  1. I'm extra confused now. Is the "special account wide badge" being awarded at all of those events also? Or just the Freedom on the 27th?

  3. I'm with you Eva. Apparently a new list of words went in with the last patch. "Aragon" seems to be one of them, so everything with "Paragon" in the title is now flagged unusable. Also "spider". "Sentry" "Emerald" ....a lot more. Most of my character groups (previously existing) have been flagged unusable. Basically, really pissed off right now.

    If they change the badges to read "Rocketman/Rocketwoman" and "Ironman/Ironwoman" based on character gender and then add the ability to change genders of the character, will the badge title change also?

    Because the ranged damage modifier is a fixed number across the whole AT - if they increased that then all ranged attacks that use the modifier would be boosted too, not just the lacklustre PPP attacks (i.e. it would make Spines Stalkers ridiculously overpowered).

    Following you around? It doesnt move once cast. It doesn't "follow" anything. The point being made in the earlier post is that Storm powers in general may have a great effect, but they are NOT targetable. Tornado? It may decide to attack anything in range, and switches targets rapidly. Freezing Rain is a patch on the ground. Snowstorm is hardly an attack, and oh sure, let's throw 02 boost in there, it has great range.... I kill stalkers alll the time with it .....

    Thank you. I honestly didn't think you'd listen to us. However, you did. Thank you. I am not as disillusioned as I was before the nerf was even announced (and I was getting there).

    Well it's certainly possible that all of the power data is kept together and up to date. But is that excel sheet driving the data, or is it generated based upon data changes in the code base?

    If it's the former, than it would be very easy for anyone at Cryptic to check the numbers on a power. It would also be something of a headache to review past revisions, since every change made to any power would all be revisions on the same document.

    If it's the latter, then I stand by my assesment of the difficulty for a given developer to get numerical data. That would be something Geko might generate for himself, and it might not be readily available to everyone else.


    It's certainly irritating when the players are aware of a change and cannot get confirmation, but how many erronious claims are made on the boards every day? Heck, how many erronious bugs are reported in-game every day?

    I'm not trying to imply that anything wrong has occured here - I'm just describing why, in my mind, this type of oversight is totally within the realm of normal, and is not evidence of any incompetency on the part of the Cryptic staff.

    What I think you are missing here is not how to look up that changes have been made, but don't you think someone somewhere has to make a decision to make those changes in the first place?

    The way you are describing it, it sounds like the programmers just go in and say "Let's change this today, and see what happens..."

    I'm not a programmer, I'm not even in IT, but if you work at a corporation or any business, you do not just go in and fiddle with the product without a decision being made to change things by someone, somewhere.

    Here's something that is very very sad and disturbing. We have to rely on other Players for honest information about the game, because we can't trust the missives from the company itself.

    Its been over a year, and we still cant get accurate or complete patch notes from the Developers. This leads me to believe they either dont keep an accurate change log themselves, or simply dont care about keeping the player base informed, which runs contrary to their stated goal of making sure players dont make uninformed decisions.

    Surely, after over a year of not doing a compentant job of communicating information to the players accurately or promptly, its time for some kind of action on Cryptic's part.

    hmm. This was said by the same people that originally said nothing had changed until they were shown the changes, that they themselves had made? ....and I'm supposed to believe them now ? Having some trouble with the logic there.
  20. I hope everyone enjoyed Kinetics pre issue 4, because they gutted it in PVE and PVP. I would not reccomend it as a powerset anymore. Gee I'm glad I worked and spent the time to get to 50 with it before it was ruined.

    The big three in the Kinetics set are Transfusion, Transference and Fulcrum shift. The others are all useful powers, but those make up the most powerful and effective in the set, IMO. I think it depends on how you are looking at it.

    It's like a set of tools, and I think Kinetics is the most adaptable and varied or the tool sets availible. "Hold" powers aside, Controllers offer a variety of options at managing conflicts, offsetting or negating foes, and increasing the effeciancy of a team.

    Pointing at enemies and making them stand still is all well and good, but manipulating them to achieve your goals seems a much broader concept. Flash is the hold power in the Illusion set, but if thats all you wanted to do, other controller power sets would be more suited.

    Deceive I use more often on foes that buff, heal or otherwise aid the foes, like for example, the Sky Raiders force feild generators, turning their defense to my use.

    The "tank in my pocket" you are referring to I guess the Phantom Army. Whatever your character concept is, that summoned spirit, or psycho-projection, or however you refer to it, is your attack form, Controlling the forces of the spirit world, the energies or the world around you, again, whatever fits your character concept, in the same way a Fire Blaster has fireball, or a Radiation Defender has X-ray beam.

    A better way to start would be to look at what you want the character to be able to do, and then build the power set you want to achieve those ends. What is it that makes your character a controller as opposed to a "weak blaster"? Start with the concept of what you want to do and build from that.

  23. I would prefer keeping some form of turning Global chat on and off when I log in rather than the /ghide function. Why have it automatically enabled? How would switching it on and off when you wanted to use it harm anyone?

    While there would be some changes to adjust to with such a change, I don't think it will be as negative as implied. My primary is a scrapper, but I've been playing more and more of my defender alt lately. One thing I've noticed is that with my defender, I have to be much more selective with my mobs. Can I solo the same mob make-ups and levels as my scrapper? Hardly. However, if I adjust to the next con level down, I can solo quite fine. Sure the xp isn't the same, and it takes a bit longer, but I can solo quite easily.

    I also find that with the defender, the mob cons are more in line with what the rulebook indicates they should be for toughness. 3 white cons, my scrapper would go through them like a hot knife through butter. With my defender, it's a hard fight. If the hps increase (along with xp) then it will simply be a matter of adjust to it. If the whtie cons are too tough, then start hitting the blues instead. Or smaller groups of white cons. With missions, the -1 lvl for soloing was extremely easy for my scrapper. For my defender it's just right.

    The point is, you _can_ solo with any class in the game. Providing you can adapt or adjust to the circumstances. The problem is, many expect to be able to have a Defender or Controller solo at the same level cons as a scrapper or tanker. Apples and oranges, in my book.

    That fine and great. For Mob Hunting. You don't get to CHOOSE who you fight in a mission. If they screw up the missions so you HAVE to play a scrapper to solo ANY missions, which is the case on the test server, why would anyone ever what to play anything else? And they claim to be worried about "balance"? How balanced is it going to be when noone wants to play other AT's?
