Does that even work any more? I've tried "clustering" a few times since I21 went live and haven't gotten a single PvP IO drop.

Quote:From the guy at CERN who used to work on the Mars orbiter mission team:That is...neat.
Hopefully it really is what it seems to be and won't just end up as "Oops, we didn't really break it. Just a data error." a few months down the line.
Sorry. Our speed calculations were measuring the distance from Geneva to Italy in kilometers and not miles.

Just checking to see if anyone has received a PvP IO drop since I21 hit...
-
Curious...
So if I convert inf to prestige, does it show that additional prestige by my character under the SG membership roster, or does it only show prestige earned through missions? -

There was some reference not too long ago about a fix they had in mind to stop pvp io farming. Maybe this was it?

Quote:I like EvilGeko's ideas, but I would add that the next wave's timer should start when the last spawn is defeated, and the timer between subsequent waves should decrease with each additional wave. E.g.,:I would make the following changes:
- Stop spawning enemies -1 or -2 to the mission in the Reactor. This isn't 2005, people can handle even level spawns;
- Trigger the next spawn to occur like they do in the Incarnate trials. Give people a timer. Put some tension into the trial. It should be possible to have spawns doubled up.
As for the "But people need respecs" argument. That's plainly bunk. Don't do the trial with 8 people whose builds are weak. On most servers there you can find characters who can solo the Reactor room pretty readily.
Wave 1 defeated
Wait 1 min to spawn wave 2
Wave 2 defeated
Wait 45 secs to spawn wave 3
Wave 3 defeated
Wait 30 secs to spawn wave 4
...
I think this would build the tension level as the trial proceeds and eventually the spawns would come one after another forcing you to make decisions as to whether to re-bubble or keep fighting. -
I'm sorry, what's not true? That the OP might want to do this, or that you can slot the two builds differently?
-
You might want to consider using your alternate character slot for a farming build.
That way you have one slotted for regular play and another for farming in AE. -
What's the current thinking by you market gurus of the affect on PvP IO's with the launch of Freedom?
Is PvP access restricted in any way for Free or Premium users, or is it only limited access to the market and Inventions that will be affected?
The reason I ask, is that it seems as though PvP IO prices have been falling. Are people dumping these on the market in anticipation of decreased demand? -
On a somewhat related topic, I wonder if all the 'server upgrades' and issues might not be related to a transition to a virtualized server infrastructure. This would provide them with better resource scalability and could provide them with an infrastructure that might support merging servers in the future should they choose to do so. (Not that I am advocating this.)
The first step in virtualizing the CoH infrastructure would be to consolidate the physical servers to a single data center location, which I think was already done when they moved the EU servers stateside.
Battling I/O issues, having groups of servers crash simultaneously, ... these would all be indicative of taking a handfuly of physical servers and virtualizing them onto a single hardware platform. -
...and violated the terms of the new EULA by using what appears to be your real name in the thread title.
"You warrant and represent that You will not use any Service, Content or Software to provide any information that could be used, directly or indirectly, by another user of the Game to identify You in the real world. "
Have you seen that new EULA? Wowza. -
and run in windowed mode. there seem to be issues using alt-tab to switch between active full screens -- or at least there used to be.

EB's worked the last time I did this, but it was some time ago.
I was seeing if I could solo my way through the arc, so I dropped my settings to turn them into EBs. Is that cheating? -
And if you're on campus, make sure you can even play CoH from behind your school's firewall. I know the firewall at my daughter's school blocks necessary ports.

2x maintenance on 2XP weekend. The only logical compensation is to 2x 2XP for a 4XP weekend ExTrAvAgAnZa!!!

I think it's the other way around.
Think of it as a browser -- you send a single line url request up and you download a page full of content. So the smaller number is the upload speed and the bigger number is the download speed. -
FWIW I have the old 20/5 plan for my household of 5. We have 3 Verizon set top boxes (whole house DVR deal). We also get the phone service as part of the triple play.
My son and one daughter play the "other MMORPG" and I play this one. My other daughter is on facebook and skype a lot. Wife does email and web browsing mostly. We also have a media center PC hooked up that streams NetFlix, hits Hulu, and works as a high def DVR for non PPV channels.
Performance is fine for what we do. As payer of the FiOS bills, I put in some QoS priority rules on the Verizon router to make my computer king of the hill.
One other thing you may want to ask about when you order -- at one point FiOS was rolling out HD DVRs with larger capacity and with the eSATA port turned on for adding an external drive. This made it out to some regions but not others. You may want to ask for that particular set top box - I think it had a 500GB internal drive instead of 160GB. You may be able to figure out which box it is by looking at the FiOS forums on dslreport.com. I know with the DVR I have, the drive fills up fast if recording HD. Our general rule is watch HD, record SD. This is also why I have the media center PC that can record in HD.
Hope this helps. -
I've always felt a similar lack-o-love for the Batman. He's just a guy with a fortune in cash, a quick mind and a gadget belt. Nothing really super there.
To each their own. -
I've noticed this too when dual boxing. I seem to be able to go for quite a bit longer if I run in windowed mode and shrink or minimize the windows.
The other thing I have happen occurs when I go to quit to desktop or to login. This will often hang once I've started a second instance. -
They could have at least put a red shirt on him and have him be killed immediately after saying that.

No problem! $1000 for the 17" laptop, and $1000 to use for upgrade seating for the extra 4 inches. Problem solved!
I would still recommend the G-series laptops from ASUS. I'm pretty sure there's a G53 series laptop that matches that spec above but has a 15" screen instead.
The other nice thing about ASUS is the included 1yr accidental damage warranty for drops, spills, surges, fire, etc.
