Gaming laptop
How much do you want to spend?
I just got an email with this laptop advertised. It looks pretty nice!

ASUS does make a pretty good gaming rig, and I'm not personally a fan of Alienware. The link posted above looks pretty solid to me: 2.0GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of 1333MHz memory, a 500GB hard drive, and an nVidia GTX 460M, all very nice for a (relatively affordable) gaming laptop.

I'm not too worried about the cost though I'm hoping to spend less than $2000; the most important thing to me is getting my money's worth. I'm looking for a laptop small enough to play on an airplane, though, so probably smaller than 17".
No problem! $1000 for the 17" laptop, and $1000 to use for upgrade seating for the extra 4 inches. Problem solved!
I would still recommend the G-series laptops from ASUS. I'm pretty sure there's a G53 series laptop that matches that spec above but has a 15" screen instead.
The other nice thing about ASUS is the included 1yr accidental damage warranty for drops, spills, surges, fire, etc.

Heading over to look through them now, thanks
Am getting this puppy myelf. Currently have a Asus G60. Couldnt be happier with the brand. Alienware is a Dell. Dell and I do not get along well.

The brand has gone downhill since Dell bought it - or is it that it has stood still and someone built a mountain over the top of them.
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant
I've had experience with Alienware through my job prior to their becoming involved with Dell, and their customer service was just the worst. It took them six weeks to get me a friggin' replacement CMOS battery, which, of course, was proprietary, so I couldn't just grab one from the local computer parts store.
That was the final straw, but I had plenty of issues between the start of our partnership and then, such as receiving cracked or improperly-installed laptop chassis, specs not matching the orders and once getting a completely different model than we ordered--I think they actually tried to tell me that we'd have to pay for the wrong model anyway.
We actually switched to Dell after all that, and haven't had any real problems since. At the very least, Dell's customer service gets <stuff> done.
(The reason my company was using Alienwares to begin with was because, for the longest time, they were the only company that produced a laptop that used two hard drives, and we required 2 striped drives for video capture performance.)

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a new laptop specifically for playing City of Heroes. (My old laptop is too outdated.) I am leaning towards getting the Alienware M14x, what I am wondering is do any of you have this one and what are your opinions? This is a huge purchase so I would love some feedback before I go buy something.
Thanks
