Curse you ZM. Now I have a new add-on to search for. Hopefully I can find a version of it that works on FF 3.6.x since I plan on staying with it. One of the add-ons I use doesn't work on FF4 and up and they aren't planning on updating it. I don't want to lose it's functionality so I'll stay in the current versions as long as possible.

Was anything else you were doing using the akamai service?

If it wasn't and your ISP is throttling traffic using the akamai service, or if a router between you and the update servers is throttling traffic using the akamai service, then you probably wouldn't have noticed it.
  7. You aren't. Well, not really. However, Search is your friend.

Using the Advanced Search to search for the keyword unloadgfx and narrowing it to only this forum section yields 170 posts. It's probably been more than that but the forum purges wipe some things out from time to time.

Were you able to launch the game in Safe Mode?
  9. Are you leaving the Launcher running in the background while you play? If so, shut it off after the game launches.

Well, the one in the Tech forums I'd have likely responded to anyway, as that's what i do.

But the one here? Yeah, I only do that for the important people.

Nah, can't be the coolness factor. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get it in the first place. Also, since I know that it's taken on several other servers by people that are not me let's me know I'm not that unique.

Also, I find that 3 of my other names are unused as well that are taken on other servers, even one that uses an unusual spelling. I didn't check all of my names, just 5 of them. Only one was taken and it's not one I'd play anywhere but Justice. Actually, TJ is likely to be my only character on Exalted that gets played so possibly my only character there.
  12. That's the entry I was referring to, but I won't give the registry steps due to how much can be fouled up in there by people being careless or not knowing what they are doing.

Personal quirk from having done phone based tech support and having to walk people through registry edits to correct problems. If an IQ test were required before being allowed to use a computer, most of those would have failed miserably. A reading test would have had the same results.
  13. I believe there is a key in the registry that is either changed or no longer used and could be causing the problems. An uninstall/reinstall may get rid of it or change it or it may just remove the existing references to that line in the registry.

Father Xmas posted some information in one of the threads about this earlier in the Technical Issues forums.

You do have to PM a one of the OCR team for this, but it started before the server merge.

When they switched to the vBulletin forums we lost the ability to change our names. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of vBulletin or if a decision was made not to allow that on these forums as a result of some players constantly changing their forum names making it difficult for other posters to immediately identify them. Especially if they had a non-unique avatar or no avatar.
  15. From what I recall, when you get those errors it also means you need to wait 24 hours after that failed transaction or it may fail again and restart the 24 hour timer.

Thats an error i get when i try to buy some stuff...click onthe add coins option...get coins...and then try to get the items or hit continue shopping.....the thing works...but just keeps popping up the message.
Misread this one the first time. Yes, it's known that after you buy Points you have to log out and then log back in before you can use them. Annoying, yes. Are they aware of it? I believe so, but I can't find the other threads where I've seen it discussed to tell for sure if a redname responded to it.

    2. Servers display erroneous load limits and in game servers are experiecne bad lag spikes.
Think everyone knows about this....logged onto a server that was PINK and RED and the game play was mostly fine.....logged onto a server with a green rating and i see lag spikes up the gazoo...in game packet meter shows me this.
They put in the erroneous load limits as a workaround for another problem, specifically, the scroll bar on the side of the server list would snap back to the top of the list and not let you access the servers that were at the bottom of the list. This was an attempt to force the server list to rearrange each time you got to the Server Select screen so that you could get to those last two servers. Often one of the servers was Exalted and they didn't want players having problems getting to the new VIP server.

I'm not sure why they didn't remove that workaround when they put in the fix for the scroll bar, but it's still in place. It's possible that it is still there to deal with problems we don't know about.

    6. Super base Emblems Inside all changed to Toxic Emblem
This is something i found happening on 8 differing super bases....The Legion of catgirls has a few super groups and a bunch coalitioned.....so...figured i would go into every one and check....I found on one i could edit that the emblem super group things all have that same emblem even if i never used them before.....so another data base issue.
I keep wondering when someone will put the same texture on the top on the bottom of the floor texture....how tough is it to change a 0 to what is it? 1 or let me guess 5...yes i noticed how the game reads the data for base items.
Known issue. They are working on it.

EDIT: Since these are issues coming after the I21 releae, you may want to post it in the City of Heroes Freedom and Issue 21: Convergence Bug Report Forums forum section that is just above this one instead.

Since every CoH Helper report begins with the same information and it isn't in yours, I can only come to two conclusions.

    1. Something on your system is interfering with and editing files. This would fit in with your statement that you are running AV and Anti-Malware software but it not showing up in HJT. If so, it points to bigger problems on your system.

    2. You left off the first part of the report, intentionally or unintentionally and don't want to admit it.

I'd prefer to believe it's the first one.

Just as an example of how the CoH Helper report begins, I'll paste the beginning of mine.

As you can see, there is quite a bit of information that your post didn't contain. Since it appears something is interfering with the text reports from CoH Helper and HJT, you may want to run some additional scans on the computer to find out what that might be. It could be what is causing your probems with CoH as well.
  21. That's around my normal speed with the NCSoft Launcher as well. However, with the old updater I was getting faster speeds.

It's not a cop out for them to blame the ISP or something between you and the update servers if they determine the problem isn't on their equipment or on your computer and equipment. Since they don't have knowledge of any of the configurations your ISP or the hops between you and the update servers it's a valid assumption once they've ruled out their equipment and yours.

It could be a problem with your ISP or a hop along the route between you and the update servers. Some ISP's throttle or even block certain types of traffic. I think the NCSoft launcher is using the akamai service for content delivery which some ISP's do indeed block or throttle. It could also be that one of the routers at a hop between you and the update servers is throttling akamai traffic.

Even if you've been using the NCSoft Launcher since it first started being used by CoH with no problems, it's possible that something has changed in the configuration of one of those routers in the hops between you and the update server or even on your ISP's equipment to now start throttling akamai traffic. It's also possible that it's being throttled due to the size of the download.

I'm not sure why this wasn't in the Live patch notes. I remember seeing it in one of the patch notes during Beta. Looking for it I found it in the August 16 Beta patch notes. A very welcome change. Should have been in the Live patch notes but with so many changes coming at once I'm surprised more wasn't accidentally left out of the notes.

Okay, I found the Guide: How to make the new NCSoft Launcher as unobtrusive as possible thread. No idea why it was unstickied, it's still very useful.
  24. Why did this get unstickied? It is still extremely relevant and useful information for all players.

It would be helpful if you had posted the entire CoH Helper report instead of cutting off the top portion of it. Some of that information is needed when troubleshooting issues.

Going from what you did post however, I'll make a few recommendations.

First off. Set the NCLauncher to close after launching the game and NOT to run when Windows starts. There are known memory leaks with the Launcher. We had a post here that was stickied detailing the settings for the Launcher but it's been unstickied for some unknown reason and I'll have to dig for it.

Second. With video cards as old as yours, I don't really like running the newer 2xx.xx series of drivers. I've gotten better results in the limited testing I've been able to do with that old of a card using the 197.45 drivers. Those were the last drivers released before going to the 2xx.xx series. They are compatible with the graphics changes that came with Ultra Mode and seem to run better with older cards such as yours than the newer drivers do. I haven't tested that old of a card with Windows 7, but I think it's very possible that an older driver may still work better for you. As always, when changing drivers I recommend using Driver Sweeper to clean out the leftover files after the uninstall and before installing the other drivers, just to make sure it's a clean install.

Third, try to launch the game in Safe Mode to see if you can get into the game at all. Open the Launcher but don't start the game yet. Right-click the CoH entry in the list and select Properties. At the bottom of the Properties window put a check mark in the Launch the game in Safe Mode box and click OK.

If the game still doesn't launch, there is something interfering with the game launch and it is likely to be some of the software on your computer, a virus or malware. Since I don't see an anti-virus program listed in your HJT log viruses are a big concern. I generally recommend Microsoft Security Essentials as I've had 0 problems with it, it seems to use a low amount of background resources and has caught quite a few infections on my work computer when I'm accessing other people's files to correct problems they are having. And it's free. A good free anti-malware program is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. The paid version isn't necessary for most people.

If it does launch in Safe Mode and the Contact window is open, check to see if there is a Contact with no picture and then close the Contact window. Exit the game, uncheck the Safe Mode box and relaunch. If it doesn't launch set it back to Safe Mode and go back into the game. At that point I'd recommend going into the graphics options and making one adjustment at a time, exiting the game, turning off Safe Mode and then seeing if the game will launch. If it does launch, change one more graphic setting, exit, relaunch and see if it loads. Keep doing that until you find which setting is causing it not to launch.

The only software I can see that may be causing some type of problem would be the Saluto PC Genome software. It's possible that it could be interfering with something the game is doing during launch, but I haven't worked with that software before so don't know what all it might be doing. It wouldn't hurt to disable the software and the service to see if it's causing problems just to rule it out as a culprit. Your HJT log is the first time I've seen that software name, so I can't rule it out as a possible problem, even though it's legitimate software. Since it is doing things in the background on your computer for analysis and possibly making changes, it's possible that it's affecting something to do with CoH. If disabling it fixes the problems you are having, please let us know so we'll know what to recommend to people in the future.

A few things about the settings you currently have. I'd recommend a few minor changes. Set Maximum Particle Count to 25050. Set World Texture Level to High or Medium. I'd also set Bloom to OFF and Depth of Field Enabled to No. You may want to adjust the Shader detail and then change it back. The entry for Shader Detail and Shadow Map Shader with the ? and the Unknown make it seem as if the game hasn't set those values correctly.
