All I want to do is play the game.

I keep getting "not responding" errors. I've posted in the Tech forum but who the hell knows.

I ordered a new power supply because, 1) the one I have currently is lower than I'd like and 2) that might possibly be the problem.

Of course, this machine had no problem running Champions or DCUO, so, who knows? I don't know what the spec differences are between the three.

I've been having the same issues, since mid-August. It's crippled my ability to do anything but solo on minimum graphics. I have a 10 month-old machine and I run other games just fine. It's driving me APE.

Both of those games are DirectX games. CoH uses OpenGL.

nVidia and ATI have both fallen short on OpenGL support in their drivers, although they are again making attempts to correct that.

Since most more modern games have been written to use DirectX, there are more products to get tested against and a larger group of people reporting bugs.

EDIT: Did you start your own thread in the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section of the forums? I couldn't find a thread by you to look at. If you posted in someone else's thread it may not get the attention it needs. Follow the link in the post below and start a new thread there with the output from those two programs.

EDIT2: Okay, found the thread you started. Reply to your thread there with the output from CoH Helper and HiJackThis as shown in the Guide thread I linked to in the next post.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

That sounds like a driver issue. Off the top of my head, just guessing here, I suspect you are using an ATI graphics card with the 11.5 drivers or higher. If it is an ATI card with the newer drivers, the solution is to uninstall the new drivers, run Driver Sweeper to remove the leftover files, then install the older drivers.

If you continue to have trouble, follow the instructions in the [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums thread in the Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs section of the forums.

The output from CoH Helper and HiJackThis (links are in that thread) will give almost all of the information the helpful folks there will need to start helping you.

Ok, TJ: I've updated my post.

They are applying a hot fix today for unspecified "instability issues."

I'm just putting the idea out that it is possible (but unlikely) that this might fix your problem. I'm assuming that if they are taking down the servers over the weekend that the unspecified "instability issues" are fairly severe and wide spread.

I hope so! I contacted Tech Support and they had me run the two tests that TJ suggested, in addition to downloading two other programs from them directly. Then, they elevated me to higher up the foodchain.

Of course you are. Otherwise, I wouldn't have responded to your posts here and in the Tech forums.

Well, the one in the Tech forums I'd have likely responded to anyway, as that's what i do.

But the one here? Yeah, I only do that for the important people.

Ok, TJ: re-ran the tests and posted results. Also, before that, re-ran AV And Malware stuff.

Ok, I made the changes in-game you suggested, as well as the driver un-update.

Game seems to be working just fine now.

C'mere, you're getting kissed.

No, you don't get to choose which one.

I look forward to you getting a new power supply and being able to upgrade your graphics card.

I still get amazed at some of the things I see since the Ultra Mode updates.
