Quickest way to 50
The quickest way to 50 is to make a left turn at Albuquerque, or was it a right turn?
Why are you so desperate? Sure you'll unlock an Epic, but you are no more likely to play them past 39 than any other character. Plus, what feeling of accomplishment will you have when someone else is doing it for you?
The best way is to find someone you like to play, and keep playing them. Things speed up in the 40's and once you get there, you will make 50 before you know it.
Alright, thanks, just not too sure on what i enjoy playing atm.
And do you think farming is truly the fastest leveling, or story arcs, and playing properly?
What he said.
If you've played any AT up to 39 then you know how this game works.
There's really very little to do at 50 other than min/max and TF's.
I developed severe alt-itis shortly after I started playing. Needless to say it was a full 3 years before my 1st creation hit 50!!
I was in no rush to 'finish' the game.
If all your wanting is a 50 so you can try Kheldians then I suggest you hold off. If you can't get into any of the other AT's enough to get past 39 then Khelds are not going to interest you more than likely.
To answer your question. Nowadays the obvious and quickest way to 50 would be to take the route so many new players are getting trapped into.
Go AE and don't come out til your 50...
It'll be mind-numbingly boring but if its the goal your after...
Just don't expect it to improve your enjoyment of the game. It might, enjoyment is subjective, but I highly doubt it.

See, if you don't even know what you like, then what would you do with the 50 you get?
I think everyone should get at least one 50 the old fashioned way before they start worrying about speed. Sometimes it's about the ride, not getting to the destination as quick as you can.
I have a different suggestion.
Instead of the goal of "50!", how about the goal of "fun!"
Have fun. Levels happen.
If you aren't having fun at 39, I'm not sure what a 50 will get you.
Plenty of folks switch between characters, and make new ones constantly. For them, it's part of their fun.
If by 39, your inclination is to make another hero or villain, then go for it. Your subscription, your decision on what fun is.
www.paragonwiki.com is a great source of information for this game.

Fastest way to 50?
Quit posting in the forums asking about the fastest way to 50
(What? Someone had to say it...)
Seven years of heroism. Seven years of friendships. Seven years of saving the world. Seven years of virtuous selflessness.
You will return, for you are the mighty City of Paragon, the City of Heroes.
Really, getting to 50 is way too overrated. Epic archetypes are also overrated. Just have fun and enjoy the game.
What's the rush to 50? Unless you just really want to try out an Epic Archetype or something, but other than that their shouldn't be any rush.
Oh, and their are a lot of options to become 50 in a hurry, but i'll let the others deal with that.
Does the "join date" on your forum account match the "join date" on your game account?
In other words, have you actually been playing less than a month?
The "Gotta get to 50" bug is something I vaguely remember. When it hit my wife and I, we hooked up with Ego's Shadow, and played two hours a night, on big 8-person teams set on invincible, for a month. We beat every Praetorian there was, two or three times over. It got to the point that we'd start the team and people were banging on the door to get in, even though our slogan was "Everybody fights. Everybody dies."
Of course that was 2004 and it took 500 hours to hit level fifty. 300 if you were crazy fast.
So yeah, if you get determined and build a core of regular players, you will get to 50 before you know it. You just need to put people who play well, and fast, on your friends list and start teams every night.
You could get PL'd to 50, that's the other choice, but that's really really lame.
Everybody fights. Everybody dies. You with us?

So you think you're a hero, huh.

If you are nice about it, you should be able to find someone who will help.
Hi,
I'm desperate for a level 50!!!!!!! I can never bring myself to level a char past 39!!! Need help on the fastest build / route! If anyone would PL me would be great! I know its not the way to play the game, but I want a 50! thanks if you can help, Aiz Union(UK) blueside please |
1. Log into the game.
2. Play the game.
3. Success!
Fastest way to 50 is to get into a raid based SG/VG and talk them into doing the "Cathedral of Pain Trial." Deliver the goods, and keep clicking the end contact. There is a glitch (exploit if you will) that gives you mish complete xp, while not finishing the mish. You can just click your way to lvl 50. Only takes a few hours, and time travel, but if your over level 25, you can go to Ouroboros to travel in time.
The other cool thing is by doing "Cathedral of Pain Trial" you help your SG get some really nift base items (like debt protection, or +dmg).
Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.

How long have you been away? Why would you lie to the guy like that?
That trial has been shut down ever since September of 2006.
Also, to the original post mentioned above, just play to have fun. Take it slow and enjoy the game, because the faster you get there the faster you'll get bored. Do some cool stuff, explore zones, take in the scenes, hang with your buds, do stuff your SG, make a mish or two, and generally just play for the enjoyment of the game itself.
I know... and its funny, i got -fame for the post. Notice the time travel part. Oh well, it balances the +fame i got from my AE foodfight thread.
I find it silly getting -fame here for giving at 100% truthful, even if misleading, just cause someone wanted to know the fastest way to 50.
BTW Cathedral is the fastest way, even though it is disabled.
Edit: looks like more people want to defame me for being "incorrect"
Get it right, I am correct and misleading. At least look it up before you are gonna give a reason.
Don't cheat if you like the game. Enjoy the ride.
Find the character that you like the best, and start a team. Find some other people to play with that are on your same schedule that you can invite to your team every time you play. Just keep meeting up with them and playing on the same character at the same time. Don't play other characters, just play that character until you hit 50.
The AV arcs in Peregrine Island give a lot of xp if you can get a big team going running on inv.
You can generate a bubble at 49 by running a with only a couple of people at level 49 by doing just police missions on inv.
I can't say that I stick by this completely, but that's pretty much how I ended up getting to 50 with 3 50's and current almost 50 (aka 49).
At the same time, I'm one of those alt-oholics that loves making characters and checking out the different AT's and sets on both sides. It means that I am not super concerned about hitting 50. I'm more concerned with having fun and enjoying the power-sets that I'm playing at the time.
So if you are driving yourself to 50 and you get bored, I do suggest playing another character for a day and then going back to your project 50-to-be.
Like other have said, this is game to be enjoyed. No need to push yourself.

Thanks guys,
Youve made me realise its not all about getting a 50, its all about fun 100%
So what if I want to try an epic AT, if there as overrated as you all say, forget it.

I just read your CoP suggestion and what I saw was you advising the OP to take advantage of exploits. So I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that was why you got neg rep.

Too bad reps are anonymous. I'd like to give whoever nailed you a +1.

That said, you're stopping at 39 and missing some fun or interesting content. Sometimes aggravating, yes, but others (especially villainside) quite amusing, like the Television and Vernon von Grunn.
Besides, once you get into 40s, there is a whole new bucket of stuff to do!
I don't know what your archtype is, but grouping with other people at the AE and running missions designated as 'Farm' type missions there should level you up fairly quickly.
I totally understand the drive to level 50, the lower levels are an unnecessary and frustrating grind. You realise that so many powersets and archetypes only 'Come Into THeir Own' at a particular level, or it takes 25 levels before you get the 'Defining Power' of the set or some crap like that.
Totally unnecessary.
If you want to hit a level 50 character, or 100 level 50 characters you go right ahead. THere will always be missions to run and things to do now that the AE is available. You can even use the Flashback Feature and do old story arcs etc. so you won't miss out on a thing.
And if you have more than one level 50 you are more flexible for teaming, and in your Super Group you can jump on whichever character type a particular team in needs.
This whole 'Journey to level 50' ...play for 800 hours and get to 50 is not for everyone.
We must remember that this is just ONE way to design and play this game. A game like Guildwars runs you through level 1 to 20 in a few hours and then you have a max level character with all your powers and the game continues from there.
I think what players may be realising is that the majority of people really don't like that 'Journey' to level 50, simply because in most MMORPGs after you do it once it isn't fun.
By playing in the AE those players can see every single Map Type and Monster Type that the game has to offer. What are they supposedly missing out on really? Not a thing, in my view.

No one said 800 hours, but for a first character to 50, I think somewhere greater than 80 hours might not be too bad of an idea.
Not debating you on the journey, because it's an opinion, but you say it yourself once you have done it, the OP clearly states he hasn't done it.
As for seeing every single map type and monster type, that is just wrong. There are many many maps you cannot see in AE at all, heck start with the first one. Ever see a AE mission in Breakout? I sure havent? Monster types? Look at the exploit list for a bunch you cannot see.
Maybe he isn't interested in all that, and hey, that's cool, its his sub, but if he is going to say he is desperate for a 50 in a public forum then people have the right to ask why.

And those same players that skip the content in their mad dash to level 50 then get to sit around with very little to do because there is no end game here. (TaskForces, Hami raids, Rikti ship raids, PvP, AE missions, Newspaper / Radio missions, and a maybe half a dozen contacts with repeatable missions)
Soon they get bored then whine and complain about having nothing to do, and get told the same thing by everyone. Roll up another character.
They either adapt and make new characters, or they sit around running what level 50 content there is, or they leave never to be missed by anyone.
