  1. Whoever designed The Hollows must be a masochist. Now that said, i started the game with CoV in November and frankly after a day of CoH i can honestly says Villains are indeed spoiled mission/xp wise.

All the run back and forth is driving me insane And to think i thought Port Oaks with no travel power was harsh? Crazy.

My Scrapper is now lvl 11 and i can't wait for Bloody Bay at least it will be somewhat close to newspaper missions on CoV.
  2. Footstomp is ace in team, no doubt.

    tank mage squad?

Yeah, a kinetic corr is one of the best AT to group with from lvl 20. Speed bost is one of the best buff along with AM.

Although, i agree an all corruptor team is great fun, it can't be as effective as a team with different AT. You want a brute at least, preferably one with a taunt/damage aura.

Have you ever witnessed a couple fire/fire brute backed up with fulcrum shift? Scary! I just love herding i guess.. Just so fun to see 20 mobs dying a in a few secs from Aura

yeah! no fair, heroes have it all good. gaggle, gaggle, spit, flAT!

I'm dead serious here, whenever heroes start to show up in great numbers, the pletora of debuff just cripple any villains that dare trying to get in melee range.

Stalkers are fun yes, but i have yet to see their use in a mass PvP fight such as the one we had on Saturday where there are lots of AoE debuffs/damage.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that CoH has been out longer than CoV and that the former is more oriented toward teamplay. CoV is very solo friendly, hence i believe people tend to favor solo AT and the build that goes with them.
  5. If i'm on send a tell to Icy Mean or Sturmovik, global @momochi.
  6. It was fun, although it was clear Heroes were outnumbred for the most part.

Another thing i noticed, Heroes do have more debuffer wich is a real pain. Not sure how things will work out in Recluse Victory but i expect a total domination by the Heroes at the peek hours.
  7. I can see Mercy Island filled with electro-freaks and thugs in the weeks after I7 goes live

I didn't tryed thugs mm but got me a elec/elec brute to lvl 12 on test server. So far the noise of elec melee got annoying but its a fun set non the less.
  8. I have taunt in my current build, didn't respec'd to the one i posted in this thread.

Frankly, as a */inv brute the taunt aura from invicibilty is enough to keep the bad guys off the squishies. Only use i could find for taunt in my current build is in PvP to keep the pesky scrappers from killing the corruptor/dominator. Even then taunt effect in PvP is not so quite usefull as you can just jump away to let taunt wear off and come back in.

My though on taunt? If you armor set does have an aura with a taunt effect or simply a damage aura (blazing aura for instance), skip taunt. With foot stomp anyway i don't need a taunt.

I see you don't have a villain listed in your signature so i'll go ahead and say, teams in CoV are different from CoH in the way there's actully not much planning ahead like you would with a tank to take the alpha strike and the empath ready to heal him.

Brutes are killing machines, i kid you not, once that fury bar is up all hell break loose!
  9. Yes a granite brute with speed boost IS scary.

I teamed with a fire/fire brute, with fulcrum shift and all the aoe attack going on, herding at its best.
  10. I7 isn't going to make things easier against regen scrapper, if anything it will make things worse with those who have focussed accuracy.
  11. If you are */dark, Ice Storm isn't criticaly needed if you have Tar Patch already. I usually skip Frost Breath but if you have the room its a decent cone attack, though like i said i usually skip it at lvl 4 and take the power in the secondary power set.

Aim, well i don't really find it a must have power unless you do PvP alot. Its a plus yes, but not a must have. I have it on my ice/kin and will most likely respec out of it for something more usefull, perhaps frost breath.

Bitter Freeze Ray, 4 second animation for a single target hold with low damage? No thanks. Although, some people may say with it you can hold a boss with a two shot follow up, Bitter Freeze Ray -> Freeze Ray, i don't find it usefull at all. This may be because my corr is a kin hence i can stack hold faster. The 4 second animation got me killed on more than one occasion.

Blizzard and Tar Patch will work nicely, hence i find that pickin' up ice storm is overkill.
  12. Yes, read that earlier. Elec armor just went from very bad to very good. No self heal, no kd/immo protection was just ugly. Now that it will have a kd/immo protection, and from what i read, not even a toggle but auto power. I can do with that and aid self.

    SS/Invul for pvp

Jab has a very fast cooldown and very low endurance cost. Punch does as much damage as air superiority in the flight pool with a slight chance to knockdown. So, basically jab is a very usefull to get your fury up, the faster and the more you hit, the faster you fury bar will increase.

Depending on your build, i would say get both. If you can't, i would recommend ditching punch to take air sup as soon as possible. Air superiority does as much damage and a 90% chance to knockback your oponent (not too sure about the number but it is very high).

Another way is ditching jab for boxing in the fighting pool to open the way for Tough (smash/lethal resist). Although i don't find Tough that usefull for an Invuln brute.
  14. When i am soloing, my corruptor is a killing machine. I'd dare to say it does kill stuff as fast as my Brute, thanks to hasten and stacked siphon speed.

In a team however, i have to keep everyone speedboosted, tossing transfusion and transference here and there a lot, not counting fulcrumshit, siphon power and the rest. Transfusion needs a lot of attention aswell, so in the end i don't attack that often.

With a couple brutes speedboosted anyway they don't really need you to add in the damage department, i usually there to finish off low health npc with scourge.

    Build Idea

Not so odd for brutes, fury can do this. However the main problem here is fury in pvp wich is very hard to build. For PvE not slotting for damage is not a problem at all, the faster you hit the faster your fury bar will be near the 90'ish and damage out of the roof, with or without damage enhancement.

I'm personally not a fan of hasten, i would prefer to get dark consomption instead. Of course thats just personal taste. If you are interested here is a PvE build i'm working on a DM/FA brute

  16. I hate jump kick, very bad choice for a brute, long animation. Also CJ+Hurdle is great PvP combat travel. Helps a lot when you are slowed and such.
  17. Meh i was sleeping, why the morning?
  18. Indeed, i would say ToF is a must for a PvP DM/* build. Not only for the fear part but the -acc debuff you apply on the target.
  19. This power is awesome, do people realise once you have it on, no mobs can run through it? 'cept for a few bosses here and there with knockback protection. As a bot mm once i'm running force bubble my pets can lay waste on everything and not caring about nasty mobs with melee attacks. Wich is very handy since bots are weak to smashing!
  20. Thats odd, the only times i get stunned while fighting lowbows 40+ is because the darn spec-ops drained all my ends wich then dropped all my toggles and i eventually get stunned shorty after.
  21. Care to list the advantages Fly has in PvP?
  22. I'm not and i'll explain why, well in fact i'll try.

I always played video online games where PvP played a huge part. I started this online addiction with Asheron's Call back in 99-2000 on the server Darktide (the only PvP server and it was free for fall, good times..) then long years spent playing Dark Age of Camelot and like everyone i gave a World of Warcraft a try and was disapointed.

I'm now playing CoV since November, never got into CoH for the reason you may guess there was no PvP. Well so far you know what? I'm having fun in CoV for its PvE side not the PvP. No more uber loot, its very easy to get into, fastpaced, you can play it a few min before going to work and still achieve something (doing a mission and such).

I really want to give CoV a try for what is has to offer on the PvP department but the more and more i play in the PvP zones i feel like this game is going no where with it.

Crowd Control for one. There is one rule in most PvP games i played so far that remained basically the same. Your avatar may be "crowd controlled" by another player, ie rendered useless in battle but as soon as you take damage you will break free or wake up. This is true for most of crowd control powers, expection is the rooted kindof power. You will remain at the same place but you can still attack.

There's nothing more frustrating than not being able to control your character and still take damage. I hated how worked Fear in World of Warcraft and i hate how it works here aswell. Same thing for the Holds, i hate it because someone is baggin themself an easy kill with me held in an uncomfortable position and i can't even curse at him back.

Now of course, some you will say you have inspirations they are there for that purpose. Of course, but i don't feel exiting the zone every 2 min to buy full tray of break free. I believe this game need to be seriously reworked in the PvP department to be fun.

I may be wrong, perhaps there are a lot more players who enjoy the PvP in this game and are happy with the mechanics associated with it.

Perhaps -fly/jump should be resistable with the immob type resistances. Sigh..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now you are onto something here, that would solve a lot of problems!
  24. Little rant i guess.

Fly is slow compared to SJ or SS but you get there eventually. The end cost is too much but once you get SO it can be acceptable.

What the problem you ask, well as far as Fly is reguarded as a PvE travel power, nothing sir. But if you look at it as a PvP travel power it is mediocre.

It hate the fact that in this game, there are builds for PvP and builds for PvE. Why would you have to pick up the FOTM builds to be viable in PvP and compete with everyone? Nothing new though, a lot of online rpgs are like this, there are always better builds that suit a PvP style of gameplay.

Right now, it feels like if anyone sneeze at me by accident i can't fly anymore, whereas with SJ i am golden.

Maybe add more -jump in more attacks to bring SJ on par with Fly in PvP?

What is everyone thoughts on Fly, is it "ok", or do you avoid picking this power for your PvP toons.

I could go on ask why not every melee archetypes have toggles with knockback defenses and are forced to take the leaping pool.
