Oh yeah, no I know that we have it there and will likely be able to add it to AE. I want a system from CHAMPIONS ONLINE where we run into the arch nemesis randomly - kinda like CO but improve on it a bit. Also eventually have missions based on your doppleganger or arch-enemy. It seems CO took a lot from CoX so we can take the best of that game (which isn't too much ).

It would be nice if the DEVS could give us a month for GR release. July 20 (Amazon notes this as an availability date for GR) doesn't seem possible anymore.

I really hope there is some really new stuff to this game. Side switching is cool but that will become old very quickly if you're doing the same stuff. The mission style has been the same for 6 years - time to really add some big changes. We have a ton of these current missions. Hopefully the new stuff will be new innovations and new maps so the game feels new/different
  2. I really hope the doppleganger tech is also used outside of AE - much like the Nemesis system on CHAMPIONS ONLINE.
  3. It's nice of you guys to add another item. I will never use it but the gesture is nice.

I think this pack is very light. Not even a full set of pieces on either version. It's disappointing and many of us noted these concerns before. Therefore, I think the best way to express my opinion is with my money. I don't think I will be buying this pack. It's just not enough in there for $10.
  4. Very disappointing set. I think it's as weak as the science pack. I have every item you can purchase when it comes to collectors and boosters (broke down and got science) but this one is very weak. I really think these guys need someone new to create costume pieces. These look like variations of things we have and this pack, so far, is one I will pass on. Boosted disappointment.

I've also been on several where the "stealther" keeps dying and we have to plow through anyway...
Oh for sure, the stealther isn't 100% but almost every team I've been on prefers the quick route. I guess after doing the same TF/SF for the umpteenth time, you want to get the badge and move along...quickly.

Yeah, sorry, you and I agree to disagree on this. Fair enough. I'm at 27-ish months on this game and I've done Synapse maybe 4 times. That one is not fun at all.
  6. I don't care who wins the Cup but I might lean towards Philly. Dustin Byfuglen has no class and is a bit of an ****. Can't cheer for that guy. However, Philly has Chris Pronger.... which way to go...hahaha

Also looks like hockey is really gaining momentum again. NBA kinda sucks these days and it is tough watching baseball on most days. I like MLB but man oh man...

I agree. I have yet to meet someone who is more than happy to do all of the older TFs but I am sure those players are out there. I also think I will find Big Foot before I find one of those players but you do make a good point
  8. Also, for TFs and SFs in general, how fun can they be when people do not go on them unless they can stealth all of the stealth-able missions? To me, that speaks volumes. The Devs really have to put a bit more effort into these things and a bit more work. Well connected storyline and original maps make TFs/SFs way more appealing.
  9. I think the devs failed because they gave us so little to do over the last year. Not too worried about the OP's points.
  10. I have to agree, this TF stinks. The SF isn't much better. It seems rushed and, once again, uses a lot of the same old maps/scenery we have seen for years.

This game has been going downhill in many ways and this TF is an example why. It rivals the older TFs in regards to enjoyment - sad when you consider it's the second most recent add to the game. These guys really need to think twice when launching stuff.

  12. I'd like a wiki for OUR toons only. Their stories and how/if they tie into the CoH canon/lore.
  13. How would a non-purple fire/fire/mace dom work out? I play casually and don't have the cash to make these builds (when are they going to do something about the damn market lol). Anyway, is this still the best DPS toon if you're not using purples?
  14. I cannot believe this thread is going. Too funny. The O.P. makes a mountain out of a mole hill (get a life, dude) and then we turn that mountain into a mountain range! Excelsior!

As for those who prepurchased because they were too impatient to wait for closed beta and are now complaining about the items in the complete edition box....haha, you got baited into an obvious marketing ploy. Couldn't feel sorry for you even if I tried.
I am shocked people are actually surprised and disappointed by this move. NC Soft is here to make a buck...bottom line. It seems many MMOs have used this same type of business model to soak as much cash as they can from you. What shocks me even more is that some people think NC Soft views them as more important than the buck in their pocket. Nope. They don't. They're a business and, sadly, that's how business tends to work. Ethics, morals, scruples and their fellow man mean about as much to them as the gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe. Get it over it, people. If you're really ticked over this then stop giving them money...it's the only way they will hear your voice

As far as blue side goes, they really have more than enough. As of Issue 17, heroes have 4 Task Forces in the level range 10-25, 6 if you count the first Respec and the Cavern of Transcendence.

One point I do agree with: we need new stuff to do at lower levels. I don't agree that Task Forces are the solution, but you can only retrieve relics for Azuria so many times. Insert standard "blueside need low-level content revamp".
Ok well I know there is stuff at these levels but after so many years there needs to be more. Maybe not the traditional TF/SF - maybe a quicker version? More story arcs? Open missions? Some innovations in the lower levels? Everyone has to go through them and I am just tired of doing the same old. I have adopted the PL into the 20's approach. GR will help but when so many people are at these levels, there has to be more. I am quite confident GR will not add enough
  17. I find it odd that we don't have more of these. I suspect there is a way higher number of lower level toons around that the ones over 35. So, why not add some level 1-10 TFs/SFs? Some level 10-25 TFs/SFs? I know we have some of this but there should be way more. We all start at level one but not every toon makes it to 50. We need more stuff to do at these lower levels. One of my SGs PL their toons into the 20's + because EVERYTHING in the lower levels has been done...over and over...and over and over...

So, GR will address some of this but it won't be enough. Have some shorter ones on each side and keep adding to them. We get a lot of QoL and fluff adds but it's time to focus on giving us something to do. I know it's more work but that's why you go to work...to work
  18. So, the game is getting a makeover with GR and ultra mode. Another little thing that should be looked at are the log in screens and the load screens when you first log in a toon.

The current splash pages/load screens show some dated looks and they have been the same for years. The Hero screen shows some very dated looks and old versions of the character. These should be updated in a big way. It's all one game now so that should be kept in mind. Also a brighter, bolder and more colorful look would be nice. Every player is exposed to these screens over and over...a slight tweek here could create a newer feel for the game.

It seems like sheer speculation to me. If that is the case, it is not news or information. It's just a guess. And possibly one to irate CoH fans so that they will post comments.

I have seen quite a lot of this kind of behavior going on.
That is to say, these supposed MMO news sites that are filled with articles speculating things that aren't true or just plain posting articles that are completely erroneous just to cause reader feedback to occur.
It seems pretty common in our society now. It makes the writers look good to get feedback - regardless if it is good or bad feedback - and regardless of what the writer has posted involves legitimate information at all.

So either THEY(tm) are trying to "black ball" CoH through misinformation, they are just plain ignorant, poorly researching their subject matter, or fishing for feedback.
    THEY(tm) are spreading misinformation.

If NCSoft isn't posting numbers, then it is all speculation.

If COH::GR can get some good product-facing in stores ... I certainly hope it get some facing in stores.

Anyone want to buy a CoH signature character standee?
These things could be good for store promotions, conventions, etc. Let alone the crazed CoH fans for whatever use that could come to their minds?!

Here's an example of the Boba Fett standee. For a while this was the best selling standee of all time.
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P1JWD0/?tag=hashemian-20

Standees are probably "print on demand" at this point.

PS - Just another idea for the DEVs there. I'm not selling the things. It's just an idea, and I am pretty sure there would be people that would buy them. I'm sure that a row of heroes/villains standing up behind the table at a convention would draw some attention.
I seriously think something needs to be done to bring in new players.

    Standees? Nah.

Was the massively article speculating? Yup, I am sure.

Was the massively article malicious? I don't think so. Massively does a regular feature on CoH almost weekly. They help keep this game in the public's eye. However, I am sure NC Soft did not reveal any sub. info or anything like that so they are doing their own guesstimations.

NC used to be a bit more forthcoming with sub numbers but not lately. That smells a little fishy to me...

Here's the bottom line: If you do not know that a team is looking for more and you ask to join, you're doing it wrong.

If a team broadcasts that it is looking for more, then it is not rude to ask to join the team.

If I'm looking to fill a team, and you have your LFT flag up, I'll ask. If your flag is down or your message indicates you're not interested, I won't ask. Because I am polite and respect the wishes of others.

When you ask to join a team without knowing if it is looking, you're basically walking down the street, knocking on doors until someone lets you in. You cannot convince me that is an action that is respectful of others.

Is there somewhere that tells you what the proper etiquette is for team searches/requests? Not that I know of.

Sending someone a tell in an MMO is not rude (unless the tell itself is rude). An MMO, somewhat like society, is a grouping of different people with different ideologies, beliefs, social mores, etiquette etc. Some may not think you would be offended with a simple tell...others may...we all have varying ideas of what is the proper conduct here. I think most of us deal with it in game and are more than capable of communicating with the person in game. Not very many of us come on the forums to make such comments (based on my observations, of course).

This post is pretty much the definition of 'making mountains out of mole hills'.
  21. It's almost the end of May and they're in friends and fam. beta. They just under 2 months to meet the release date noted by Amazon. Can they do a closed and open beta in 2 months? I wasn't around for CoV so I have no idea. If an Issue can take over a month then how long will closed and open beta take on GR?!

    It's just rude.

    Thanks.
So if someone was to send you a tell you would put them on 'ignore'? Seems a little harsh. Also, it is absolutely, 110% NOT RUDE!

I have absolutely no problem with people sending me tells etc. It's an MMO. Lots of people in game and want to play with others.

Perhaps you should look into a non-MMO type game.
  23. I don't think advertising will be the miracle cure for this game. NC Soft wants to turn a profit and that's the bottom line. I am sure this game isn't raking in huge $ for them but it must be making solid profits. Advertising costs and I can't see them spending huge $ on ads. I doubt we'll see TV ads like WoW or in the theatre/movies.

I honestly think they have to get creative. Let companies run ads in game and make part of the agreement they do a bit for CoX. Things like comic companies (obviously not DC or Marvel) could put ads in their comics in exchange for an ad in game. You could make a stronger relationship with these other comic companies by putting their character in game. For example, have a SPAWN tf/sf that's just a one off and is all about SPAWN and his world/canon. CoX could spin this as an alternate reality thing etc so there is no direct connect with the canon.

Maybe some film companies would put a little ad in their campaign for us if we did the same for them in game.

The big issue is the age of this game. It can't directly compete with the new stuff as far as looks. Advertising has some work to do.
  24. I wish they had left it optional and have the ability to resist it.

The Fool is no good when in critical parts of a mish. Most of my toons are not IOed out and do suffer a bit when I get hit with that fortune. I kinda gave up on IOs due to prices.

They need to release new things to do more often, rather than focusing on large releases. And rather than eliminating things players enjoy, focus on creating more things for players to enjoy. Who cares if some dimwit is getting to 50 in a couple of days, that's not hurting any other players. Why worry about players farming purples or pvp io's, aren't the ridiculous prices in the markets high enough as it is anyway? Hell, I've been a fanatic of this game and I don't even think about trying to get pvp IO's due to their ridiculous prices and drop rates. And speaking of pvp, how can any reasonable person look at the changes done there and consider them a good move?

In short, stop messing with things large segments of the playerbase enjoy, fix the things that nobody likes and release new things to do in a more timely fashion.
I've been saying the same thing for a while now. We have had a lot of 'fluff' adds but nothing new to do. I really think you have to blame the Devs and especially the lead Dev for this. I am amazed at how much insight they lack. I know the game is old but it's still a good game with excellent mechanics. Good for casual and serious players.

I am guessing that's why we have a new lead dev. I just hope WW realized these issues and adds what the players want to the game. Decent start with i17.
