Sounds as if you need to update your Steam setup.
-
I can't tell if what I'm getting is the splash screen since it passes so quickly, but I can verify that something different is happening than what it did pre-I21. Windows 7 x64 so it's not a Mac issue.
It blinked something on the screen so fast I couldn't tell what it was. -
I was doing really well using Arcanaville's hosts file suggestion until the most recent forum maintenance.
Now, it forgets me regularly. -
Quote:I'm insulted as well.Apologies to anybody who wanted a character named "The Facepuncher," but I'm camping it until Street Justice comes out.
Yes, I intend to play the character.
-----
Also, who's the jerk who didn't try to steal the name Chad Gulzow-Man? I'm a little insulted.
Texas Justice wasn't Stolen/NameCamped/TakenToActuallyBePlayed either.
EDIT: This makes me feel that I'm more unimportant than what I already believed. -
Install the NCSoft Launcher. The old CoH Updater shown in your picture no longer works.
-
This seems to be something new affecting EU accounts. They are looking into it. There is a thread further down that is discussing this issue (not the old issue this thread was for).

Liz, I notice you have quite a few Mod Files listed in your CoH Helper log. I wonder if some of them could be causing or related to the issues you are having. Since no one else has posted any logs, it's hard to tell if it's a common feature between players.
You could try temporarily moving those folders listed into another directory and see if it still happens. The ones that really concern me are the GUI\Icons entries. A lot more people use the Vidiot maps than use the Icon packs, so it's possible that's where the problem is coming in. It could even be a specific set of Icons or combinations between things.
I'm just throwing this out as a possible troubleshooting step to see if it has any effectg. If it still happens, you'll at least have eliminated those as being the problem. -
Quote:That sounds like a driver issue. Off the top of my head, just guessing here, I suspect you are using an ATI graphics card with the 11.5 drivers or higher. If it is an ATI card with the newer drivers, the solution is to uninstall the new drivers, run Driver Sweeper to remove the leftover files, then install the older drivers.I've been having the same issues, since mid-August. It's crippled my ability to do anything but solo on minimum graphics. I have a 10 month-old machine and I run other games just fine. It's driving me APE.
If you continue to have trouble, follow the instructions in the [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread in the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section of the forums.
The output from CoH Helper and HiJackThis (links are in that thread) will give almost all of the information the helpful folks there will need to start helping you. -
Quote:Both of those games are DirectX games. CoH uses OpenGL.Of course, this machine had no problem running Champions or DCUO, so, who knows? I don't know what the spec differences are between the three.
nVidia and ATI have both fallen short on OpenGL support in their drivers, although they are again making attempts to correct that.
Since most more modern games have been written to use DirectX, there are more products to get tested against and a larger group of people reporting bugs.
EDIT: Did you start your own thread in the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section of the forums? I couldn't find a thread by you to look at. If you posted in someone else's thread it may not get the attention it needs. Follow the link in the post below and start a new thread there with the output from those two programs.
EDIT2: Okay, found the thread you started. Reply to your thread there with the output from CoH Helper and HiJackThis as shown in the Guide thread I linked to in the next post. -
Quote:OK. First off, the problem you are having is with the Paragon Market, the ingame store.i've been unable to access the store entirely. i click on the store button, and the window goes blank like a transition, but then freezes with a "(program not responding)" message up top in the window title. clicking the window again makes it go grey. closing the window get me "City of heroes is not responding", the check for solution, close, or wait options, and the following detail;
is this a server side issue or just my computer?

The NCSoft store is on the NCSoft website.
It does look like it's something on your computer or we'd have many many more posts about it.
My recommendation would be to look at the instructions in the [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread that is stickied in this forum sections and following the instructions there to start your own post with the results of CoH Helper and HiJackThis. -
AO is a framerate killer even with a high end card. It's the first thing I recommend people turn off when asked.

The script has no effect on the names, only on the posts and signatures. So all is well from my POV.

It sounds a bit like a DPI scaling issue.
Not knowing what OS you have makes it difficult to give exact directions, but I'll try to remember the steps in XP, Vista and 7. For a Mac OS, I have no idea. If it's a Mac you may need to ask in the Mac forums here.
All of these steps are for before you get into the game and are looking at your Windows desktop.
XP:
- Right-click a blank space on the Desktop and select Properties.
- Click the Display tab at the top.
- Click the Advanced button near the bottom.
- On the General tab, under the DPI settings, make sure it is set on Normal and then click OK.
- Click OK until you get back to the Desktop.
- Right-click a blank space on the Desktop and select Properties.
- Click on "Adjust Font Size (DPI)" in the left pane.
- Select "Default Scaling (96 DPI)" and click OK. (If you can't see the OK button, hit the Tab key twice and then hit the Enter Key.)
- Click OK or close any windows until you are back to the Desktop.
- Right-click the Desktop and select Screen Resolution.
- Click the "Make text and other items larger or smaller" blue text link.
- Select "Smaller - 100% (Default)" and click Apply.
- Close any windows until you are back to the desktop.

Quote:Oh, I definitely agree. The event badges and anniversary badges are the only ones I can see them allowing if they ever implemented something like this.Heck, I don't even want ALL of the badges. I just would love a way to reroll a character while keeping the event badges. Or at the very least those anniversary badges.
I mean, I can understand why it might be a bad idea to allow accolades and PvP badges and all to transfer between incarnations of a character, but missing out on those others is just kind of painful for me. I don't want to delete a character who has the first anniversary badge or something ya know. -
Yeah, well past time for a clean install.

Master Account and Game account don't have to be the same password.
That being said, have him log into his Master Account and change the password on his Game Account. He can change it to the same thing it is right now (if it meets the newer password rules put into place a few years ago) and then should be able to log into the forums.
It took around 10-15 minutes for mine to take effect, but then I was able to log in.
There have been several posts about it here and in other forum sections. -
Oh noes. Tex lost his redname.
EDIT: He got his red back on. -
They are trying to implement a system so that they can have limited posting rights or limited forums in which they can post. That's one of the reasons for the colored names.
EDIT: You might want to PM Zwuferaltoiditisfunkydrivingcap about the color blind issues. They may not have occured to him. -
It worked for me from a work computer. I remoted into my home computer and couldn't log into the forums. I closed Firefox, reopened it and was then able to log in.
It did take between 10 and 15 minutes after changing it to be able to log in at work. And the NCSoft site was oooooooooooohhhhhhh sssssssssssoooooooooooooo ssssssslllllllllllooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww to respond.
