You're leaving a good chunk of damage and taunt behind by not taking the damage aura. The biggest thing you're missing, though, is the Theft of Essence proc in Dark Regen. One of those and a lot of your end worries should go out the door. With Cloak of Fear up, though, that may be problematic. I think you can also free up a couple slots as the EndMods in Superior Conditioning and Physical Perfection aren't all that useful.

Here's Dechs's Claws/DA build. I've run it myself and even while I'm still chasing accolades and incarnates I haven't had any problems with end management or survivability.

Maybe Lord Pyre(?) just thinks she's really sexy wearing it, even after all these years. I really dug that part of her background. Love conquers all, or at least sends the bad guy to his island retreat.

Fifth Mission: Nice part at the beginning of being able to choose a team member. I chose Posi. I think he got killed by mobs, never saw him do much. Didn't care for how BaBs was written here, and after having Manticore lecture me, I was ready to have my character punch him in the face. Go out into the mission, annnnd.
I was playing my Meter Maid On The Edge, so of course I chose Synapse. (Note to devs: Need more flirting with female characters.) He was at half health or so by the time we hit the plaza, and while I went right for Clamor he decided to go play with some Freaks in front of the steps and got his blue and red butt handed back to him. Your Freedom Phalanx at work.

Thing goes straight to the toilet with the reappearance of the Crappies of Crappance. Seriously sick of these retarded looking things. Chicken Clamor manages to kill the feelgood I was having for the entire arc.
Having not plowed through DA as repeatedly as I have the old Sister Psyche TF, it was a fascinating twist. I'm curious as to where this plotline is going.

The one thing that really stands out, is how much more fun the new SSA seems compared to the death march that was the last one.

He was never inhuman to begin with. I don't see it as much as stumbling into development as the foundation was there from the beginning: An exiled freak of society, who picked up a gallon of haterade for heroes and their society for putting him in that place to begin with.

And then Penny comes along. Not only doe she not judge him for being a villainous monstrosity but the silly girl actually befriends him. I'm sure I've seen this story before, all that we were missing was Angela Lansbury as a singing teapot.

Like I said upthread, I ran the SSA as Opposite Reaction, the parking violations version of Blue Steel. Law, order, and reading busted AV's rights. And even she didn't have the heart to take a swing at CK after listening to him and Penny, because for that moment he wasn't a giggling lunatic brain in a jar. Penny had actually coaxed his humanity back, and I didn't have the heart to take him in. I'm Lawful Good, not Lawful Stupid.

And who knows? Maybe Ray Bradbury was right, love really is the answer to everything.

  9. So much for my wallet, Daddy's getting more costume slots.
  10. I tore down the slotting and re-started from scratch. I wouldn't say this is the absolute best cheap build, but its a good start. Personally, I'd skip the fear and gloom auras on brutes and tanks, but I'm not sure what to replace them with as I'm lacking in slots. I did get the end use down to something slightly more manageable. I'm also iffy on my slotting in Dark Regen, I don't have Dechs' Claws/DA build handy so I was fumbling off of memory.

My corr absolutely loves having a tank gather up the mobs so I can cap Fulcrum Shift, or at the least having one he can drop unwanted aggro on.

Tanks are useful, and frankly they're as good as any other AT just the way they are. So I'll just leave this thread with this:

  21. Saturday night and I join up with a group in Bricks doing radios. We're merrily steamrolling our way through +2 Council, right up 'til we get a warehouse mission. No problem, we cruise right along - straight into the Production Floor of Doom. Wall to wall stupor troopen as far as the eye can see.

Now, my first instinct is to pause and check to see if we want to start pulling. Before I can even ask, the EA brute leading the team runs right on into the first group. I stand there for a moment, remind myself that even if I'm a non-IO'd ElA tank I'm still a tank, and charge right in after him.

And that was pretty much the fight: The brute would race off first, me right behind him, the rest of the team right behind us. Once the batch was mostly dead, he 'n I were off again. At some point during the carnage I hear him yelling 'VALHALLA' and I'm wishing I had the Immigrant Song up on Spotify. By the time we were finished, the warehouse was clean and I don't recall any of us having faceplanted. It was one hell of a rush.
  22. Solo'd Mender Ramiel.

... Hey, I'm still relatively new to this!

Actually, there was also the time my Night Widow and my VG-mate's DB/EA stalker solo'd the eye of Leviathan while the rest of the party was faceplanted. I'm still surprised that we somehow managed to pull that off.

The only oddity are the funky moments where I turn on walk, her shield doesn't go away, and she runs like Jamie Summers. I've found switching in and out of a hero stance does put the shield away, but its a little annoying.
