Quote:Since Street Justice is only available after purchase for any player, regardless of status, they wouldn't have to worry about that last part in regard to Street Justice.Of course, both of these conditions assume that the character is not a restricted AT (like mastermind, controller, kheldian, etc) or using a powerset that you have not purchased (like Street Justice).

1. Clark Kent regularly lowers his glasses and uses heat vision. He doesn't even lower them using X-ray vision. Not to mention no change at all when using breath powers.
Sue Storm can go invisible no matter what clothes she wears (although the clothes may not disappear) and can cast her force fields when in street clothes.
Just two small examples, many more exist.
2. There are several methods that will let anyone get the global name of a character, no matter what the local name may be displaying. So much for a "secret" identity.
I'm not sure if the tech exists for different names to be displayed dependent on the costume slot used. I imagine it wouldn't be a simple task to recode everything to allow that option to work. It's certainly way too much work for something so trivial. -
They told us Beta was a VIP perk and I think they said the same about Test.
On Test, a Premium account or a Free account can enter the username/password and get to the server select screen and select the server, but the character list shows "Unlockable for VIP" in each character slot.
Of course, I didn't have any characters on my Premium account already on Test from when it was an active account, so can't tell what it will do if a character exists there. I think it will still be locked and only unlockable for VIP.
I don't have Beta updated currently, so can't verify what actions occur for username/password entry, server selection or character select screen.
EDIT: After updating Beta, I get the same results with my Premium and Free accounts that I got on Test. I can get it to accept my username/password, I can select the server, all character slots show "Unlockable for VIP". -
Cancel the subscription before the end of the first billing cycle or it will auto-renew and charge your card. You don't have to wait until the first month is over, you can cancel now and continue to play out the free month.

I've uploaded my photos from the weekend to Flickr. I didn't take nearly enough pictures. I'm not used to having a camera with me. There is even a slideshow of the photos.
Hopefully others will share their pictures as well. -

I don't deal in rumors.
It's how things start going around that begin with "The devs said they were going to ..... " when they've said nothing of the sort. -
The local Gamestop and Best Buy are a joke as far as games that are not the 800-lb gorilla of MMOs go.
They never carry the Time Cards for any NCSoft games, even after multiple people have asked them to carry them. They seldom carry time cards for any other games except the above unnamed game.
The Best Buy has at least carried Architect Edition when it was initially released (and didn't replace their initial order even though it sold out in 2 days and more people were asking for it). They did the same with Going Rogue and refused to order more after selling out stating "that game doesn't sell, no one plays it". Customers responded with "I play it and it's already sold out so it apparently does sell and I'm not the only local person playing it". BTW, I bought both the first day, so caught it before it sold out and found out later from other people about the responses from employees.
I do know that people were told "we don't carry that game" and "that hasn't come out yet" when AE and GR were released and then the sales staff were surprised when customers went to the shelf and showed them where it was stocked.
Anyway, there are other places to get time codes and you can read about them on ParagonWiki in R M's Guide to Getting Cheap Months, specifically the section headed The Smart Way: Discounted Time Cards. Be sure to pay attention to the Caveat Emptor section as some have reported getting used codes recently. The company has been good about getting replacement codes to customers, but it is something to be aware of. I've not gotten any invalid codes when I've bought from them, but apparently it's happened recently. -
I'll have to second Dramen's thanks to Arbiter Warrant. One of the things I most look forward to each year is the Bacon Waffles at Holder's. The OPH Bacon Waffles were better than the ones at Stacks last year (not much of a compliment since anything would beat those) but they come nowhere close to those at Holder's.
Thanks also to Red Gren for once again coming through with meet and eat plans. You rock. Although now that you know that Schaub's needs to always be part of the meal plans somewhere along the way I'll expect it to be included. Maybe next time I'll be leave room for the desert at the shop near it where we went to get Meg warmed up Friday.
I have a few pictures to post, but it will have to wait until I can have time and parts to troubleshoot my PC. It was dead when I got home. Guess I shouldn't have turned it off for the trip after all.
It was great seeing all of the Justice folks again that made it and finally getting to put a face to the name Callie Sunshine. Also, although I'm sure I'll leave someone out, it was also great meeting artphobia, crayhal, Tony V (yes, the Tony V from Titan Network), Ninus (the other Tony), Turgenev, newchemicals, Pollyanna Morphic (I hope I got the name right) and so many others that I'm forgetting.
I'd like to give a special thanks to The Net for joining us at the Friday night dinner at Vive Sol.
And of course, thanks go to Black Pebble for being our Red Name presence at the Saturday night dinner table. We should have ordered chicken. -

And really, did they *need* 40 folks to show up for this Pummit? I doubt it. I wasn't there obviously but that seems rather overkill to have or even need 40 folks actively involved in this.
From what I gathered talking to some of the ones in attendance that weren't directly involved with the panels, they didn't HAVE to be there. They WANTED to be there to be able to talk to the players, get feedback on things related to what they do, listen to (and, if possible, answer) questions players had that weren't related to the various panels. Some had specific players they wanted to speak to about some posts that those players had made on the forums or that persons general contributions in game or on the forums. The one thing that was evident from every one of them was that they all wanted to be there.
Would I like to see events held elsewhere in the country? Certainly.
Would I specifically like to see something held in the central US region? Of course since that would make it closer to me.
Going to this event puts a considerable strain on my finances, but the time I get to spend visiting with the other players makes it worth it. I've met several really nice folks at these things (Devs, OCR team and players), and I wouldn't trade that for anything. -
Quote:You do realize that even with the archived shows some of us have so many problems with UStream that we can't even watch those without them freezing up constantly? You guys do know we record each and every show, right? It's archived so you can watch it at any time.
Matters not if I'm at home on my crappy wireless ISP or at work with a 30 Mb connection to the internet. Even if I come in Wednesday when no one is here the live UStream and the archives all hesitate and stutter worse than Mel Tillis. -
I'd recommend using the 11.9 drivers. Also, following the recommended procedure of uninstall, boot to safe mode and run Driver Sweeper, boot to normal mode and install the 11.9 driver.
Without the full OS details I can't give a link to the drivers, but it's easy to find sites with the files by using Mobility 11.9 Drivers as the search phrase -
A few additional points to add to what Samuraiko posted.
Mot's awakening affects the War Walls as well as the entire zone.
Red War Walls in the pics we were shown.
Skulls embedded in those red War Walls.
Animated stuff that was difficult to tell exactly what it was in those War Walls.
They didn't really give as much information as I'd have liked for the solo Incarnate path, but what they did say has me intrigued and relatively content for now. I'll wait for it to be released to form a firmer opinion, or for Beta if I'm invited. They know that I'm a strictly solo player, so while they may not want to hear all of my opinions, I'm sure they'll weight it appropriately from the viewpoint of the target audience.
Another thing 'Ko didn't mention was that much of this was in the plans for the Incarnate stuff all along (possibly even before the iTrials). My thoughts on that are that it may have gotten pushed back a bit by the revamp and delay of implementing the Alpha slot based on Beta testers feedback.
But that's just an idea swirling around in my extremely empty head, not something I directly asked anyone about since it didn't fully flesh out in my head until after things were over and the devs were gone. -
Quote:The answers I heard about that are that it's likely going to be about a 3 month warning, possibly 4 months. I
Now if they'll do something about the "We're announcing it 2 weeks from now" penchant they have, maybe I can attend the next one. It's all the last-minute announcement BS that's REALLY irritating.
wont name names since I talked to several people about this at various points during the weekend and don't want to attribute comments to the wrong people.
They didn't like the short notice this year either but those working on the planning were told basically that they could either do it with little notice or not do anything. The "not do anything" option was one they didn't want to set a precedent for, so they chose the lesser evil of "really short notice".
Oddly, I didn't get the long survey (the one that really matters to me). I've looked through all my stuff and I have nothing like that. I was putting everything in the schwag bag they gave us when we got there, so it would all be in the same place.
Can you send me the survey after scanning but before filling it out Ko? I'd really appreciate it.
Oh, and it's a possibility (perhaps just a small possibility) that we may be getting future things like this during the summer, which would fit really well into my "outside the event" plans of being a D.O.M. and watching women wearing less clothing in public as they walk by me. They aren't looking at the events themselves being outside since you never know what the weather might do, but they'd like to be able to have it so that people visiting outside aren't shivering. Poor Megumi Yamato (Shin from Off The Cape). His shivering made us miss Turg and newchemicals at Schaub's on Friday since we stepped into a desert shop for coffee, etc and to be able to warm up. -
Well. Got home about 4 AM Central time and was going to post.
Computer wouldn't boot up. Worked briefly on it with no success. Will go into full troubleshooting mode later.
Got a short nap, fired up the laptopo to post and will deal with uploading pictures and such later.
For all who attended, it was great getting to see you again if we've met in the past and even better meeting those I'd not met before.
It was really fantastic that The Net joined us for our Friday night Justice dinner.
Also, a big shout out to Mike (also known as Bob). PM me your email address so I can send the breakfast pictures from Sunday.
If I fell down on any of the rides I was supposed to give, I sincerely apologize. I loaned my laptop to Off The Cape to help with their recordings of the panels, interviews, etc and didn't have access to the forums to double check things.
Hope to see you all (and more of you) at next year's gathering. -
Getting ready to leave the house. Have to pick up my nephew's GPS and a few items where he lives then headed to Austin to catch my morning flight.
If you are one of the ones I'm giving a ride to, please send an email to CoHTexasJustice@gmail.com with your flight details and I'll get back to you about where we'll meet up at the airport.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
For those wondering who to look for at the airport, here's a decent photo from last years M&G.

I'm terribly depressed that so many of the "usual suspects" will be missing this one as well.
And not just the usual suspects from Justice, but from Protector and other servers as well. -
I'd recommend turning off Ambient Occlusion. It is resource intensive and doesn't always play nicely with Anti-Aliasing and/or Anisotropic Filtering.
Make sure that you have the Launcher set to close after starting the game. There have been reports of memory leaks in the launcher, so leaving it running is counter-productive. I'd also recommend not having it start when Windows starts and not having it update automatically, again, mostly due to the reported memory leaks.
If it were me, I'd also turn the World Detail Level down to High. -
I think I'll have to go with this one by rhardo.
I have another that I love but I'm not sure if David Nakayama art is allowed. In case it is allowed, here it is.

Quote:Unfortunately, it doesn't take an hour for it to consider me idle and log me out. I've had it log me out after 30 minutes of being idle. I haven't been getting the random logout bug that others have, only the idle log out.
Talk about the forum log out thingy, apparently the idle cookie is set to log you out if you've not done anything on the forum for 1 hour.
And if it's a detailed discussion with lots of information to digest, it sometimes logs me out before I can go to the next page. I guess that's what I get for having it set to 100 posts per page. -
A simple exit of the game and restarting it should fix it as MikeRobe pointed out.
Some people have had success with simply using Alt-Tab to switch the focus to another window and then using Alt-Tab again to get back to the game, but I haven't had it occur again in order to test that one. -
Quote:The 186.40 driver is several years old. Not knowing what video card and OS you have makes it a bit difficult to recommend specific drivers.Well I get the drivers out of date message for NVIDIA and as far as I can tell they are up to date. (shows nvlddmkm 8.15.11.8640 I can't figure out how to paste graphic file here). Game says file version is from 07 but both NVidia Control Panel and GPU-Z disagree.
The only thing that does look out of date is the NVidia Control Panel which won't update. Don't see why that would effect the game though. Is game checking Control Panel? I do show the control panel driver as being 07, but update just says "Failed to load" and ends.
You could run DXDiag and check the date there or run CoH Helper and check the date in the output from that. -
