Quote:Hah, Mid's shows that Mesmerize would be right around 4 minutes.I am gonna go with its extremely easy to solo with this set now especially after the dominator damage changes. Going thru missions without ever getting touched is so nice and it gets easier as you level when your control durations increase. While there are some control resisted critters on redside I hope that with GR I am able to move my mind doms to the other side and hardly have to deal with that crap again. My biggest love of the set is mezmerize, this power stops bosses and avs in their tracks, its excellent for de-toggling Tsoo sorcerers and other critters with toggle debuffs. I get more out of this power than I do confuse. What makes it even better is when you pair it with a set that has power boost. Essentially the critter will never wake up if you use it with domination. I was wondering has anyone ever used the mez accolade, domination and power boost all at the same time? Like what is the max duration a mez can be?

Quote:Man I keep forgetting about Hami's on my builds. Switched the End/Hold to a Dam/Mez. It's a start. Might later switch out the Basilisk's set with something else to get more Damage if need be.You are aware how low your damage will be with a hold strategy yes?
TK isn't really useful when the triangles are down because a single dominate will hold them. It is useful to help overpower their mag when you hit ~50.
You want to know a secret to solo'ing AV's with mind doms that requires no defense/resistance at all? Confuse. that way you can take out AV's that use non s/l attacks, which are numerous.
Not only can you stack way higher mag of confuse easier than holds its duration means you can actually maintain some semblance of an attack chain rather rather than the hold>attack>hold>attack that is necessary with a hold strategy.
You can very likely use confuse>and then 3 attacks>repeat and maintain enough mag.
If you are adamant about using a hold stategy then at least use some dam/mez HO's in dominate so you still do ok dps.
My plan has been to use a chain of Dominate->Subdue->Mind Probe. Cycles in 3.96 s, 636.5 dmg for a DPS of 160.5. (simple calculation, nothing fancy, so I'm not sure about accuracy. The 18% -res from the Ray should help bump it up a bit, and then there's pet damage also.) Combined with Drain Psyche, I was thinking that'd be more than enough to take an AV down quickly.
I saw on another thread that it takes 9(?) applications of the hold to perma hold an AV, and Domination's duration is long enough. Am I right about this?
I had looked at Confuse, but didn't think it was that much easier to insert damage attacks into. Might give it a look. Course, confusing AV will wind up with more Drain Psyche fodder dead, so not as much Endurance available...but maybe that's not a big issue at all. -
Hey all, I'm getting close to 50 on my Mind/Psi dom, and have a build about halfway done that should be able to take down AV's fairly handedly. I'm pretty sure I calculated the build out a while back to be able to hold AV's with Dominate through the PToD.
Question is, for those who have fiddled with it, will TK help build/ensure mag on an AV, and if so, is it more of an added insurance, or does it really help when you start out attacking in that window when the triangles are down?
I'm struggling deciding between Assault and TK...I really like to play around with the AoE repel whenever the opportunity shows itself (rarely, unfortunately).
*here's my planned build, has capped S/L defense (halved Stealth values get it there, I believe). Any comments on the build itself would also be helpful. Perhaps slotting on Poisonous Ray could be improved, I dunno...

I think I'm running with 5 from the purple Hold set (one of them being the damage proc) and the Hecatomb Damage. I'd take Red's though, and switch the +2 mag proc with the purple smashing proc, I love the 33% chance damage procs :P

Quote:On my WS, with 2 endmods in Stygian, I'm getting 34 end per mob. That'll fill it up with 3 mobs. (Actually not completely, since I have +end from IO's/Accolades)and 3 bodies to refill your end completely without having endmod in it.
*shrug*
playstyle differences.
I took the endmods out, and then got 20 per mob. Now I'd need to hit 5 to fill up completely.
I know the health varies between minion/leut/boss, but I don't think the endurance does. Could be mistaken though. -
So I logged in 10 minutes ago and found this ready to go. First time for me to reach a billion.
I had a big bid waiting for a few weeks, and bought/relisted it last night. Sold this morning for a 250 mil profit. It looks cool to see that big a profit on it, but might just take too long to be worthwhile. -
Now that I couldn't do, with no end mod. Going from needing 4-5 bodies to refill endurance to 2-3 is awesome, and imo the base heal amount is already good. What, 2 bodies are enough without any enhancement to refill health bar? It's been a while since I've played my WS.
-
*shrug*
I guess it makes sense, for IO bonuses. I've always used 2 regular End Mod IO's. Heal is already 83% for me without any heal enhancement, I've got some global recharge, and the endurance cost of the power has never bothered me much. Perhaps if I didn't have the global recharge I have, I might add a Recharge IO.
There's good enough set bonuses in other sets that I'd rather use the slots elsewhere and get bonuses though that, enhancing a power that is in more need of it. -
Quote:You'll need about ~87% global recharge, plus 3-slotted Hasten, and a well-slotted Eclipse (which is as little as 4 slots) in order for Eclipse to be perma. That's what I have on mine, and I have a few seconds of leeway before it expires that I can fire it again. For teaming, you don't really *need* to have it perma, since if it goes off in-between spawns, you can just jump into the next spawn and hit it again.Hey all,
Forgive me if this has been asked before (I have looked around the guides (really)... did I miss it?). How much global recharge is needed to have Eclipse "up" for every fight?
There's a bigger question here, though. Folks around here say stuff like "OMG I love my WS! Eclipse is always up and I double mire for leet epicsauce and blow everything up!!" Here's my problem with that: I'm thinking it might require all set-IO's. Or at least, a lot of 'em.
Sure, Warshades are great when you purple them out. But... isn't EVERY archetype? I ask because I'm trying to decide which toon to raise up--a blaster, a scrapper, or my WS. I haven't hit 36 yet (I'm 35, actually), so I haven't felt the glory that is eclipse. However, is this all I'm going to be doing the rest of my warshade life? Eclipse > Mire > Nova? That's... boring.
What about the human form blasts? The human shields? Tank form? Inky Aspect? Unchain Essence/Quasar?
Insight is much appreciated!!
No, your WS life doesn't have to be stuck to Eclipse-Mire-Nova. You can pop into Dwarf to taunt some baddies away from some squishies, pound on some annoying Boss or other pesky mob, do some in the moment controlling with Inky and Gravitic Emanation and Gravity Well if things suddenly get out of control and need it. Every AT is going to have a certain repetitiveness (BU+Aim+AoE's for a blaster, for example), and IMO the WS has some of the most versatility to keep it interesting.
On my purpled shade, teaming generally involves me trying to dive head first into every spawn, chew 'em up in whichever way possible (Nova usually, Quasar when it's up, Well, Dwarf), summon pets whenever possible, watch for bad situations that can be cleaned up easily (ambushes especially, or teammates in trouble). When in Nova, time spent maneuvering will help turn the KB into KD, and is more entertaining for me then just sitting there pushing a button.
I skipped most of the human form blasts on my tri-form, Shadow Blast is decent.
Gravity Well is a real heavy hitter.
No, don't need the shields if you have Eclipse perma (or am using a tri-form for that matter).
Dwarf is very useful, imo, try it and see if you like it, although until the attacks are slotted half-way decent, you might not be impressed.
Inky Aspect is pretty good, especially paired with Gravitic Emanation (a VERY good power). Those two together can stun a boss quickly and allow you to stack holds from Well if you want.
Unchain Essence's damage will be beat by simply firing the two Nova AoE's, and those two will recharge the same as normal AoE's, while Unchain is on a long timer. And Unchain requires targeting a mob. And does KB (Nova's KB is much better since you can fire down on mobs easily). Those are the reasons I don't like it. But several others around here do.
Quasar - standard nuke. But combined with double Miring plus all your endurance back with a Blue + Stygian Circle, it's really nice.
Edit: As for costs, 3 LotG uniques, Basilisk's in Gravity Well, 2 sets of Stupefy in Gravitic and Inky, Doctored Wounds in the Dwarf heal, will total to 47.5% recharge. Those wouldn't be too expensive (so long as you spend a bit of time while leveling to do TF's and Ouro arcs for merits for the LotG's), and leaves you with 40% more to find in other places.
*Doh, cheap 4 pieces of Perfect Zinger in the Dwarf Taunt, and you're only 35% away from it now. -

Quote:I've got the Fitness pool on my Warshade, but only because I love having both Swift and Hurdle. Don't have Stamina.Wow, I never thought I would see the day when someone say's you don't need fitness for stamina.
I use a tri-form and without fitness i would never have end. I'm a lvl 36 and when I use my human form I would last two seconds without end, and I only have two toggles.
So someone please explain to me how this works, a tri-form without end.
Stygian Circle is good enough for me. Stamina won't work in with the forms anyway...and if I need some endurance while in human form, there's usually bodies around to Stygian from. If there's not, then I wasn't using the endurance I had very effectively, was I? -
Not taking Nova form is going to seriously handicap you, from my experience pvp'ing with a purpled shade. The single target blasts do great damage, have good range, and the fast flight are all helpful. It isn't as slow as you think. Dwarf form can also hold out well against melee'rs, though perhaps I simply haven't encountered many l33t pvp builds.
Good luck going all-human though. >.< -
Mid's is showing 34.7% defense to S/L for me, not 45%.

Quote:Most of the time (in fact, almost all of the time), a set that provides a good global bonus as its 5th or 6th set piece bonus will in fact give you good enhancement for the power. This may be a *really* stupid question, so brace yourselves. I never really caught onto the whole "IO" thing fully.
How do you "look for" set bonuses that give certain things? I mean, you can't just type in "+recharge" at the Consignment House and buy everything up. Are there certain sets that are well known to give +recharge? When does it not become expedient to go for a set bonus? (2 piece? 4 piece? 8 piece?) How does one go about doing this without completely ruining what they actually want to slot the POWER for? ("I want to slot this power for 2 acc, 2 dam, 1 rech, but if I sacrifice the 2 damage for these weird hybrid IO's I can get another 1.6% off my global recharge....")
P.S.: Is this going to cost a fortune? I don't have much influence. Around 3 mil currently.
This whole system is really confusing and frustrating. Seems to defeat the whole purpose of enhancing if all you're going for is set bonuses. Can someone explain plox?
For example, I can slot 5 pieces of Crushing Impact into one of the dwarf melee attacks, and get 68.9% Acc, 98.3% Dam, 47.7% End Redux, and 47.7% Rech, which is just fine. On top of that, I'm getting some more HP, global accuracy buff, and 5% more global recharge for all of my powers.
Also, the combination of set bonuses can help enhance your powers at the same time. On my current WS build, I have +76% Accuracy, +88.8% Recharge, +8% Damage all from set bonuses that add up - so that helps where the set themselves are lacking in enhancement.
If you don't have Mid's Hero Designer, check that out and try it. Also as noted above, I'm guessing that if you are new to IO's then you are new to the market and ways of earning the necessary amounts of inf - so check out the market subforum. -
Quote:Times like these are when I use Gravitiv Emanation to perma-stun enemies. With smaller spawns, it's even more manageable than normal. Let's me do stuff like duo with a lowbie blaster and then take on some malta missions without harm. What I need is something with a bit more oomph when it's up against a single target/small spawn, especially mezzers. This is for psuedo-soloing, IE I'm on a team but there aren't any teammates nearby to help out, or they are busy.
*As for ways to buff Dwarf form, nothing slot-wise immediately comes to mind...I need to revamp the slotting on mine actually, it's been the same since before the changes to the dwarf mire. -
Quote:I'm right at perma Eclipse on my WS - I've got a few seconds of grace after it wears off to try to reapply. I have 88.8% global recharge, with three-slotted Hasten. My Eclipse is slotted 2 Res/Rech and 2 Acc/Rech. So there's a rough figure for you.I was already planning on putting as much Recharge as I can, how much is "good enough"? I'd like to avoid spending a fortune on IOs (but thanks to my meager Market skills, I could probably afford to). I know sets with +recharge in them are popular and therefore, expensive.
-
Quote:Gravitic Emanation should be extremely helpful once you take it and slot it. If you have no +recharge bonuses, you can 6-slot it with some triple/double stun IO's and it will be perma - much easier if you already have some +recharge though. It will enable you to solo safely and focus much more on your damage. Gravitic -> Nova to kill a spawn works 90% of the time, even against enemies that can mez you.Primarily, I'm wanting something that will boost my performance when solo because I already feel pretty awesome in a team. In a team I never have endurance issues, never get near death, but when I play solo or with my SG (grand total of three people, myself included) I don't feel quite as awesome. Nova form works well (but is squishy), but in Dwarf form I find myself having endurance problems (each of my attacks is already 1-SO slotted for endurance reduction, any more and I compromise damage output) and the lack of an actual AoE attack (even though the mire is good for that, it isn't yet slotted for damage) means I have to focus on squashing my foes into dust one at a time.
-
Quote:Hm, no perhaps they fixed it then. I just remember people talking about it over in Inventions/Market subforum way back when. Way back when, as in, potentially a couple years ago.Echoing Krogoth. Square, I believe you are getting your information from how pet powers work with procs.
For example, when a damage proc from a knockback set is put in the Battle Drones power, the damage proc can only fire when the drones use an attack that can cause knockback. The power doesn't have to cause the knockback for the proc to fire, but it has to be able to cause knockback. The full auto laser and I think the original burst attack can't cause knockback, so they don't ever get boosted by the proc. Only the "charge up and blast" attack does. -
The FF +Recharge proc will only go off if a mob is actually Knocked Back/Up, if I remember correctly. Nova Emanation will take KB sets, but doesn't actually KB, so that proc will never go off. I'd switch it for the smashing damage proc.
If it were me, I'd take out Dark Detonation and slot out the Nova Bolt. That way, when you go into Nova form and throw out the Nova AoE's, you'll have something nice to follow up with, instead of waiting idly for the AoE's to recharge in 4/5 seconds. If you want to try your hand at PvP for the heck of it, go halfway and slot both the Nova bolt and blast.
Everything else is really nice. I enjoy a bit of Fly in my Nova form just so I can maneuver faster - have an End/Fly in there currently. I doubt you'll be needing the extra Endurance gain from the proc, I don't really have end issues on my purpled shade. -
-
I'd take Gravitic Emanation - if you don't want a perma mag 3 AoE stun then that's up to you. Heck, you could remove a shield or two safely since Eclipse is perma, and replace with Grav Em, and suddenly fighting Malta/Vanguard will be a peace of cake when they're stunned all the time...up against harder bosses of that type, Inky + Grav Em will help you to begin layering Gravity Wells if need be. Really efficient process.
If you have the money, you could throw a purple melee Damage into Gravity Well to up its damage, which is nice.
Oh, and Eclipse could use some Accuracy. I run with 2 Acc/Rech and 2 Rech/Res in mine, and it's nice. I'd probably go 3 Rech/Res and 1 Acc/Rech on yours - that'd get you capped hitting chances on +3's, and a lot closer with +4's. That way, you don't have to spend time Miring before using Eclipse to make sure it hits enough.
Everything else looks fine. Those ideas are coming from a purpled tri-form's perspective, so take them as you will. -
I'd take out 2 Damages from the Nova Bolt and throw them elsewhere. I've never slotted the bolt and don't really miss it ('cept for PvP). Though there's not really anything on your build that is glaringly in need of more slots, so do as you want.
You could also drop an Endmod from Stygian, one is plenty. (once again, at least it has always been enough for me)
Maybe replace a Dmg in the dwarf heal with an End, that thing sucks endurance.
Also you could throw either an Endmod or End into dwarf form, will help a bit if you are stuck wailing on some tough mob, or tanking for a team. Thinking about it, given the choice between Endurance in Nova form or in Dwar form, I'd put it in dwarf. Nova can be more of a 1-2 punch in a lot of situations, while dwarf is usually used for longer periods of time. -
Quote:Any +recharge offered by IO set bonuses is global - it affects all powers you have. And no, you don't need Shadow Cloak active to receive it. Also, while this my not apply to you, if you are in any form you'll still get IO set bonuses. Thanks Gavin.
Also, this might be a dumb question...
Do I have to have the toggle Shadow Cloak active to receive the global recharge effect, or is that in effect regardless?
I guess this also pertains to other IO sets that offer a recharge % increase. Is the recharge on ALL powers or just that single power? -
Quote:...I had something written up, but just realized Vengeance can carry a LotG as well. So there's the stealth pool that can hold 3 but is practically useless. Leadership pool can have 2 and includes Vengeance, which can be nice at times. I'd say go with the stealth pool if you are either 1) close enough to perma Eclipse that the 7.5% is needed, or 2) always forget to fire Vengeance anyway (I fall into this category). No I haven't. A keld has MORE powers just in primary and secondary then they can take by level 50. So for every pool power you get, you have to decide which from the primary/secondary you don't want. And warshades get a lot of really nice powers. Plus if your tri-form you are short on enhancement slots too. So I find I have to look at power choices also in terms of "How many slots will this require?"
As such all but 1 Dwarf power has only the default slot. Many human form powers too only have the default slot as well.Else, go with Leadership.
Looking at your last sentence in your first paragraph - it's exactly the thing I'm thinking about, balancing possible power picks with the slots available. A tri-former simply will not be effective taking all or too many human powers - for the chosen powers (some at least) to be effective, they must be slotted. But pulling slots from the forms is going to lower effectiveness over all. (On my current build, I've actually placed more slots in my form attacks than in my "naturally" chosen powers) I see a lot of bad tri-form builds where the form attacks are given 2-4 slots while awful picks such as human Detonation and all the shields are chosen and slotted well. Meanwhile, Gravitic Emanation (a personal favorite, as anyone who reads many of my posts will know) is completely left out. Now that's a radical example and I'm not at all implying you build -anything- along those lines, but it happens.
There are 6-8 really great powers available and IMO should be taken on all WS's. The rest are either fairly normal compared to other AT's, or sub-par.
Also, the OP seems intent on going with the Leadership pool + Combat Jumping. That's three places for LotG, and includes the usefulness of Vengeance. Nothing I'll argue with over that. -
I wonder if a Kin/Sonic with much more -dmg available would work well. I think each Siphon Power and Fulcrum will stack with eachother, could be wrong though.
