HELP, Cannot Log onto "Live" servers!
I'd love to help, but considering that the launcher only launches the game and doesn't have anything to do with the password verification later... I very much doubt it's the issue.
How about viruses and malware? Have you scanned? You might also have to reinstall the game. Are you having issues with other software?
I'd suggest removing the extra stuff from your launch link.
I think I saw this in another thread and it is the "-project coh" in the command line of your shortcut that is causing the error. That is an old trick to bypass the updater but doesn't work with the launcher.
One suggestion since it seems to working for the others. Copy the PIGGS folder from the beta folder to the live game folder. Then after starting the launcher right click on "CITY OF HEROES" and select repair.
Also right click on it and select properties and see if anything is in the extra command line parameters field.
If neither of those work I would suggest asking this up in the technical support forum where people who answer this sort of thing hang out all the time.

The NCSoft Launcher is lying to you because it's (to be polite) not very good.. Despite what it tells you your game is not up to date. Specifically it no longer tries to contact the correct login server. There have been several changes to the ip address recently and for some reason a number of us do not receive this information.
The login ip for Test and Beta has not changed and that's why you can still reach those two.
Sadly there is little you can do besides a full or partial reinstall to get the new ip address.

I had the same problem for a few days. Redownloaded the game, and everything worked fine.

I'm not sure. I don't think that would work for the same reason running a repair on the files doesn't work, but if it does Oxmyx could save himself a lot of time.
I think that what would happen is upon reinstalling the Launcher it would detect CoH and check to see if it's installed and then check for updates. The problem is that the Launcher does not check to see if the login address is correct. It's just checking that the game files are current.
When I had this problem I could check for updates and run consistency checks/repair all day long with nothing changing. The Launcher insists that you have the current version of the game. And to an extent, you do. It's just that the Launcher then tries to reach a non-existent server to run the game.
I don't think the Launcher itself has any information on the login server for any game, accurate or not. Global_DJB posted over here that it was possible to have two seperate version of of CoH, both of which were fully updated according to the Launcher, that attempted to connect to different servers.

I believe there is a key in the registry that is either changed or no longer used and could be causing the problems. An uninstall/reinstall may get rid of it or change it or it may just remove the existing references to that line in the registry.
Father Xmas posted some information in one of the threads about this earlier in the Technical Issues forums.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Start > Run > type "regedit" without quotes, hit enter > HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Cryptic > Coh > rightclick "Auth" and select "Delete".
Does this fix it?

That's the entry I was referring to, but I won't give the registry steps due to how much can be fouled up in there by people being careless or not knowing what they are doing.
Personal quirk from having done phone based tech support and having to walk people through registry edits to correct problems. If an IQ test were required before being allowed to use a computer, most of those would have failed miserably. A reading test would have had the same results.

If you do anything else but what I described, the results are your own stupid fault.

Thanks all for your help. While I did not edit my registry (as I am too technologicly timid to attempt such a thing), I did uninstall the Beta, Test and main game from my system via the NCsoft Launcher. I then uninstalled the launcher itself and removed all remaining CoH folders and files I could find. I then restarted my computer.
Once my system had rebooted I went to the NCsoft website and redownloaded the Launcher. I then (via the Launcher and NOT my original cd) reloaded City of Heroes. That pretty much did the trick and I, since Sunday, have been able to log-in.
Note: reloading the game via the NCsoft Launcher seemed to be alot faster than reinstalling from my cd and then letting the game update.
Anyway thanks again everyone.
I have not been able to log onto the "Live" servers for about three weeks now. The weird thing is I can log onto the "VIP Beta" and "Test" servers. I am still trying to resolve this matter through NCsoft's online support but so far no solution.
My computer setup has not changed over the past year. I have no other internet issues. Again, I can log onto the "test" and "VIP" servers.
I would also note that my problem started after the NCS Launcher downloaded and applied an update. My ability to connect with the "VIP Beta" server would come and go following updates to that server.
Now, when I start the main game through the NCSoft Launcher I do get an "Error parsing command line argument 'auth 64.25.36.88-project CoH'", but I've been getting that for awhile now and was still able to log onto the "Live" servers.
Also, upon my computer booting up, I get a prompt to delete a NCSoft vitual store folder. I click "yes" as it suggests.
I think an update is the root cause of my ills but have no idea how to right things.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
