Looks like its becoming city of cave men / medieval.
[/ QUOTE ]
The archery sets started that for me; heck the broadsword/mace/hammer sets are in that territory, and they've been in the game since..forever.
I really hope now that the shield fan-service has been completed the devs start work on more 'proper' superpower sets, or at least delve more into the SF side of things.
I play CoH when I don't feel like playing a fantasy MMO... -

Grant Cover: You are able to use your sheild to defend nearby allies. Any teammates who remain nearby gain a bonus to their defense. (NOTE: The defense bonus from this power is only applied to nearby team mates, but not yourself.) Recharge slow
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this, but find it odd that it only applies to teammates, do they think it would be overpowered otherwise? It doesn't seem to make logical sense unless you turn around with your back to the enemy hold the shield in front of your friends...
There's a similar shield teammate defense power on my Orc tank in WAR, I can stand there doing nothing but holding my shield with my head down, giving any teammates who are standing behind me a defense boost - but it boosts my defense too, it depletes energy so you can't keep it up long.
Generally though, I still remain uninterested in the Shield powerset; hopefully now they've finally got it out of the way, they'll be able to work on something that interests me more. -

Although about 2 weeks ago I did say 'attack the enemy plz' after having buffs demanded (whilst they were still in effect) gawd-knows-how-many-times. I don't think the team spotted this as sarcasm.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've answered "heal!" with "taunt!" & "attack!" before now..it seemed to shut them up.
I stopped playing my kin/ and my /kin, I couldn't stand the never-ending, constant whining for SB in teams.
I think what you said about this being a problem with inexperienced people holds true - having been on the other end of it, I would never ask for any kind of buff (except once, out of desperation, requesting the heal-aura-on-auto-and-brain-afk Empath I was teamed with, use CM now and then to prevent yet *another* team wipe) people who ask for buffs annoy me.
If you constantly spam for heals (just like the Orc I was playing with the other night in WAR) other than putting yourself in danger of going to the bottom of my buffing queue, you will have no effect on me whatsoever. You will not get healed because you ask; you will get healed when the great god who must be obeyed - The Little Green Bar -tells me to.
Same goes for any other buffs; they're my fingers hitting my keyboard, they move when I tell them too; no-one else.
heck, I'd better put a </rant> here! -
Yeah, you have to love the 'stop the gang war by killing them all yourself' approach.
Arrresting, I meant arresting. -

Problem is Empaths cant solo even one tiny bit.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a difference between solo'ing and solo'ing as fast as a Blater or Scrapper.
If you're unable to solo I suggest you take a look at your build.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well you can slot yourself to be good at your primary task or semi good at your secondary task doing a bit of damage. I prefer to make my toon good at the primary job. But with dual builds in the future this could change.
But even then soloing badly is not my idea of fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
MY EMPATH CAN'T SOLO AS WELL AS MY SCRAPPER!! I DEMAND A DATAMINE!
ATs and powers are different in this game and is for the most part geared towards teaming. Imagine that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is fine and dandy if you can find a team.
My Empath couldn't solo to save her life, but back then I didn't need to.
I wouldn't play one now; not in the EU anyway. -

The thing that could possibly bring people in would be if the PVP was worked on to the extent that it was renowned for being excellent, unlike now which is the opposite, sadly. Even then, PVP is not everybodys thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
This game started without any PvP. Making PvP the be-all and end-all of this game would destroy the playerbase it has and would be highly unlikely to attract anyone new.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is true for me at least; I have zero interest in PvP in CoH, it feels tacked on and has no real bearing on the game. I partly chose CoH originally over WoW because of the lack of PvP. When I played WoW, I didn't PvP.
I'm currently playing WAR, which has PvP integrated with the PVE at such fundemental levels you never really feel like you're making a choice - it all feels like one game. The character classes were created from the start with PvP balance in mind, there's no such thing as a class that can't solo in PvE or can't contribute to PvP, regardless of minor balance issues...it just works; I've gone from someone who wouldn't play PvP in CoH & WoW, to someone who will happily play it in WAR, in any class. I haven't changed, it's the game.
To get more/better PvP into CoH, they'd probably have to start again with a CoH2 so they can have it there from the start - rebalance everything with it in mind; when I do come back to CoH (which I'm sure I will) I still doubt I'll be playing PvP; I'm sure the multiple build thing will go a long way to helping, but I'd be more likely to use it for team-based/solo PvE builds. -
[ QUOTE ]
The other PvP power changes, well its beasically a way to nerf powers in PvP without affecting PvE, which is a good thing for those who are mostly into PvE. I see Power Boost and Power Build Up as being top of the list to get this treatment.
[/ QUOTE ]
They may also be thinking of it as a way to boost PvE powers without unbalancing PvP? Justified or not, there have been long-standing grumbles about powers being nerfed in the past to serve PvP. -
Good luck RockJaw
I hear WAR might be looking for a new community manager who can deal with 'borderline sociopaths' without actually calling them that in public! -
Kids are for passing old PCs to when you upgrade...well, mine is.

I like BAB.
I don't know how he resists telling humourless whiners to just sod off and play WoW, frankly. -

"vent [my] spleens"

You have spare spleens?
Burn the deviant! -
I would opt out simply because they are all the same and it looks stupid.
Why on earth didn't they mix some of the old fake ads in there? -

One last thing, I fully expect EA to really jump on the MMO bandwagon in a big way soon.

And you think Bioware's Star Wars Old Republic MMO (or Cryptic's Star Trek Online, for that matter) will probably kill EVE Online?

I think KOTORO could kill every other MMO in existance.

Only if they put near naked elf chicks in it -

Personally I just don't like the lull we've got at the moment, it feels like this year has been treading water for the most part so far (at least from this side where we know little to nothing about whats to come).
Personally for me WAR is more likely to steal me a way for a bit. Which may be a good thing in terms of having a little break and coming back whenever i13 and 14 materialise.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm getting the 'teading water' feeling too; but this is my second visit to this game; I played for a year, went and played WoW for a year then came back, it seems a year or so continuous play in any MMO is my limit.
I've been here 16 months this time and for the last 3 I've been getting itchy feet and resisting resubscribing to WoW for a break.
Two things have kept me from doing thet: first, I have a Lotro sub, I can play that for a few days a month as a break (and the game feels so light because I've never really committed to it, I just dip in and out) and second, WAR is about to come out and it looks very much like WoW minus many things that niggled me.
CoH itself has not made me want to stay, nothing that has been announced will get me continuing my sub past October; I hope that when I'm ready to give the game another go it will have a lot more to offer than it does right now. -

How do I get the various badges and things in a PvP zone if I'm primarily a PvE person and want, say, an accolade power? I have ZERO interest in PvP, but I have to put up with being hounded by idiots who ignore a simple "Please, I'm just here to get a badge" broadcast? I'm not a sore loser. I don't WANT to be in the zone, but I have no choice.
[/ QUOTE ]
Of course you have a choice - you can choose to go without the accolade.
I also have zero interest in pvp. As far as I'm concerned, pvp zones belong to people who want to pvp.
I don't want to pvp, so I don't go in them; regardless of any pve rewards there might be. -
I'm sure he doesn't want me to post this, but I thought I'd better get in before Nom posts one in technical support or something.
Happy cake day mate -

I've never thought - in the middle of the Westin Phipps Arc [Probably the most discussed CoV Spoiler ever ahead...!] "If only I could save these Freaks, maybe help teach them the error of their ways..." And the reason I've never thought that? Because I'm playing a Villain! [end of Spoiler]
[/ QUOTE ]
My brute wanted to kill Phipps at the end of that arc; if I had been offered the chance to turn him over to Longbow, or deliberately fail his missions, I would have done; but I'd preferred to have beaten him to a bloody pulp to be honest.
I'm not sure where that would put me on a shades-of-grey-o-meter! -
I thought the revive was what made them so popular - you're right in that not many of them do revive, but I tend to find the bosses have a better than average chance, meaning you have more bosses in the mission than other mob types.
I like freaks...but I try not to concentrate on one enemy type, so I don't tend to get bored with them...apart from possibly Council (why am I playing through Striga again?) -
RP'ers don't bring anything to the economy, they should be forced to do missions.

Removal permission is an all or nothing affair - and you granted permission.
[/ QUOTE ]
nope, he had access, not permission
[/ QUOTE ]You gave him permission (through the supergroup rank permissions screen) to access base storage. In other words, to "approach, enter, speak with, or use" it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think if someone started speaking with a storage rack, you should be concenred - not for theft - just concerned in general
[/ QUOTE ]It's hardly worse than speaking to imaginary people through the computer.

I know you don't want to admit it, heck neither do I, but GG probably isn't imaginary. No imaginary person could post that much!
