    Base upkeep

Since I cannot buy a VIP anymore and I require VIP to pay upkeep to get into my base, are you going to open this feature up? Be nice to be able get into my base for some screen shots.
  2. I wish you all the best, but not happy at all .

There are so many lesser and smaller MMO's out there that are doing just fine, even with a reduced staff and budget....very bad decision....bleh

  4. Definitely Mercs/Dark for me ( I have one of each primary and secondary). My Merc/Dark is also my first villain and my badger with just over 1000 badges. I use him for hard content like AV’s and GM’s

I found it easier to heal them as they have a tendency to bunch up around me. I also use GOTO’s to bring them back to me when they feel the need to punch things. (Medic)

Dark has a lot of –tohit and once you combine it with Fluffies -tohoit and a good 425 point AOE heal you can steamroll through most stuff

I would like to know too. The last time I played was 14 months ago and my Merc's always wanted to run up and punch things. It made it very hard to keep control of some fights.

I did hear that they fixed the AoE size of the Twiligh Grasp ( cool! ) though.

    End Game Content

I so hate “end game content” crap that WoW has brain washed people into. I really whish WoW wouldn’t have screwed it up for all other MMO’s and tainted a generations brains to what it is to actually play an MMO’s through all levels.

    Edit:

Sorry if I seemed annoyed, its just so frustrating to see so many AE babies power level their characters up to 50 and miss 1000's of things to do in the game, then scream there is no ”end game content”. They are so use to power leveling their guys for end game raids in WoW.

CoX is not WoW. The merits you get while leveling up and doing low level TF's can be applied to your character at anytime, even level 50 items. The game is designed that 1 – 50 is the experience and not just 50 that’s why they put into place a system that allows you to alter your level up or down to experience all the content in the game.

So you rush in and grab something someone else could have used then hold it hostage for money on the Pinnacle boards? Way to be part of the Pinnacle community.

All I know is if I went to the new server and grabbed a name that I wasn't going to use I would come here and offer it for free to the Pinnacle community, shrug I guess thats just me.
  8. No there is something funky with the old updater. My second PC has the new Launcher and its downloading the patch right now. My main PC has the old Updater and its stuck at connecting. I have completely turned of Win7 firewall so its not that and its not my router either or my second PC would not be able to download it as I have the same ports open for all PC's.

    Edit:

So I downloaded the new launcher on my main PC now the patch is downlaoding. Looks like the old updater is broken.

Set bonuses? It's not always about DPS, surviving is nice too. With a fully slotted Taunt, Buildup and 4 slotted Scorch, Brawl and Kick my fire/fire has 46% s/l, 26% e/n and 43% melee for positional not covered with s/l and e/n

P.S. If your making posts about Fire/Fire builds it is best to state if its farming or actual tanking ( TF / SF ) as the 2 builds can be drastically different. Most people will not give you much help with farming builds as it is posted to death and a simple search will reveal 4+ threads in the last 2 months alone.

Trial tanking builds can require billions of inf and is a good thing to discuss before you waste the inf and repsec's.
  10. This is Scorchy , tanked pretty much anything including Apex and TM, No PvP IO's.

However the issue remains - I can take most other tanks with straight SO's and they will perform as well as your IO'd out Fire tank. You dodge and weave with your answers but Fire as an armor set is very poor.

A brute fitted with the same IO's that a fire tank would use is almost as good. The guy saying he did great with an Empath and 4 maneuvers running.........seriously? Take a non-IO'd Fire/Fire tank in and run the Roy Cooling arc solo.

You will get owned, repeatedly as they slow you, drain you and once you can't heal and have no end - you die. I LOVE fire tanks but a 5% defense to all in Temperature protection would have done wonders - instead it resists slows? I have tried it 3 slotted on a fire tank and it does very little when facing the slows from Council or Psi based foes.

I also ran an ITF with a 50 fire tank and he repeatedly died, so much so that my Fire/dark corr started taking the alphas instead and never died once.
And a level 29 SO'd Elec, Dark, WP or Invuln would do any better against malta and paragon police? LoL... So you got owned on a 29 arc and instead of blaming the over powered foes you blame the fire tank set. I just took my 43 Invuln and 37 Elec through that arc and also got totally owned by the sappers and police glue.... maybe try other tank sets in the same arc as a reference instead of just one and blaming the whole set.

I made a fully SO'd build with the free 3rd build. I am currently 4 missions into "Hero's Epic" and have found zero issues surviving, shrug. A few times I got a bit chewed up but my HF is still at 15 seconds 6 slotted so I just healed through it. I think you are taking one attack type and basing the whole "fire tanks are crap" on it which is flawed. I can take and Invuln into a Carnie arc and say its the worse tank set ever too......

Then you will die quickly. The Council will destroy you, Rikti will hurt you, Carnies will hurt you and the list grows daily of those things with -recharge powers.

The deal with Fire tanks was always kill them before they kill you. A Brute does it better. When your ultimate power is a self rez - you know how often you will be face planted.

A lot of people will tell you - Fire tanks are wonderful - but they are unless you have a pocket Force Field or Cold Defender, the squishiest of tanks and by quite a large margin. The Brute as you are finding Kills FASTER - they actually do as advertised, they kill before they are killed.

I am leveling a Fire/Electric tank as this gives me some way to mitigate damage as I have some knockdown abilities.
You are talking prior to 50 and IO's right? Any tank can be a tank even with an average buff team. Brutes are scrapper level res/def and need a cold/bubbler to reach even a fire tanks resist/def ( with IO sets )

I was on a Tin Mage with all the massive -rech from clocks, I still didn't die. We didn't have a Bubbler or Cold shieder, only an Emp and 4 Maneuvers. She even noted that she barely had to heal since the start and was suprised that all it took was one fort and a few team buffs to make us unstoppable. Since 90%+ of the clocks were missing me, Healing Flames was up when needed, even at -150% rech.

Sure we are not as buff as Stone, Invuln or WP but on "TEAMS" ( yes in caps and quoted ) we are just as good as any other tank. If you want to solo and GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO then make a Fire brute. Fire Tanks kill super fast and have the added bonus of being main tank even on an average buffed team.

is it for the 2% recharge more?

i would think being just over the soft cap is better then being just under the cap plus with nerve alpha youll almost be soft capped in melee defense as well.
As I said, for me its not just soft cap in 1 or 2 def types. Its a combination of def, resist, regen, recharge, HP's and max end, its a balancing act so I am not a one trick pony.

I am at 44.9 s/l def with MB's and as Call Me Awesome said the extra 2.5% rech, 1.8 max end and 3.125% f/c def , 1.563 AoE def over Zingers was worth the loss of .625 s/l and .328 melee. My overall goal was for capped s/l plus 22% to 23% def in everything else to push me to soft cap in all other areas with team support.

I use to be soft capped in just s/l and melee but only 10% to 14% in all other areas. I found things like Tin Mage much more difficult with all that ranged Energy damage. As soon as I reworked the build to be 22% to 23% in all other areas a single defender buff or single Cor / Troller buff and some Maneuvers soft capped me across the board. I actually did several Tin Mage and Apex after that without even a scratch, it was like night and day.

( With MB plus accolades I am sitting at 111.8 end, add PS +End which fire a lot I am at 123 end. ( this with Numina, Miracle, physical Perfection and Cardiac is why my bar never moves even with SS on and attacking )

I guess it just comes down to personal taste. All the other builds in this thread are amazing, I just wanted to add some variety
  14. As a fire tank I use it in most TF's that have a heavy KB AV like STF, LRSF, Katie or Kahn. With my Acrobatics and Zephyr it puts me at -23 KB prot , nice to actually stand during fights heh.
  15. This is mine. He might seem end heavy with 1.64/s but with Miracle, Numina, PS +end, Physical Perfection and Accolades his bar never moves. I am actually considering taking the 2 slots out of consume and putting them somwhere else, I just never use it now with the stuff listed above and a Cardiac Radial Boost.

I also went soft capped s/l def and 40% melee to make up the difference. I went more into recharge and regen than some others to help fill the holes. Nothing like a 13 second Healing Flames . I tried for 22% to 23% def in all other areas because most of the teams I am on have either a cold shielder, bubbler or Emp for Fort and with their 23% shield/fort it soft caps me across the board. At the very least most teams now seem to have 5 or 6 stacked maneuvers, which does almost the same thing.

( Whole things cost me about 3.6 billion so much more doable for people who have money but not huge amounts )

  16. Is this for the broken WL realm? I would really like to know before I waste my time getting a team together to kill him just to get teleported back to AP again.
  17. Does it only work on defense buffs cast on yourself? I click it right before I put cold shields on someone and they are still 23.55% defense.

Guess I need to turn "show team buffs in window'' back on. usualy only have it enabled for my buffers. Shrug, still think its a bug
  19. Love that set bonuses are back but the incarnate slotted is now missing. It will be hard to see at the beginning of an Apex or Tin Mage if everyone is slotted. People still don't understand slotted compared to unlocked so we have to visually inspect to make sure.

This is mine , gives him 42% ACC, 51% - tohit and 2 Proc's that goe off with all his AoE powers. With Hasten and +30% Global ( 100% total ) he is perm.

  21. Its not your sound card its the game , I also crash in the RWZ ship raids, in the Director 11 Warehouse and in the save the conference when you have to kill the groups inside before engaging the giant warwalker outside.

I have an Azuntech Forte 7.1 Xfi in one machine, at SB Audigy 4 in another and Soundmax integrated on my laptop and all 3 crash.

Mercs are NOT terrible, they are under performers compared to other MM sets. They are still better for soloing ANYTHING in the game with relative ease than most non pet classes. My main badger is a Merc/Dark and I have killed every EB and some AV's / GM's with him without even breaking a sweat.

Most of my 15+ level 50's had a difficult time with the 2 EB's in the incarnate arc, my Mercs killed both without even a single pet loss. Sure the i18 AI changes make it more difficult to controll them but I have compensated by moving closer with them and using my debuffs along with fluffy to keep them just as alive as before.

Just so you know I have a Mercs/Dark, Thugs/Pain, Thugs/Posion, DS/Storm, Necro/Pain, Ninja/FF and Bots/Traps all above 35 and 3 or them are 50, so I am not speaking out of my *** like alot of these Mids paper pushers, I have actually played them all.

  24. I have done the STF with my Fire/Fire many many times and can tell you they stealth fixed/changed him recently. He never use to use his ranged attack ( the one that causes massive end drain ) in melee so often. He now uses it in his melee attack chain every time it is up which causes toggle loss then death.

I don't know if these are the same changes that they put in for i18 that makes MM pets rush into melee and use range attacks, but it does seem similar.

p.s Its not you, its him, keep your build. I have seen a well built WP and Ice also get toasted by him recently so as Dechs says take cold shield, bubbles and purples till the blue tower is down.
