Has there been a change in ATI compatibility?

I've recently been unable to log on to City of Heroes due to my graphics card being supposedly incompatible with the game, despite the fact that I have used it with no issues as recently as two weeks ago. The specific error I get says that my ATI Mobility Radeon 5870 is currently unsupported and I need to have at least a Radeon 8500 for it to work. Will I actually need to upgrade my hardware to continue playing or is this merely part of the whole Issue 21 madness?

Edit: I attempted to update my drivers to get it to work, but the drivers off the ATI website (Catalyst 11.11, I believe) refused to function on my computer and the drivers available from my computer's manufacturer are no different from what I already have. Not sure if this is ultimately relevant but I thought I should mention it.

ATI's numbering is a bit odd: an 8500 is an ancient card (released in mid-2001), while a 5870 is much newer. Your card is quite capable of running CoH, so the problem is simply that it's not being detected properly.

Is that an All-In-One? I think I still have my 7500 in my "for sale" pile. :-p

I'd recommend using the 11.9 drivers. Also, following the recommended procedure of uninstall, boot to safe mode and run Driver Sweeper, boot to normal mode and install the 11.9 driver.

Without the full OS details I can't give a link to the drivers, but it's easy to find sites with the files by using Mobility 11.9 Drivers as the search phrase

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
