Quote:Just as a comparison point to this one.If that random mission door or TF/SF contact was the only location in the zone to access literally hundreds of thousands of story arcs, and there weren't more than a few people there, I'd definitely say something is wrong. Or, to put it another way - if every mission in a zone were tied to one mission door, or if every TF or SF were tied to one contact, you'd damn well better expect there to be a decent amount of activity at that location. Anything else is indicative of a problem. If players could pick their own contact locations and mission entrances, you'd have a point.
For about 2-3 weeks before I16 I was running Unai's To Save a Thousand Worlds arc from Ouroboros over and over and rarely saw anyone in Portal Corps.
Since I16 there are people there and often at the portals to the missions.
I think a lot of the PLing moved back to PI but not all of it so there was not a complete population shift from Atlas Park's AE to PI but that plus all the broadcasts about sewer teams in Atlas Park make me think we didn't lose people as much as they went back to old ways of playing. I think any online population drop could also be explained by Aion, CO, returning to school... -
Quote:There's also the always neutral possibility if someone creates a new character in Praetoria and never goes good or evil.Well, if I did have to venture a guess at what might be coming up for SGs, I might have to venture this:
I could easily see the devs borrowing another page from DAoC and having three factions after GR: Heroes, "Neutrals" (for lack of a better term), and Villains. In regards to base raids, Hero bases could be raided by Neutrals and Villains; Villain bases could be raided by Neutrals and Heroes; and Neutral bases could be raided by Heroes and Villains.
There might be some lateral movement with memberships. From Ten Ton Hammer:
So it sounds like there will actually be four levels of morality: Hero, Vigilante, Rogue, and Villain. This could also apply to SG membership. For example, SGs could have Hero and Vigilante members; VGs could have Villain and Rogue members; while NGs (Neutral Groups) could only have Vigilantes and Rogues. Therefor, if a Vigilante knowingly crossed the line into Villain territory and became a Rogue or Villain, I'd imagine that character would be automatically removed from a SG once the PPD put him/ her on the Most Wanted list, so to speak. -
That deserves a special badge.
I am stunned at that level of perseverence. -
Paragonwiki has some information on new changes to the Halloween event for those not minding spoilers.
If you like badges, you may want to see what you have to do. -
Does anyone know if a sender gets notified if the recipient isn't accepting their emails?

I think one odd thing in HEATS vs VEATs to me is that I don't much care for Peacebringers but I love Warshades and I don't much care for Soldiers but I love the Widows so I don't exactly get the black and white comparisons at the Khelds vs VEATs level.
Perhaps it would be better to discuss what could be improved with Khelds?
Personally I really feel that they need more slots when they choose the forms though I can understand the reasoning of not giving more than 1 per power. -
Quote:I tend to agree with your assessment of Kheldians but I am not 100% convinced it is a design flaw as much as a difference of design approach not unlike (to me) fire tankers compared to invulnerability tankers.
Translation: You never know what you're going to get with a Khel due to the sloppy design of the AT.
No translation needed.
Translation: Sometimes a Khel can outshine a player of a regular AT, but please keep in mind that there are bad builds and bad players out there.
Translation: Due to the klunky design, long shift animations and poor to situationally decent DPS, Khels are at a disadvantage at the get go.
I really struggled with both PBs and Warshades for a long time and shelved them repeatedly and then I found a really effective way to play them (tri-form is the only way I enjoy them).
On the one hand I have my bots/FF mastermind which I barely need to pay attention when playing but on the other I have my warshade who requires (by me) a lot more attention when playing. There are probably far more of my characters I would lump in the not needing attention bin than in with the warshades but is it really so wrong to have ATs or powersets within certain ATs that are more attention needing?
I guess I appreciate the variety.
As to the never knowing what you will get, this is very true of Khelds however I think we have all seen enough bad players (and bad pug stories) to know there is never any guarantee with other people. Granted the probability of a horrible Kheld is much higher than a horrible (other AT) but I am still not convinced that it is a bad thing.
We need our Booster Golds. -
Quote:This is one big reason why I always laugh at the anti-market crowd.I'll point out that even as distracted as I was this weekend, I still found time to vendor generic IO recipes just because I could!
This sort of apathy can get you kicked out of the club, sir!
I'm not that into the market and would rather smash enemies and I can still get my warshade purpled in a reasonable timeframe without farming. Granted I have to use Ouroboros/street sweeping/radios now that I consumed all my contacts' missions but still.
I'd also rather spend it than save it. -
I wonder how well my fire/psy dom and warshade can do. I run on a pretty wimpy +0/x3 mode.

I need to turn in my ebil card.
I saw no spell scrolls for sale in the Black Market and the last 5 had prices of 10k, 100k and even 1 million and I didn't care enough to even list the handful I had. (or is that ebil?!)
I was too busy leveling. -
This isn't one of those things that are only available on certain body types, is it?

Quote:Where I live they somewhat do it right. They have defined the times to trick or treat at 5-8 and ask people to turn on their porch lights to indicate they are participating. I balk at being told the exact times to do it but at least it will be dusk to dark at those times.I agree. When I was a child, we started trick-or-treating when the sun went down and knew which doors to go to cause they left their porch lights on for us. Nowadays, it's recommended to STOP when it gets dark.
I don't get it either.
And they refer to the Trick-or-Treaters as beggars which is technically correct (the best kind of correct) but it is a bit annoying to me. They should have just called them Trick-or-Treaters and not beggars. -
Quote:Though one of the many problems with just written communication is sometimes people completely misread what the intention is. You think it is nice or funny and someone takes it completely the wrong way.Well, I suppose one could take the viewpoint that "If you can't think of anything nice to say, shut the f--- up" is a suggestion.

Quote:I may be reading this wrong http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=194258 but it seems to me closed beta starts on October 24 for the Hero Con attendees who sign the NDA.Going Rogue closed beta begins!
Well, that would be nice if it did. -

Quote:I agree with everything you wrote plus I would like more destructible objects like in mayhem missions put into regular missions and if possible outdoor zones' events. In truth there are a few things I'd like changed:
1) More maps drawn from the random tileset, ths is what got old the fastest with me.
2)More outside stuff to do. War Zone does this well, Hami raids are semi-interactive in the spawning, the PvP zones have mini-games as well which are very cool. I'd love to see one more 'outside' objective at least.
3)Interesting boss fights. As much as I love the 3 Cold 1 Kin + Damage team makeup that steamrolls stuff, having bosses with resistances/defenses to various items based on health level would be awesome.
Outside of that, I have fun...though Accoing toons I might PvP with is getting a little old -
Quote:We have login queues now. It should at least lead to different posts this weekend. My plan is to log onto Freedom early before it grays out and then sit my character down in the SG base so he won't auto log out while I go play chess, just to take up a Freedumb spot all weekend long! Muahahahahahahaha!
Nah, I'll be on virtue redside getting my lesser played alts to level 27 to slot up with lvl 30 common IOs. -
Account reactivation would be driven by the NCSoft account system but 2xp is IIRC turned on by a flag on each server. It is possible you are on a server that was not turned on.
-
I do wonder if he is also unlitigated.
-
-
We'd already have this if the devs didn't hate the players.
-
It's the pre-2xp maintenance so they won't be doing it tomorrow.
Monday's announcement of it is here

Quote:I must have a knack for finding them. I've even popped into people's missions for them and found them though that time I was level 16 in a level 35+ Paragon Protector mission and the guy hadn't cleared it was a bit hairy. I get mad at myself when I have to turn the sound on to find them. The operations/support center I work with has five overlapping shifts, with dozens of tier-1 and tier-2 analysts. Scripts insure you follow the same procedure each time, regardless of analyst and shift. And you have no idea how many metrics are turned out in support centers to measure how well they're doing.
Sorry to hear some have less than stellar experiences with GMs. Mine have always been solved. In fact (as Sam showed above), we have a joke about not being able to find the last blinkie: Send in a petition. You'll find it one minute later.
