I'm pretty sure the villain doesn't spawn until the player enters the general vicinity of the bank, at which point 'The Bank Is Being Robbed" warning flashes across the screen. If, in fact, my memory serves me correctly, it's not at all harmful to leisurely make one's way to the bank during a Safeguard. Only when the warning message is flashed must one make haste.

Quote:I got this bug over the weekend, also. Exiting the game, and re-starting fixed it for me.Clearly I have some, as I am able to run around and fight.
I've just installed CoH on my PC again and went to start playing, only to find this oddity:
I'll occasionally see a blinking light on the bar, but otherwise I have NO idea what my health or EXP are at. Any ideas on how to fix this? -
Quote:A couple questions:Whats the best method for lvling as i have noticed that soloing just isnt cutting it. :-( Teams are a rarity. And im looking for a SG that has patience to teach a newcomer.
1. What AT are you playing?
2. What server are you on?
My first toon, way back in July/2004 was a grav/emp controller. Absolutely painful to solo, especially back then. If this is the case with you, try rolling a scrapper or blaster. They solo very well.
Regarding server, I play on Champion. Look me up, @Spatch, I'd be happy to run with you.
Cheers... -
True this. On my first red-side "content hog" (thugs/dark MM), I was deliberately in debt pretty much through level 30-35-ish to ensure I didn't miss any contacts or arcs. This pre-dates the ability to turn off xp gain, and also pre-dates the Ouroboros system. Turning off xp isn't as "necessary" as it once was now that Ouroboros is in place, but still a nice option to have for players who want to run content the "natural" way.

Agreed. I love the fact multiple builds were implemented, but I dislike the mechanic to switch builds. I have no problem with the timer aspect, that's fine, but a visit to the trainer is kinda lame. IMO.

Quote:This.Er... it's actually a better deal to go ahead and buy the full version rather than just the item pack. The full version comes with a free month of play, which is worth $15, so the extras end up only costing a net total of $5, as opposed to twice that for the add-on pack. No reason not to get the full version, really.

Quote:No, it wasn't the first day, but it was the 2nd or 3rd day. Pretty close to the release date. In any case, it is definitely obtainable for your Kheldian.Did you get it the first day I15 went live? That was basically the last time I tried it. My Peacebringer is not my primary badger so I was not highly motivated. It was sort of on the "it'll happen when it happens" level for me. I guess it was fixed some time since then so I suppose I'll give it another try.

You're welcome.
Also, to be clear, the Power Attributes are for your toons, not for your pets. My apologies if I made it seem like they were related in my previous posts. The power attributes feature can be used to monitor your individual toons, such as defense, regeneration and recovery rates, for example. Very helpful for heroes and villain alike.
I also use the pets window on all my toons, both red and blue side. Certainly, it is probably most handy for Masterminds, but all pets show up in this window, including the powers/buffs used by those pets. -
Quote:I had a look at the screenshots, and the displays you're seeing are the Pet and Power Attributes windows. Both are in-game features. What were those displays at the bottom of your screen?
It looked like addons or something. Were they?
To activate the Pet window, you need to go into your options, and "Enable" the pet window option. The word "Pet" will then appear in your team window which you can click on to open the separate pet window.
To activate the Power Attributes window, open up your Powers window, and click on Power Attributes. Select the desired attributes you want to monitor. It's a pretty nice feature.
Both windows can be placed anywhere on your screen, according to your preference. I place mine up top. -
Quote:My badger is a peacebringer, and was able to get the badge (see my sig).Tried to do that trick with two Peacebringers the first day I15 went live and it didn't work. I had heard the whole Septad thing was having trouble with Kheldians in general. It hasn't been a real priority for me but since the topic is being discussed has this been fixed yet so that Kheldians can get this badge?

Quote:You have every right to be upset. Bayblast was WAY offside with his/her comment. How dare you put words in my mouth, BayBlast.
I in NO WAY "blamed the homosexuals". I only said that it SOUNDED as if the person described in the OP was hateful because of the attitude and general hatefulness of any kind of talk about someone's sexuality being in any way important.
Did you even READ my post? The point of my post was to show that anyone's sexuality is completely irrelevent and has no bearing on anything. -
Not sure what the plans are, if any, with respect to opening access to EU/NA servers to subscribers across the pond. Personally, I always felt it was strange to segregate the player-base in this way.
Tabula Rasa had one Euro server, and three North American servers, but subscribers were free to roll characters on the server of their choice, Euro or NA. This seems like a better model to me. -
<QR>
I took it once upon a time on my sonic/traps corruptor. I regretted it almost immediately, and respecced shortly thereafter. I found its utility to be ..... wanting. -
-
The devs have indicated they are working on a "fix" to solve the duplicate names issue between Euro and North American players. The EU and NA suffixes are temporary.
Also, I recommend you frequent the main CoH Web Site for regular announcements. I find the news postings very informative, personally. -
Quote:As I understand it, changing a forum handle is one of the few things these fancy new forums do not allow. And, in fairness to the devs, they did warn us prior to the forum changeover, more than once, to really really really make sure you liked your forum handle. Or, to change it if you didn't.i made this name along time ago and i no longer like it so i was wondering if u can change the forum name and how 2 do it if u can.
My assumption, based on the rather forceful language of these "warnings", was that forum name changes is not a function they anticipate these board supporting. Ever. -

Quote:Welcome to the game.I just created a Tanker, I think he is a Mutation/Fire build? He is pretty fun to play, but I would like some suggestions on the build from anyone that has experience as a tanker or working with them.
I opted to not get a Running/Flying/Jumping power and got the taunt power section, hope that wasn't a mistake...
I have been working up my defensive side and now have 3-4 slots in the passive defense and 2-3 slots in my limited invulnerability spot. Also recently got the resist elements power and have 2 slots in that now.
On the fire side, I have Combustion, Fire Swords and 1 other (AOE type ability)
For the taunt, I took the 2nd choice, which I believe is Provoke as it seemed to be better than Challenge.
So my question is this...What should I focus on now? What would make my tank more "Group Friendly" in the near future. I just did my first partnering today with a scrapper and it was a lot of fun. He helped me kill Frostfire, which I could not do on my own.
I am pretty casual in my play, playing a bit here and there, moreso very late at night PST. I play on the first server too, Victory? So if anyone would like to partner up, shoot me a message here and I will seek you out. I should be level 12 next time I log in. Name: Agent Flashover
Thanks for any replies!
I don't have much experience with tankers (after 5 years in this game, I only have one level 50 tanker, and no others)
However, I do recommend you go down to the Tanker forums, as there's a wealth of information there regarding tankers, and is frequented by players extremely knowledgeable of that archetype. -
Quote:This is my assumption, but based on the re-vamped character creation format, my expectation is that power customization will fall in the same category as costume customization. That is, it will be essentially unlimited. Will we be able to edit the colors of a character's powers once they've been created? In other words, is this permanent like power sets and origin, or is it still customizable like costumes?
I don't expect any solid answers since I-16 was only announced recently, just wondering if anyone has heard anything. -
Quote:Heh, okay I admit I was working off memory. But, I wasn't that far off. Some tweaks to your tweaks.Ok...
A couple of tweaks (All Red-side (Villains))
Contact to run Midnighter's Arc Red-side is on Sharkshead near Hospital. The Contact by the University in Cap is for the origin of Power side arc.
Since the Midnighter's Arc Contact is in Shark, you must be about Lvl 20 to run it.
Also Paragonwiki is your friend.
Thank you for the time...
Regarding red-side access to Cimerora, the contact is Ashley McKnight who -IS- located at the university in Cap au Diable, per my original post. She does, in fact, give out the Origin of Power arc. However, she also gives out the Midnighter Arc, but only to villains at minimum level 30 (not level 10 as I originally indicated).
Not sure which Sharkhead contact you might be refering to. But, I can confirm I ran the Ashley McKnight Midnighter arc on three villains recently, all of whom subsequently gained access to the Midnighter's Club and Cimerora.
Edit: Hmmm. This contact also appears to grant access to the Midnighter's Club, as early as level 20. The only difference in the arcs appears to be for reasons of .... role play. I won't say more for "spoiler" reasons. Very interesting to know, though, as I've only ever played the Ashley McKnight arc for Cimerora access. -
Quote:Welcome back!I Just returned to the game after a two year break. I see there are new power sets, new costumes and user generated missions. Anyone have suggestions on things, new missions, new zones, badge hunting, or anything else, that are a must try for a returning player?
I hope your stay is an extended one.
There's been many changes, and I'd recommend you review the official web site to review all the issues that have been published since you last played. That would probably be a good start.
A couple of immediate things pop to my mind:
1. Mission Architect - as you alluded to, this is a significant new feature that has been recently added just this year. If you have a creative streak in you, I suggest you check this out. Currently, the MA is being heavily used (abused, and exploited, IMO) for farming and power-leveling purposes, but there are some very interesting stories a published by players that you can play. It can provide an interesting diversion from the canon game from time to time. Missions from MA (except for Developer Choice missions) do not drop recipes, enhancements, or merits. Instead, they drop Architect Tickets that can be redeemed in the MA building for salvage, recipe rolls, etc.
2. Cimerora - this is a new zone, based in ancient times, that works a little bit differently than any other zone in the game. In order to access Cimerora, you must complete a specific story arc in the game (the contact is in the university in Steel Canyon blue-side, and Cap au Diable red-side). EVERY SINGLE TOON that you want to get into Cimerora must run the arc. It's a pretty zone, and arguably one of the best TFs in the game in there (Imperious Task Force, or ITF or short). Minimum level for Cimerora is 35, but you can run the pre-requisite arc as soon as level 10.
3. Ouroboros - new "time travel" zone that allows you to flash-back and play any canon arc in the game. It also has some stand-alone, unique missions and TFs of its own. You must be minimum level 25 to access this zone. To access the zone, you use the temporary power, the Oroboros Portal, which is granted to your character once you complete a time-travel related mission. The easiest way to get to Oroboros is, once your character hits level 25, ask a player to place down an Oroboros portal and click on it. Once in Oroboros, get the explore badge at the top of the Oroboros building, and bingo, you get the portal power.
Again, welcome back! -
Quote:Speaking from personal experience, a definite YES, it is worth it.Just been chating to a friend who got thier 24 month vet badge last night and decided to check up on what comes with it as it's only a few months off for me now.
Now though i'm looking forward to the vet titals and the fre toon slot (Just in time for GR? I hope so!!) the vet power, Base Teleporter seems a bit redundant to me. Most of my toon now start with being parked at the base portal for the bonus pres for my SG, but once you gain the BP badge and the patrol XP badge you gain the Rapid Response Member Badge/Trouble Maker accolade and along with it charges for day job base teleporter, which works exactly like the vet reward one, but with half the recharge time.
So, is it worth it? Yes, it means you have to earn charges for it, but that takes almost no effort. should it be replaced, and if so, with what?
I will admit, I don't use it as much as I used to, particularly since the Mission Porter came along earlier this year. But, it still gets relatively active use from me, and the power icon gets a prominent spot in the power tray on all of my toons. It comes in especially handy when you need to move between "secondary" zones. For example, on a recent TF, we wrapped up a mission deep in Crey's Folly, and the next mission was in Dark Astoria. I used the base porter to get to my base, and then used one of my porters in the base to zip over to DA. -
Well, as things stand now, you can only select four pools, plus an epic/patron pool. I'm all for more choice, but suspect the noted suggestion might result in extremely borked builds (i.e. too many powers, too few slots).
<shrugs>
Personally, I'd like to see some new pool powers, or additions to the existing pools, much like the recent addition of the 5th power selection in epic/patron pools. As it stands, the existing pool powers (epics/patrons excluded) haven't seen any material changes since this game went live in 2004. -
I farm this badge in an Oro arc, using CoT Guides as my sadists of choice. I set the arc parameters to exclude enhancements and temp powers (IIRC). I enter ths mish, aggro a CoT Guide, and then hit Rest.
It took me about a month of strictly overnight farming to get the third-to-last damage badge this way. Since day job badges came along, I haven't done any damage farming, but I did estimate the last two damage badges would take approximately 4 months each of strictly overnight farming. Shorter if you did it during the day as well. I plan to re-start my damage farming later this year once I acquire all the day jobs. -
Quote:Heh.I thought the same, but it turned out to be the first one I bought, after I realised that I needed a tuxedo tail coat for Energiser, my bunny girl blaster.
What can I say... after spending enough time with the costume creator decisions like that seem entirely rational...
I would agree with the OP's sentiments. IMO, the wedding pack is the least useful of the expansion packs. That said, I did buy it, although I did wait several months after its release before I shelled out 10 bucks for it.
All the other expansion packs (GvE goodies pack, Boosters 1, 2 & 3, AE, Mac Pack), however, I have purchased immediately upon their release.
