My fixes would be:
Leave Triage Beacon as +Regen, but give it the flying jets treatment ala "Gun Turret" change to "Gun Drone"
Leave Tree of Life immobile, but change it to a 3 or 4 second pulse of actual +Hit Points Healing at a level of about 1/3 the strength of unslotted empathy healing aura (or possibly about 1/2 the strength but unenhanceable, not sure which would be better balanced).
I'd also like to see ALL mobile pets get a general movement speed buff of about +33%. -
Quote:As far as we know, existing players can create Heroes, Villains and Praetorians as new characters, but people who have ONLY purchased Going Rogue (no other editions of the game), there is a note somewhere that they will have to start new characters in Praetoria. Since you clearly already have an account, you will not be forced to start new characters there if you don't want to.
Where did you see that? I certainly haven't (not that I couldn't of missed it of course).
Barring a direct dev comment, I'd seriously doubt that new players using the GR retail box to create a new account are going to be limited to starting in Praetoria only. GR accounts are full accounts just like all the rest - they'd almost have to be as Praetoria only goes to level 20.
Now, if you're an existing player and you DON'T buy GR then you will be locked out of Praetoria, Side-Switching, and the coming Incarnate stuff; but that's the only limitation factor I'm aware of. -
And to add to the above, if you use the rotating bind files method, you have to press the bound key again for each power.
press - vengence / load fallout bind
press - fallout / load resurrect bind
press - resurrect / load vengence bind
You can't (without 3rd party intervention) make multiple click powers work off of one button press.
You also can't turn on multiple toggles with one button press, although you can turn off as many as you want with a single press.
This is the Devs method of trying to prevent Bot characters. -
Are you currently targetting a dead teammate before you press the "r" button?
Resurrect won't work, or fire off, unless you are either 1) already targetting a dead teammate or 2) have nothing targetted and have a dead teammate in visible range AND attempt to activate the power twice.
EDIT: and I'm not really 100% sure about #2 in regards to resurrect, but other powers "auto-target" that way, so I assume resurrect does too.
I've never bothered to bind Resurrect itself to a key shortcut (it just doesn't get used enough to warrant it), but the same thing happens with the various other teammate-only powers like speed boost, clear mind, etc. -
I can't get behind making a new powerset.
It just wouldn't be different enough from the existing Claws set to justify itself.
Some new weapon/costume parts; big clawed "gloves", claw finger extensions, 5 thin metallic blades out of the hands/fingers themselves, "energy" type claws (rather than the vanguard single blades), etc -- Yes please.
But it should definately just be costume/weapon customization bits. -
Sounds like a video card problem. Either an overheating issue or a dying card.
Take off the side of the case, make sure all the fans (especially the fan on the video card) are spinning, clean out any dust bunnies, make sure all your cards and cables are seated well, etc.
Then try monitoring your system temps, and maybe post the dialog/hijackthis info (see the stickies up above on how).
Until you narrow it down a bit, it's hard to say what the actual issue is.
The good news is that Asus has pretty good customer service for thier RoG line of stuff (one of the reasons it costs a bit more). -
(disclaimer: I'm not a regular Futurama viewer, I just tend to watch it when flipping channels and nothing else is on)
I saw an episode last night where they take Nibbler to the vet. In the waiting room is a robot with a pet Rust Monster straight out of the old AD&D Monster Manual... -
The NCSoft store is the only (legitimate) place to get the super boosters from.
If you are outside the U.S. that might be your problem. The store has issues with non-US credit cards, from what I understand (I don't really understand the specifics, that's just what I've heard).
Regardless, if you're having problems getting a credit card purchase through, you should be able to use one of the other payment methods.
I know you can use a PayPal payment for the subscription charge, and I *think* you can also use PayPal for other (ie booster pack) purchases.
I know you can use one of the pre-paid Visa gift cards to purchase booster packs (I did it last night). If you aren't in the U.S. I can't comment on how hard or easy those are to get, but in the U.S. you can pick one up from pretty much any grocery or convience store. -
Sevenshade,
Also, if you haven't yet pre-purchased Going Rogue from the NCSoft store, I would hold off.
For the $30 you'd spend on the pre-purchase:
- you'll get immediate access to the GR stuff on the day it goes live
- you get early access to Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning now before GR goes live
- you DO NOT get the bonus goodies (those will cost an additional $7 when GR goes live)
- you DO NOT get a free month of subscription time
A couple of months ago that was an OK deal for those who wanted early access to DP and DS, but seeing as the Going Rogue go-live date is only a couple of weeks away....
If you wait until GR goes live and buy the Complete Edition from the NCSoft store (or go put in a pre-order for the Complete Edition at GameStop), you'll pay $40 but:
- you get the bonus goodies
- you get a free month of subscription time (reducing your real cost to ~$25)
- the only 'downside' is that you might be a day behind on being able to play GR content
- and that you'll have to wait another couple of weeks to play with DP or DS powersets
As an extra bonus, if you get the pre-order of the Complete Edition from GameStop, you get the "special GameStop bonus goodies" that only come from there. (some special, low-level IO's, if I remember correctly)
It's your choice of course, if you are really desperate for Dual Pistols/Demon Summoning...
EDIT: Oh and to clarify, your current game client will be getting updated with all the GR stuff along with everyone elses (it's all one game client), all you'll really be doing in any case is buying the access code to apply to your account to unlock the GR stuff. There's no 'extra' installations. -
Well, you need 4 to start the TF, but that's usually no big deal.
The question comes down to whether or not your build can solo a Dark/Psychic Arch-Villain while exemped down to level 40 (so no level 47/49 powers), while also handling the ambushes he spawns at regular intervals.
I don't have any builds that can do it, but I don't specifically build to beat AVs either....
It's relatively easy to make a build that can either 1) defeat an AV or 2) survive an AV, but builds that can do both at the same time while solo are a bit harder.
A Fire/Dark Corruptor would have issues with #2 there (imo) but if your build can do it, then sure, go for it
PS: not sure what server your on, but I've got Villains on Pinnacle, Guardian, and Protector that I'd be happy to log on, start SF, log out and forget about for a few days to hold the SF open for you if needed. -
Another clarification for the OP.
Although most folks here have been talking about the ED diminishing returns limitations on slotting, for travel powers there's another limitation you need to consider.
The hard cap for travel speed. I know a couple of folks touched on it, but nobody went into details.
Super Speed - maximum speed is capped at 92.5 mph at level 50
Fly - maximum speed is capped at 58.6 mph at level 50
Super Jump - maximum speed is capped at 78 mph at level 50
For SS the cap is surpassed w. 2 SO level (66.6%) enhancement + Swift
For Fly the cap is surpassed w. 2 SO level (66.6%) enhancement + Swift
For Jump the speed cap is surpassed with 2 SO level (66.6%) enhancement + Hurdle
(you will continue to gain some height improvement if you add a third enhancement into jump - you won't go any faster forward though)
So, for movement powers, it's pretty worthless to slot more than 2 speed enhancers in.
Adding a third for an endurance reducer is optional [but not really needed unless you always forget to turn your movement power off while fighting]
Or if you are going for bonuses with Set IO's.
[EDIT: I'm deliberately not getting into Teleport. That follows it's own rules.] -
Hmm....
Well if someone knows where I could get a good sized model of the Arachnos Flyer
(say 12" long by 8" high or so) [cheaply!], I could mod it up to hold a nano system
or maybe a micro-atx based board.
Add some lights and a sound effect generator for the pew-pewand it could be interesting.

Or you could just continue to beat up on the stupid Quantums.
They aren't any real threat to you (heck, they aren't that much of a threat to Kheldians anymore), and solo you don't even have any issues taking out a cyst if one should show up.
Do your civic duty to our alien friends and stomp face on those Quants/Voids.
[or just log out and go take a quick secret identity shower] -
Well one of the problems is that if it were done "realistically", your mission briefing would be:
Contact: We've received information that the Malta Group may be targetting a corporate whistle-blower over at the SomeCompany offices, you'd better get over there and check it out.
(moments later): Mission Failed
Contact: Hmm, cwb seems to have accidently added a large quantity of rat poison instead of coffee creamer to his daily caffeine fix....Sorry about that.
--
Contact: Sorry hero, I did have some feelers out about Senator XYZ and his connection to the Council, but he seems to have vanished and no one has any idea where he could be. Why don't you come back later.
--
Contact: (said in a strangely stilted monotone) No hero, I do not think that you should waste any more time investigating this so-called Circle of Thorns . . .
--
etc...

Tech forum is still where it's always been.
For a possible solution to your problem though, try this:
1) Start a command window: Start/Run -> enter "cmd"
2) In the command window enter: "ipconfig /flushdns" and press enter
3) Repeat step 2 one or two more times
4) Also try entering "ipconfig /registerdns" after flushing, but this command will probably NOT work on Windows 7, depending on how you are setup. (you'll get a security warning).
5) Close the command window either with the "X button" or by entering "exit"
6) Restart the updater.
A lot of times, if you get a hard crash, the packet routing services get confused and things go a little wonky. Flushing your DNS forces the computer to re-request it's internet location maps and information. The above usually solves the hung updater for me. -
Quote:She's in Maria Jenkin's "A Hero's Hero" arc. I'm not sure if Maria has a stand alone mission with Diabolique in it (she does stand alones for most of the Praetorians in addition to the arc, but not all of them)Which flash back missions is she in I can try and run my fire/sd at her I will take a bunch of reds for when I get mad and have to save my keyboard.
I know the stupid wolf hunter I soloed him with no inspiration and it took for ever because he kept healing himself that was an older build with less dps then I have now -
I just finished getting the badge for defeating all of the Praetorians last night on my Mind Control/Radiation controller.
I solo'd all of the Praetorians (as Elite Bosses obviously) except for:
ShadowHunter - can't do enough dmg to drop him before his Earth's Embrace recharges
Siege - robot . . . mind control doesn't do diddly damage vs robots
Nightstar - ditto
Tyrant - yeah, no chance of solo'ing him but he went down fast as an AV vs. a full team
All the other Praetorians, I did manage to solo. Got to admit that Diabolique is probably the most annoying one to fight though, what with her "hey I'm losing...zoom zoom" mentality.
[did everybody, then realize I had missed Nightstar during Maria's Arc and had to re-do ShadowHunter, Siege, Chimera, and Dominatrix before Maria would give me Nightstar's individual mission...that was annoying] -
Try having the popmenu do the bindloadfile command twice.
I've had some strange behavior from bind files in the past and that has usually resolved them.
I haven't tried using bind files with the pop menu (actually haven't used the pop menu at all) so it may or may not help, but it's a quick thing to try.
Also, you can use bindloadfile_silent to prevent it from coming up in the chat window (just in case you didn't know). -
It's really a sometimes thing. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. And when I'm the tank, it's sometimes OK for others to do and sometimes not.
A lot really depends on your Tank's aggro style. With a lot of my tanks, you don't want to do that.
I'm a very "active" Tank and I'm constantly switching targets, rarely staying on the same target for more than one attack at a time.
Aggro Aura running - target mob - attack for gauntlet - change target - attack for gauntlet - change target - Taunt - change target - PBAoE attack - change target - etc -
Update: I just tested it, and silencing "peaceeyes1" will get rid of the Whine after all the power attacks on PeaceBringers, while leaving the rest of the attack sound intact.
Even Glinting Eye still has it's attack sound, just the high pitched whine is gone.
The powers do sound a bit different without the whine playing in the background, but it's not bad....more "energy" sounding. -
Quote:I'll probably try it later tonight, as I've already got all the silencing stuff configured and can just pop in the silencer and try it, but I think just using the "Powers -- peaceeyes1" one will get rid of the whine without affecting anything else (except maybe the laser eyes, not sure if that's the only sound for the laser eyes or if there's a peaceeyes2 or something as well).Thats the problem. I dont mind the actual power sfx for PBs. The shapeshift boom, the attack 'hits', etc.
Its the aftereffect, the high pitched 'whiiiiiiiiine' that you hear when you select PBs on the char creation screen. It pops up after EVERY attack, every toggle, even flying. It stacks, too. And gets REALLY annoying... -
TechBot, I don't play PB's (just can't get into them), but you could try these:
This is from the "how to silence" thread.
Photon seeker loop -- Powers -- glow6_loop; glow9b_loop; elecZaps_loop
Peacebringer fly/hover -- Powers -- Flight2_loop
Peacebringer high-pitched whine: flight & blasts -- Powers -- peaceeyes1
Peacebringer shapeshift "boom" -- Powers -- nova4
Peacebringer shield toggles -- Powers -- glow6_loop; glow9b_loop
Of course some of these may be/probably are used for other sound effects as well... -
Unfortunately there are still quite a few powers that they haven't yet (or decided not to, I don't know which it is) made the sound fade out.
Choking Cloud, Mud Pots, Arctic Air, and some others too . . .
The CC looping sounds are REALLY annoying. So much so that I had to do the "silence" mod on them.
I've got CC, Mud Pots, the new honking car horns, and a few other in-game annoying sounds silenced.
There's a sticky thread around that goes into detail on how to do it without breaking EULA.
It would be nice if the devs got around to fixing this (assuming that it's on the list and they just haven't gotten to it, as opposed to being deliberately left on purpose).
And techbot, I think that whine after all the peacebringer attacks can be silenced seperately from the actual attack sounds. I'll have to check my list of sounds when I get home... -
I think most everyone has some kind of super-speedster type character.
Mine is a MA/SR scrapper (and also the very first character I ever made in game), with lots of run-speed bonuses. He currently runs at approximately 50 mph without super speed being activated.
The trouble with a "real" super speed powerset is that it really can't be done in game correctly.
The animations would be really difficult to "get right" (you'd need the blurring, zipping back and forth over the combat area to show super speed melee, etc)
Everyone wants the "run on water" and "run up the sides of buildings" effect on a super speeder. Trouble is, in game, the maximum speed cap for running is ~92 mph. At 92 mph, there ain't nobody running across the water, much less defying gravity and running up the side of a wall...at least not by pure speed alone.
Oh, and Flurry is a pretty bad attack. It's not the total gimp-factor that it's usually described as, but it's not very good either. That's mainly due to the animation time (imo). If it's animation could be halved or it's damage brought up to respectable levels for the animation time...
Make it a single target version of Shadow Maul/Sands of Mu. Slightly less damage and get rid of the melee level cone, or cut every other frame of animation (or whatever) and get it's time down to 1.7 seconds or less, and it would be an acceptable (if still a little sub-par compared to Air Superiority) attack. -
The -fullscreen 1 / -fullscreen 0 command can be used to swap between windowed mode and full-screen mode (you said you already knew this one).
You can also use the -screen x y command to specify a resolution level (so -screen 1042 768 would be in 1024x768 resolution)
So, you should be able make 2 shortcuts to start in whatever mode/resolution you want
-fullscreen 0 -screen x y
-fullscreen 1 -screen x y
I haven't used these commands in a long time, but I think they still work.
