Good news guys! These boards will not be following suit (for the foreseeable future, anyway).

Oh, no doubt we should definitely discuss the ISSUE. That's a healthy debate and one worth having. It's just that we need to keep it on a level of not singling out particular developers or games when talking about it, if we want to be able to keep talking about it on these boards.
My opinion? It's a horribly bad idea, for one major reason that was already mentioned - identity theft. Bearing in mind that with someone's name and a little work in checking things like Google, Facebook, Twitter - you can potentially find out someone's appearance, address, email address, phone number, and from there, commit fraud...
I applaud the decision to try and do something about the forum-trolling, but enforced use of real names is not the answer. -
Not sure about Macs in particular, but on Windows there's a separate "screenshots" subfolder in the main City of Heroes folder.

Isn't it possible to kick off an invasion by completing the "Save the World!" mission from one of the RWZ story arcs? Or am I getting confused with the LGTF?
The only problem with the method is of course, that invasion can turn up either blueside OR redside... -
Just a thought - it's probably best not to discuss the actions of other MMO developers or their forums, unless you fear not the mighty threadlockhammer...

Quote:To answer the recurring question:
What happened to Moderators 9, 10, and 11?
They were accounts that existed on the old (r)uBB(ish) forums. It seems that the accounts didn't make the transfer. That, or they were merged into the now defunct Super Moderator.
Anyway, 12 was the next number, and so our new mod is Mod12.
Aww, how disappointing. I was thinking Mod12 ate their brains on his rise to glory.
...anyhoo, welcome aboard! -
Doh!! Ok, so I was wrong on the caps. Kitsune hit the nail on the head - I was thinking of how it shows under Real Numbers. Original post edited

I was going to say things along the lines of what's already been said - Rikti Warzone, Hamidon raids and high-level TFs are the real end-game meat. As for what keeps it fun for me - it's the other people, really. I can happily do any content I've done even a hundred times before if I'm having a laugh while I'm at it, but I guess that goes for any MMO.
Something noone else mentioned just yet... the missions from levels 35-50 tend to feel MUCH more epic. I hear ya when you say the missions are getting repetitive, sadly that's a byproduct of the old days, but the more recently created arcs are fresher, have more variety and are more entertaining. In particular, I'd check out the following contacts -
Keith Nance (Talos Island, 20-24)
Jenny Adair (Talos Island, 25-29)
All the Rikti War Zone contacts (35+, these go Levantera, Serpent Drummer, Gaussian, Dark Watcher - Borea is last but gets repetitive)
Maria Jenkins (Peregrine Island, 45+)
And later on, if you haven't done them whilst levelling already, the Faultline arcs are good too (Jim Temblor, Doc Delilah then Agent G). -
Beyond all the stats and inherents already mentioned, the way each plays is very different too. Tanks are as you'd expect, you're managing aggro and taking the pain so they're best played on teams - as such Kinetic Melee would not be as important as your primary powerset anyway.
Scrappers I find are just overcharged bundles of aggression waiting to be let loosebuilt right, they are easily survivable *enough* but have high damage output.
Brutes are a curious mix of the two - you have the potential to be more survivable than a scrapper, and you'll be generating more aggro than one, but the Fury inherent encourages you to keep attacking to keep your damage up. So the "ball of flying fists" mentality comes in again here too.
Stalkers are very much hit-and-run specialists, especially solo - and they spend a lot of time solo since sadly, not many people seem to want one on a team. They're squishier than the other melee ATs but also get the benefit of REALLY high burst damage when attacking from hiding.
What ATs do you play at the moment, and what do you find most fun about them? What's not so fun?

Quote:Reminds me of Goku and Gohan's "perma-Supersaiyan" state. These so called "Super Permadom 2" and "Super Permadom 3" levels are far from practical and usually result in a waste of recharge and loss of other potential advantages, just a FYI.
Trunks: "Does that mean he'll undergo an even huger transformation during battle?"
Vegeta: "Idiot! Use your eyes and ears! Being in Supersaiyan form as a natural state reduces the strain on their bodies. Darn, it's ingenious!" -
Quote:...really? I'll have to check this out - if Tactics gives +Perception as well, I might just respec, as it's the only ancillary I'm still using on that toon... my other reason for having it is the 6-slot bonus for Gaussian's, but hey, Tactics will take that too.FA seems useful... until you realize that it provides less improvement for your end chance to hit than Tactics does
-
The only time I've ever noticed serious defense debuff problems on my /SR is against two very specific types of enemies - Cimerorans, and BP masks (and let's face it, that's when the toon is levelling anyway). The rest of the time you can quite happily suffer the (at worst) 1% drop and not notice any issues. So, going for Aid Self was a wise move.
For what it's worth, I built mine on the fly rather than following a planned build - got mine to 45% on all positions first, then found as I went after other bonuses that I ended up with 47% melee and AOE and 49% (*gasp*!!) ranged. As you've got the build set, it doesn't look like you'll have that oversight. Oh well...!! -
Not forgetting that both Shield Charge and Dragon's Tail are great for knockdown. Keeping a mob off its feet will add greatly to survivability - for this reason I'd build for high recharge, and add Air Superiority in there too.
-
I can't comment on some AT's, since I only have a small stable of toons high enough. But I will say this about the pools and powers I know -
BLUESIDE:
) Focused Accuracy for scrappers - very useful. Though, admittedly a tray full of yellows will do the same job.
) Physical Perfection - again very useful, though IOs can fill the same job.
) Rise of the Phoenix for blasters - an AOE attack rez for (what I consider) a suicidal AT? Yes please!!
) Bonfire and Char for blasters - panic buttons for when things go really wrong, these are very handy.
REDSIDE:
) the whole of GW's pool for Masterminds - ...very meh. I didn't have many attacks by the time I reached the 40s so I picked up a couple here and have to say, I'm not impressed. I can see the armour being handy for tankerminds, though.
) Scirocco's pool for Brutes - ohh, hells yes. Electric Fences allows me to get the most out of Burn without everyone running away! So much fun. And some extra damage and slight endurance help from the other powers.
...I guess what I'm trying to say is - while I may not have the most informed opinion here - I've seen pretty much the same as Carnifax. MM's are the only ones who can really complain. -
Can I ask why you want to go weaponless specifically? Is it for concept, to avoid redraw, something else...?
My suggestion would have to be Martial Arts - the attack animations are so much fun, and you get a choice if you don't like any of them. However (and this is debateable) the set is considered by some to be a little underpowered compared to other scrapper primaries. -
I've managed a fairly awkward one myself. I'd just met up with someone I was... er... shall we say "starting to get romantically involved with", and sent out the following messages:
/t ladyfriend: had loads of fun - can't wait to see you again
teamchat: when are you free...?
...then managed to make a SECOND cockup, and sent:
/t ladyfriend: oops, mistell
So I had not only the whole team wondering what I'm going on about, but this poor girl wondering exactly who else I'm talking to...!! -
Quote:Purples have gone to the jerk hackers. But don't worry - they will be STRONG and PRETTY again Soon(tm).i was casually squidding a lobster when i got to wondering why the Devs hate purples...
Shortly after that i was being pursued by the half the PPD. It turns out that squidding lobsters violates three public decency statutes in Paragon City. (The fun ones, obviously.) It wasn't until some time after that when i'd caught my breath that i remembered that the Devs hate purples and started wondering again. -
This - *IF* you know how to play it well. What makes /SR very strong against Cimerorans is that the passives can take you to capped defense debuff resistance even with just SO's. However, to make the most of this on the ITF, you pretty much need to be at the cap or - preferably - *just* above it.
The other point to bear in mind is, without hefty buffs or debuffs from the team, even your defense means little if you give them a chance to bunch up. The Cimerorans get buffs from bunching together and I'm fairly sure, from observation, that one of them is to-hit, which writes off directly against your defense. The two ways around this are team buff/debuffs to offset it, or just kite the mobs like a crazy person. -
Two places I've seen BaBs recently -
) in Pocket D during the 6th anniversary celebrations.
) on the preview video on the Going Rogue website, where a few of the devs are on film.
So, it would take something pretty drastic for BaBs to have left/been booted since then I'd say.
*has visions of BaBs getting kicked out of the office after approving a puking emote* -
Quote:...I had no idea this was an option. That delay bugs the hell out of me. Thanks!!I like to mouse hover (I reduced tooltip delay to make this faster) over the target window to see exact HP remaining on a target sometimes
Back on topic - I too use the mouse a lot. Right button to move the camera, and left to select powers from the tray - I don't use any hotkeys for that.
I also use the arrows, with left and right to strafe, and Delete to jump. Right Ctrl and Right Shift are bound to next enemy and next friend. Those binds are all hangovers from my many years attempting to blow the heads off fellow UT/Quake players. -
Quote:I *LOVE* this idea. Retrofitting the game to fit this now would be horrific and cause too much uproar with existing builds... but for a possible CoX2? Sold.2. Tie recharge rate to endurance: This eliminates the need for recharge enhancements all together since, in this case, the more endurance you have, the faster your powers recharge. It's basically if you are tired, you tend to react slowers, meaning your powers recharge slower. Although toggles would require a bit of a discount, it would also mean that there would be almost no wait for toggle to recharge if your endurance is already full.
The reason I love it so much is a simple one. Having powers recharge slower when you have less endurance means you can't attack as often - so you're actively encouraged into letting your endurance build back up a little. I imagine it would be tricky to balance the endurance/recharge ratio so that it works this way, though. -
Oooh, ok, so not Argent Angel. Perhaps Argent Avenger then...?
(Alliteration always aspires to be a personal point of preference.) -
I most definitely wouldn't like to see all the TFs and SFs get "Master Of" badges. As it stands right now, they're a select few badges among only a few more that require genuine skill to get. As such, earning them gives you bragging rights and a sense of pride. Making many "Master Of" badges would cheapen having them, and that's even before you go into the TFs that would be easy to get them on.
...that said I'm all for one or two more. But it would have to be the right ones. Perhaps challenging new TFs coming in with Praetoria...? -
Agreed with the above, Brickstown is best for lower Crey mobs - but it sounds like you might have issues with the mob sizes. Inspirations are a good idea (3 small purples at once to pump up your defence should do it, with a green or two on backup just in case).
Alternatively, what I've done with some of my squishier alts is simply wait a couple of levels to do the mission which makes it MUCH easier.
...as someone quicker than I mentioned, you've got the aura mission at level 30 as well, from the City Hall rep in Atlas Park. That requires you go beat on some Rikti, some Crey and some Devouring Earth - that one WILL be a pain in the backside at level 30. Crey's Folly is the best place to find all 3 quickly but you'll definitely want to take inspirations along or try and outlevel it first. -
Quote:As already stated, when in combat, using attacks will swing your view round so you're facing your target. Otherwise - Page Down is your friend (the key for this can be changed in the Keymapping tab in Options).question 1: anyway to set the camera to auto-adjust i just find myself having some issues with the control of my field of vision. and often end up staring at my direction of travel or target in an awkward way or not at all.
What this does is pull the camera back to its default position - just behind your head. I usually play with this view anyway - I leave the middle mouse button alone entirely, and use the right mouse button to turn, which moves not only the camera but your character with it. Give this a try, let us know if it works for you.
