You make good points. I guess what I was trying to say was that I would like more variety of things to spend Inf on. Purples don't really appeal to me, I slowly grab one or two as I go, rather than making a concerted effort to get them which would require a large Inf balance. The other things I either have, or am satisfied with on this toon. I'm still grasping for an idea of what those new things to spend Inf on could be, perhaps purchases of temp emote powers (the hire-a-limo emote that also doubles as a zone transport method), or an amusement park (good both to spend Inf on rides for your toon and for saving people from the roller-coaster), maybe charitable causes (fixed in-game charities). As you can see, I'm struggling.
Considering how many different ways there are in the real world for a fool and his money to be parted, having less than a dozen in-game strikes me as odd.
There ya go, that's my 2 Inf. -
NCSoft have branched into T-shirt merchandise with the standard Arachnos or Statesman Star T's. Then there are the Hero-Con T-shirts as well. They don't do what you suggest though, and I agree, they should! It would be quite the project, but would make many players gleeful.

Quote:Define "plenty". Apart from costume changes, insps, enhancements, recipes, what else is there apart from Base improvement to spend Inf on? I'm happy with this toon's costume, the rest will barely make a dent in his current balance, let alone if I get anywhere near the amount mentioned for the Luck of the Gambler. What else is there for a Killbot about town to blow his Inf on?There's plenty of stuff to buy with it.
Out of curiosity, do you mean spending the inf on prestige? If so, why do that? It's vastly more efficient to run around in SG mode.
That's why I was thinking of using it on my base, despite the ludicrous exchange rate, because I can't think of anything else. I've stood around handing out millions to new players sometimes. Just seems the game's a little cash-rich since the Market system was implemented IMO. -

Oh, you think that sucks? I'll tell ya what sucks, having a bunch of money on my Visa Credit Card ready to plonk down on a 5 mission slot MA expansion at the NCSoft store and getting the response, "Payment could not be accepted for your order."
Ya know, I'd feel okay about this if I had no credit on the card, if it was an obscure card, or, and here's where things get me really quite irrate, IF IT WASN'T THE EXACT SAME CARD THAT I USE TO HAVE MY SUBSCRIPTION PAID EVERY MONTH!!
So, I feel for you, I'm in New Zealand, and I suspect that is the issue, and I'll wait for Niviene to read her PM's and respond before I get too annoyed about it, but this is the sole outlet for these products, and I can't use it. Colour me miffed. -
Quote:Well, you may be right about them, but from the description you gave they could be any bunch of random players who are power-levelling their toons. Switching on the in-game option to receive email from Friends & Supergroup Only completely eliminated the problem of RMT spam for me.Gold farmers have become very brazen lately. I see them all the time in either the Talos or RWZ AE. They're easy to spot:
* Terrible costumes. Seems like they just pick a set costume set and randomize the color.
* SOs only
* Fire controllers. The group I see are two Fire/Kins and a Fire/FF. One of them have group fly. I'm assuming it's one gold farmer triple boxing.
* They won't respond to you if you send them a tell or try to talk to them in local.
I realize as a player it's not my duty to do anything about these guys, nor do I have absolute proof that they are gold farming (farming influence and selling it back as RMT), but it grates on me nonetheless.
Still, as a player, I don't want to see these guys, especially in something as obvious as an AE center. -
Quote:Thanks Zombie Man! I hadn't even considered a macro because I was so caught up in the idea that Walk had power suppression effects that I didn't think it would work. Thanks though, this'll help alot! Here's your one-click toggle:
/macro Walk "powexecname walk$$powexecname sprint" -

Out of curiousity, what's a Lvl 50 Luck of the Gambler Recipe worth on the open market at the moment? I got one dropped a while ago and vaguely recalled that they were platinum-covered gold bars of silver, but haven't checked, are they still worth a gazibillion inf?

I may be able to make it to part of this test. If so, I'll see you there.

Ooo, had forgotten about this. Badgey Badgey!! *waits expectantly*

So, to summarise, Walk is a much-requested "Power" that allows people to move their toons around at a sedate pace instead of looking like hamsters on uppers all the time. You can jump over low objects with it, but cannot activate any other powers because it is not intended for combat use.
If at some stage they ever get the chance/time/resources to create the many additional animations required for it (and that's a big IF), then they may do that which would allow Walking into combat all staunch-like and then kicking some butt.
The argument that it is a 'waste of resources' is incorrect, as no resources were assigned to it. It was created using 'spare time', that being time when unexpectedly the animation team had a little gap where they were waiting for another to team finish their part of a project.
Have we covered everything? Okay. Now get out there and strut your stuff! -
Quote:Well, I noticed that too, and kinda agree it would be better if they were outlined similarly. In Beta of course it had the exact same icon as Sprint, so this is much better and I didn't wanna moan about it.The issue I have with Walk is a minor one, and mostly shows the depths of my not-quite-OCD...
It's the icon, see. It doesn't match the others. The little guy has actual feet and the border around him is sharp, not anti-aliased. Compare to Sprint to see what I mean.
I know it's very possible that the person who did those icons back in Issue -1 isn't even with Paragon Studios anymore, but... I want my little Helvetica Man/pill person to look like all the others. -
The only addition to Walk that I'd really like to see is the facility to deactivate it by simply clicking Sprint or using the key command for same. Mainly that's because if I'm walking somewhere and I then want to 'leap into action' Sprint is the first power I instinctively go for.

Essentially the idea that roleplaying is like pizza with everyone liking their own mix of ingredients is a nice one. I like pizza. I like roleplaying. I've never roleplayed a pizza though, now there's a challenge.

I thought you were refering to the ikee iPhone virus that changes the users background image to a pic of Rick and the phrase, "ikee never gonna give you up". Guess it goes to show we're not safe from rick-rolling anywhere!

Thanks for suffering through the second half of my story GlaziusF. I appreciate you playing something that was obviously not very satisfactory.
To clarify the plot; In Part One Nemesis gains access to Rikti mind-control technology and uses it to control the mind of the Clockwork King. With this control he gets the King to create Amped Clockwork who are indirectly under Nemesis' command. This has the unintended consequence of compartmentalising the mind of the Clockwork King causing his psychic powers to begin affecting regular electronic devices and sends him off on a psychotic rampage across Paragon. Your contact 10N3R is a new Amped Clockwork who the King has actually managed to maintain partial control over, and hence he asks for your aid to sort the situation out. He is a Spanner In The Works.
In Part Two with Paragon's technology back under control and the Nemesis plot foiled you are contacted by Nemesis as he doesn't want anyone other than himself to have access to the Amped. Through the course of the investigation you learn that Black Scorpion, chief robo-master of Arachnos has also discovered the Amped's existance and is funding the Clockwork King to create an army of Amped Arachnotroopers. Luckily you investigated despite being contacted by Nemesis who at first blush is a villain a hero wouldn't work with/for. Because if you hadn't then the self-replicating Amped Arachnotroopers would very soon have spread across the globe with the aid of Arachnos.
tl;dr version: Nemesis gains control of Clockwork Kings' minions and creates new ones, Nemesis loses control of said minions, Black Scorpion gains control of the Amped, you pummel Black Scorpion to stop them.
Hope that helps understand a plotline that I now see was too convoluted. -
They turned that off huh? Meh. I have much more important things to worry about.

I see that power description of Walk says, "Activating this power enables you to walk at a relaxed pace. You will not be able to activate most powers while walking."
- What are the powers you can use?
- Also, we canz have low jumps while walking nao...awesomes!
- Transition to Falling animation mucho better than the speed-pedalling of last patch! Somehow I'll kinda miss it for the lols.
- Jumping while in Walk mode (Walk + Forward or R + tap Space don't hold) from water to land results in a little 'walking on air'.
- Jumping from land to water (actually occurs with any jump) while Walking backwards (Walk + S + Space) results in character spinning to face backwards as they go through the air, looks weird.
- Can still get targetting reticle for Assemble the Team in Walk mode, although actual power isn't executable.

Quote:It's more a personal preference based on readability. I prefer smoother edged fonts as each character seems more separate from the others. Otherwise, a nice resource for Co*.I logged on, saw that there were more replies to this thread, and my heart rejoiced. ^o^ A big "thank-you" to The_Killbot_5000, ReclusesPhantom, and Calibre for posting opinions!
Also, I do want to address the point about the site font that The_Killbot_5000 brought up: is it a personal preference issue, or a readability issue? Though I have tested the site design on every browser available to PCs, I have not tested it on a Mac, and thus was unsure of how the font choice might translate on a different operating system with different default fonts. Don't want all the cool content translating into random symbols and such! -
Oceanic heroes have to six-slot Sunscreen with Protection from Melanoma IO's!

Quote:The idea of the signature heroes occaisionally moving off their pedestals to fight crime/slay zombies/defend earth is a good one. They could have map markers to show their current location as mentioned. Also, at their original position could be holographic stand-ins of them which still dole out the TF's for anybody who didn't notice/can't be bothered. I'd spend money on developing this, it adds an extra layer of depth and realism. It's naturally just a QoL level improvement really, but if fleshed out with some severe AI and the ability to 'team-up' with the signature heroes (and villains redside of course) it would almost qualify as a feature.Or just add a map icon for TF/Trial contacts even when you aren't on the TF. It would be a nice QoL improvement even if they aren't running all over the place. I've pretty much learnt where they all are now but when I was new finding them was really annoying.

Welcome to the big time! Nobody said heroing was easy!
I'll admit there are plenty of moments when you just have to suspend disbelief in the game. Actually, considering it's a superhero MMO, I think you agree to suspend disbelief in the Terms and Conditions.
Oh, one more thing that'll freak you out. You know those bus stops that you always get caught up in when you're running somewhere heroically? Well, where are the buses man? Where are the buses??
