How many others are having this happen when attempting to update the game to Issue 21?
The launcher updater just..stops right here.

Still having the problem, I'm not able to download one single bit of Issue 21 as the launcher refuses to even connect me to the update server...Every time I try it goes right to "Retrying connection..."

Still having this problem 12+ hours after my first attempt to download Issue 21, not a single drop of the 2511mb's have been downloaded.

If it makes you feel any better Matt..I spent 10 hours downloading this, went to log in..and cant. I am not sure if thats more of less sad though.

I downloaded it quite quickly, but now i cant log in, even though im VIP it says im not, yes i am using the correct account

I'm having the same issue. The ncsoft launcher starts fine, determines that an update is required but when I launch the update, its just "Retrying connection".

I've checked my firewall settings to make sure the ncsoft updater executables aren't being blocked. I've even tried it with two different networks: hotel and mobile broadband: same symptom either way.

I'm on the road right now, so I may be freedomless until I get home.

I'm starting to think this has something to do with the update itself. The same problem kept me from beta testing it..every time I tried I got the same error.

Never got it before this release so..yeah I'm stumped. If you ask me this is a pretty serious problem that Needs to be addressed by a redname.. I mean some of us can't even download the patch and it's not related to OUR systems.

I'm having the same problem. I re-installed the launcher but it didn't help. I'm on Wildblue satellite internet so I suspect that my be part of my problem. I used to have a hard time connecting before the launcher came out but the launcher actually fixed that problem, till now.

I'm STILL not able to connect to the update server more then 24 hours after the patch went live and most other players have it downloaded..so WHY is the update server refusing to let us download it now?

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

I contacted tech support. It may take a while for them to be any help on this. Right now we're on bypassing my router So they are going through standard tech support procedure and must not be aware of anything on their end that is causing this.
It looks like only a few of us are having this problem. I suspected that my satellite connection is somehow causing my problem. But Mr Energon says he tried different networks so now I have no clue why this is happening.

Well, after three days of trying the NCsoft Launcher is now downloading. At the current download speed, I might be able to play after 10-11 hours.

I had checked this morning and was still getting the Retrying Connection... in the download status but now it appears to be past that issue.

I did nothing to this system to explain the change (unless running the Game Adviser had a side effect).

No there is something funky with the old updater. My second PC has the new Launcher and its downloading the patch right now. My main PC has the old Updater and its stuck at connecting. I have completely turned of Win7 firewall so its not that and its not my router either or my second PC would not be able to download it as I have the same ports open for all PC's.

Edit:

So I downloaded the new launcher on my main PC now the patch is downlaoding. Looks like the old updater is broken.

The old updater was obsoleted beginning of August if I remember right.

That announcement didn't help anyone who reinstalled the game from DVD or an old backup and not dig through the announcements.

They should have made the web page that the old updater displayed point you to the new updater.

I can see some returning players who never uninstalled the game getting confused/annoyed.

Edit: Gee, it does. Sort of surprised someone thought of that.

Everything was working fine till the new update came out. I'm using the NCsoft launcher which I assume is what you guys are calling the "new updater". I have re-installed the launcher and turned my firewall off. I was playing CoH just hours before the update. Once the VIP head start thing came out I can't update.

Here's something strange.... even though I can't connect to update City of Heroes, If I click on CoH subscriber beta or Lineage II it connects right away and starts downloading.
