Has anyone else experienced a very slow down load speed on the new issue.

I started the download client yesterday at 7pm, 4 hours later i had downloaded 14%.
At this rate I might be able to play CoX again by the Mid Oct, if i am lucky (add sarcasm here)

My broadband has never been slow, so wondering why this Issue is proving to be a nightmare.
Currently at 31%... after a full day (8am-6pm (minus the powersave))...

After 2 days speaking to Tech Support, I am no closer to getting my download sped up. Their conclusion is that my ISP is the problem, which is strange, seeing as I have had no problems with them over the last 3 years.... typical cop out.

Support cannot work out what the issue is so they blame an ISP, not seen that before (from other ppl posting over the years - add more sarcasm if desired)

I'll be very annoyed, if the verifying takes the same amount of time...

Left on all last night and only went up by 30%....

Please run the appropriate speed test and http://www.speedtest.net and list your results here.
THanks.

That's the normal speed for me with the NCsoft Launcher, which is a huge improvement over the CoH Updater, which used to be in the 0-3K/s.

That's around my normal speed with the NCSoft Launcher as well. However, with the old updater I was getting faster speeds.

It's not a cop out for them to blame the ISP or something between you and the update servers if they determine the problem isn't on their equipment or on your computer and equipment. Since they don't have knowledge of any of the configurations your ISP or the hops between you and the update servers it's a valid assumption once they've ruled out their equipment and yours.

It could be a problem with your ISP or a hop along the route between you and the update servers. Some ISP's throttle or even block certain types of traffic. I think the NCSoft launcher is using the akamai service for content delivery which some ISP's do indeed block or throttle. It could also be that one of the routers at a hop between you and the update servers is throttling akamai traffic.

Even if you've been using the NCSoft Launcher since it first started being used by CoH with no problems, it's possible that something has changed in the configuration of one of those routers in the hops between you and the update server or even on your ISP's equipment to now start throttling akamai traffic. It's also possible that it's being throttled due to the size of the download.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Is this a new install of the game, or a patch with the new issue?

Because I had absolutely no waiting at all - I left the launcher up after I logged with the settings adjusted for it to auto download any updates.

When I came back in the morning, all it had to do was verify, which took less than 5 minutes.

I noticed this yesterday as well. I didn't know if it was the game or perhaps my lack luster internet, but NOTHING else was running slow/streaming/etc so it wasn't on my/ISP's end.

Was anything else you were doing using the akamai service?

If it wasn't and your ISP is throttling traffic using the akamai service, or if a router between you and the update servers is throttling traffic using the akamai service, then you probably wouldn't have noticed it.

As far as I know nothing else uses the akamai service, but I can see how a router beyond my local ISP connection (and the location of the CoH servers) would be a likely candidate. That said, I'm still kinda foggy on the akamai service beyond what I just read on wiki.
