Low Level TFs/SFs
1-10 goes by pretty fast, I don't really see the point for a TF there. Villains could use a 10-15 SF to balance out Posi though, and they definitely need a 30-35 one. As far as blue side goes, they really have more than enough. As of Issue 17, heroes have 4 Task Forces in the level range 10-25, 6 if you count the first Respec and the Cavern of Transcendence.
One point I do agree with: we need new stuff to do at lower levels. I don't agree that Task Forces are the solution, but you can only retrieve relics for Azuria so many times. Insert standard "blueside need low-level content revamp".
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...

Ok well I know there is stuff at these levels but after so many years there needs to be more. Maybe not the traditional TF/SF - maybe a quicker version? More story arcs? Open missions? Some innovations in the lower levels? Everyone has to go through them and I am just tired of doing the same old. I have adopted the PL into the 20's approach. GR will help but when so many people are at these levels, there has to be more. I am quite confident GR will not add enough

Anyway, like I said, I'd love to see other lower level content revised along the lines of the Positron Task Force. Legacy content in this game blows chunks. Yeah yeah, easier to make new content than revise existing content, but new becomes old so fast anyway. They could even advance some of the storylines and shift the old content into Ouroboros.

I have to remember to post my SF idea for the 10-15 range I gave to Posi after PAXEast. It would involve going into King Midas's lair, which would look AWESOME in Ultra mode since damn near everything would be gold-covered.

I have a 50 in every AT, but Scrappers and Dominators are my favorites.
When you say "GR will address some of this" do you mean in terms of there being the new 1-20 content? Or that characters will be able to switch sides and have more to do at lower levels? Because if you mean the latter, side-switching isn't going to be available until lvl 20.
Just wanting clarification.
Either way, more tf/sf wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

Level ranges 10-15:
Bank Shot
Contact: Sebastian Frost (Located somewhere sensible in Port Oakes)
Concept: Frost is looking for a team of ethically vague cohorts to test out information leaked to him about a tunnel system taking you from a warwall vulnerability in Siren's Call to the Steel Canyon bank.
Mission 1: Get the information: Frost sends you to retrieve the plans from his confidant, only to find out that their hideout has been overrun by Outcasts looking for the same information. In this mission you encounter the Outcasts, and have to escort out the confidant to report back to Frost.
Mission 2: Retrieval: Frost arranges for you to be transported by truck through Atlas Park and into the Hollows, where the Outcast leader Frostfire has undoubtedly received the maps. Your task is to beat down Frostfire and take back the maps. (This mission can, obviously, use the Frostfire map)
Mission 3: Hands in the Pot: Frost, ever the one to love a good game of manipulation, hatches a new plan. He orders you to take a duplicate of the plans for the "Siren's Tunnel" and raid a troll cave, "losing" the plans. At the same time he will leak a rumor about the Trolls having their hands on some hot information the Outcasts lost, causing chaos between the two factions. This mission would feature Trolls, Troll Caves, but please dear God NOT the Atta Map. You would have a glowie objective which requires you to "activate" it by depositing the maps in a pile of crap.
Mission 4: Preparing the Heist: Frost has one more order of business before you can test the waters in Siren's. The hullabaloo regarding the theft of these plans has reached PPD's ears, which has caused heightened security at the bank and a hasty refitting of the vault door. To break that vault door, Frost imagines you're going to need some more firepower. And so he sends you to hijack some sonic tech from the Gold Brickers. But not just any old gold bricker hideout. The tech Frost wants is in the vault behind King Midas' throne itself. Which means you may be in for a heck of a fight. And a cool, never before seen AV and map. (Gold bricks everywhere, random scenery from the game completely golden over from the Midas Touch... that would look SICK in Ultra Mode) You get the Midas Gatling Gun, a sonic tommygun capable of short bursts of energy that weaken almost any surface.
Mission 5: Raiding the bank: I would love to start this mission on the shores of Siren's call with a quick jog to the sewer entrance. I love that view from the blasted warwall into the oilrig area. Then using the RWZ mission tech, you could have the sewer system dovetail into a troll cave (alternating Outcasts and Trolls in groups), and into the corner of the lobby of the Steel Canyon bank, where you find the Trolls and Outcasts fighting each other for their chance at the loot, and PPD waiting to stop you. You fight through the bank, knock down the vault, and *BOOM* cutscene. Frost has betrayed you and is attempting to backstab you for the lion's share of the loot. You are left to defeat Pitbull, Frost's lackey, and escape the bank.
Turn-in Reward: Frost plays off the backstabbing as a test of character, saying that he wanted to make sure that you were worth the effort. He pays you your promised portion of the final loot, and waves you off with the escort of security.
Let me know if any of this sounds decent.

Also, for TFs and SFs in general, how fun can they be when people do not go on them unless they can stealth all of the stealth-able missions? To me, that speaks volumes. The Devs really have to put a bit more effort into these things and a bit more work. Well connected storyline and original maps make TFs/SFs way more appealing.

I don't particularly mind kill all missions in TFs, I do TFs partly for the XP anyway and they keep the merits rewards up by limiting the rate you can do the TF but the general structure of the older TFs really disincentives me from doing anything other than the absolute minimum.
TheJazMan can shake hands: I agree. I have yet to meet someone who is more than happy to do all of the older TFs but I am sure those players are out there. |
I've also been on several where the "stealther" keeps dying and we have to plow through anyway...

Pleasedtameetcha! And I've done them plenty of times with no one having stealth and no one complained. I do just go along without complaint when people want to stealth them. I have to assume there's a lot of people out there like me that don't much care one way or another.

Yeah, sorry, you and I agree to disagree on this. Fair enough. I'm at 27-ish months on this game and I've done Synapse maybe 4 times. That one is not fun at all.
I still have fun doing Synapse, but then I'll give my usual disclaimer that I'm kind of weird.
I mostly endure slogging through endless Clocks just to get to Babbage so I can put out the call to the SG and have a bunch of folks come a-runnin'! Most fun part of that TF.

I find it odd that we don't have more of these. I suspect there is a way higher number of lower level toons around that the ones over 35. So, why not add some level 1-10 TFs/SFs? Some level 10-25 TFs/SFs? I know we have some of this but there should be way more. We all start at level one but not every toon makes it to 50. We need more stuff to do at these lower levels. One of my SGs PL their toons into the 20's + because EVERYTHING in the lower levels has been done...over and over...and over and over...
So, GR will address some of this but it won't be enough. Have some shorter ones on each side and keep adding to them. We get a lot of QoL and fluff adds but it's time to focus on giving us something to do. I know it's more work but that's why you go to work...to work
