jumping because of this.
[/ QUOTE ]
They will help to some extent especially with the /dark debuffs.
And if your going for super jump then combat jumping is a handy thing to have but the defense it gives is very small.
[ QUOTE ]
Ive always been told, a hidden MM is a good MM, thats why i picked stealth for myself so i can stay in the background, but since im going to do some healing, then stealth would be wiser as Shadow Fall eats up end quickly.
[/ QUOTE ]
Shadow Fall (when slotted with resists) gives 24% resistance to Energy/Neg Energy and Psionics to all in range.
It also is a group stealth and actually gives a larger boost to defense than Maneuvers.
The end cost isn't too bad when you get a couple of SO end-reds in there and I manage to run it all the time on my thugs/dark without stamina. -
[ QUOTE ]
What I wanna know is how to interpret the -10.38 disorient of dispersion bubble, is that magnitude protection or reduction in disorient duration?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's magnitude protection.. -
I don't think Maneuvers will make much difference for ninjas, there certainly shouldn't be a recharge in there.
Assault may give you more IMO.
For Tactics two EndRdx and two ToHits should be more than enough. Certainly no more than 3 ToHits.
Grant invisibility is quite nice and more use for a MM than stealth for sure, unfortunately it does not last that long.
And with a full set of minions you will find yourself spending a lot of time buffing them all.
I do have it on my ninjas/dark but I am considering dumping it... -
The leadership pool can be quite nice, I have Assault and Tactics on my Bots/FF at the moment and i'm planning on swapping Assault for Maneuvers at some point.
Maneuvers does give only a very small amount of defense but can make a significant difference when stacked on top of other defense bufs.
I'm not sure how End-Intensive traps are but I currently don't have stamina on my MM and she does ok.
Thats with 2 end-reds in each (and 3 in dispersion bubble). -
I would be interested in doing this one...
Edit: Sorry going to have to miss this one. Once again real-life(TM) has intruded into CoH. -
Have they fixed Team Teleport then?
The last time I tried that one on my MM it was bordering on useless... -
Thanks to all who were there.
It went pretty well and we finished in just under two hours in total.
I took pics, but they didn't turn out that well -
[ QUOTE ]
Except that Twiglet Grasp won't take Mr. Stompy (Assault Bot) from a tiny sliver of health to 100% in one shot.
[/ QUOTE ]
True.
Although Twilight Grasp will let him continually top up Stompy's health so he never gets that low.
It can also heal all the bots at the same time, which makes it far more useful than repair.
[ QUOTE ]
Neither will Twiglet Grasp kick enough endurance into Stompy to unload a pack of incendiary swarm missiles at that Malta Sapper and his close personal friends that have taken an unhealthy interest in you and your minions.
[/ QUOTE ]
True.
[ QUOTE ]
OK, so it recharges at a glacial speed. <shrug> Save it until you really need that big pulse of health applied to one of your minions. Or use to to keep one of your Protector Bots kicking, since they seem to heal other bots in preference to healing each other.
[/ QUOTE ]
The recharge and activation times are the main problem with repair.
If one bot gets in trouble and you use repair and then another gets hit badly.. then your stuck with the prot bots for keeping it going.
Also if you wait too long before using it then in the time it takes to activate the bot could be destroyed leaving you in trouble.
[ QUOTE ]
It is NOT useless. And saying that someone has no need of it just because they're /dark is a tad on the broad sweeping statement side of things.
[/ QUOTE ]
No one is saying that it's useless.
But between Twilight Grasp and the Prot-Bots heals he will very rarely need it and there are better things to spend the power slot on. -
That's great
