How are VIP's (whatever that is you said that is too profane for the forums)? VIP's lose nothing compared to what they have now. They actually gain new things in Freedom that we didn't have before. Free monthly sig arcs, 400 Paragon Points per month, a free server transfer per month.

For example: I have a corruptor that I managed to drag to lvl17. After I hit 20 I could spend ~1 hour a day for four days switching her to hero side. Or I could just delete her and re roll, then get back to 17 in less time than it would take to switch sides. Im already changing alignment in 1 day against the devs wishes, but it is still inconvenient for me.
No, You aren't changing alignment in one day. You are creating a totally new character that may have the same name. It certainly isn't the same archetype and doesn't have exactly the same powers (unless you create it in Praetoria). And if you do create it in Praetoria, it isn't even from this universe/dimension/planet/however you want to define the CoH designe.

Changing alignment doesn't change what the character has done in the past or what they've experienced. It builds on the past and those experiences. When you roll a new character they do not have that history and they have not experience the things the previous character had done.

Not at all the same thing.

And that particular argument is still wrong. GR did not include Incarnates. We got Incarnates with the launch of Issue 19. Yes, GR was required to be able to access the Incarnate system, but Incarnates were not included with the launch of Going Rogue.

It's very similar to when CoV launched. There were base portals everywhere, but unless you had applied CoV to your account, people that had bought CoH had no access to bases even though they could see the portals. CoV was required for CoH accounts to be able to access bases. Period.

So, even if you go strictly by your previous definition that you should have access to whatever content was included when you bought the box, that would leave out the Incarnate content since it wasn't included in the GR box.

GR and Issue 18 (for those that didn't purchase GR)released on August 16, 2010. Issue 19 released on November 30, 2010. That's slightly over 3 months between release dates. Well outside the timeframe of "included with the box purchase".

EDIT: Yes, I'm well aware that the Incarnate content was at one time planned to be a part of GR. I'm also aware that there was going to be a preview of the Alpha Slot as part of GR. It didn't make the cut, so it wasn't included. There goes the "included in the box" or even "it was supposed to be included in the box but was pulled". At one time, Origins were supposed to matter. Things change.

No clue. Don't play other games. The one other game I did try for a short time (it was a gift, the first month was free) I don't recall seeing any "level icon". Come to think of it, that interface had me fairly confused most of the time anyway. I might have seen some type of "level icon" but not clicked it due to not knowing what it was or what it might do.

Eh. I figured they'd show a wrinkled, dog-eared Xeroxed version of The Course of Superhero Romance.

If it is a network issue, that would only be a temporary solution since Jawbreaker would only be able to play until the next patch and then would have an out-of-date client again.
True, but it would be nice to know if the Launcher would work with updated files or if there was a different problem. Just a method to try to eliminate some of the possibilities. IF it worked we'd know it wasn't a problem in the game files on the system. If it didn't work, it would eliminate that as a source of the problem.

Just a thought of one way to eliminate things one at a time.

  13. According to the Devs, an alignment change is rather significant. That's why there are limits on how many tip missions you can get credit for in a certain timespan. That's why there are multiple tip missions and an alignment mission required to make a shift halfway from villain to hero or hero to villain. Whereas a respec requires one mission to accomplish, and it's not really that difficult of a mission anymore. That's a huge difference in time investment alone.

As for the granted respecs, they only grant free respecs either through Veteran Rewards (significant time investment) or changes to powers that are significant enough to warrant a freespec.

The Devs have stated in the past that they don't want alignment changes to be akin to flipping a light switch, so I doubt that we'll see any alignment shifts as easy as you want it (a 1 time power usage).

Given what I know of several of the posters here I'll have to go with "everyone except the OP is right".

It also matches my own experience. You can't target yourself and have not been able to since (at least) late February/early March 2004 when I got into Beta.

  18. Listing 50's

Texas Justice - Alpha unlocked, slotted with Spiritual Boost.
Texas Lawdawg - Alpha not unlocked
Eyes of Texas - Alpha unlocked, unslotted
Texas Guard - Alpha not unlocked
Texas Longbow - Alpha not unlocked

Not any interest in going further given the available options.

I do not, however, at this time require another cat character. I've already go Admiral Whiskers and Dame Frisky Tibbles.

If I could get a costume, I'd probably be able to figure out a name. If I could figure out a name, I might be able to get an appropriate costume. But without one or the other, I'm stuck.
If you played on Virtue instead of Justice, you'd likely have many, many more cat characters than you currently have.

Quite a few people back then were creating throwaway alts on other servers for people to invite to their SG since they were awarding a large amount per member. Those people would then reciprocate by making throwaways alts on the first persons servers for the same reason.

I think I still have a dozen alts on one of the servers from doing that. They all look alike and are named similarly (TJ Alt 1, TJ Alt 2, etc).

I see no difference to it, the files have different extensions it's true. One only contains language specific text (as far as I can see) while the others contain much the same but are in a plain text format.

If I'm told by a community rep or dev that I must not do this I won't, but I would expect all similar hacks to be dealt with in the same way. But as it stands I don't see how removing an in effect keybind from a menu is any worse than putting all my pet commands in one place or making a huge array of custom emotes or text strings.

I think the relevant information from Cuppa's post is this part:

    Quote:

    You may not (a) sublicense, rent, lease, loan or otherwise transfer the Software for profit; (b) modify, adapt, reverse engineer or decompile the Software, or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the Software; (c) create any derivative works in respect of the Software or the Service;
As Snow Globe has mentioned, the map packs, popmenu, sound files, and the rest do not modify the software. They add additional files to the computer, but they don't modify the software. Editing the .bin files is modifying the software.

I could have sworn I installed from the AE disk on one computer I was testing, back shortly after AE came out. It didn't install any version of the NCSoft launcher, only the game itself and the old updater.

Wish I knew a bit more about your location in relation to a friend of mine that lives somewhere in that vicinity. I'd have him update one of his computers that CoH is installed on and make you a DVD of the installation folder minus his costume files, screenshots, logs, custom critters and the like. I haven't talked to Plas for a while or I'd see if he could get in touch with you and try to help you out there.
