Quote:I've skipped the T9 on 3 out of my 4 main Brutes. I know this is a tanker thread, but I think it still applies. I'd much rather have my in-set tools + soft cap to S/L and not have the T9. And in some cases, the T9 is just not that useful. One with the Shield comes to mind. Also, Taunt = more fury for me. Mmmmm fury. You can slot a more effective power equally well or almost as well with IOs Even if you could not:
Good Power> IO Benefits
No amount of IO benefits can trump a good power which is why the Tanks/scrappers/Brutes who skip God Mode powers cause they think IO benefits can match them are just silly..... and a Tanker who takes Taunt but not his God Mode power is just straight up sad.
Yesterday I even saw a Tanker with Soul Mastery who had Taunt but skipped Darkest Night....wow.....just wow.....sigh....... guess he justs likes to play low lvls cause a high lvls DN would be much better than Taunt...seriously. -
Quote:And here I was about to send you a gift basket with Klondike bars... oh wellWow. Big "SON I AM DISAPPOINT" to the community members who think this thread is for trying to pick up a date. If you don't have anything productive to add, don't say anything at all.
That's all the participation in this thread that I'm going to have. -
What side do you pick more than others? Blue
What play style do you prefer? Melee. Broot. Zoom. Zoooooooom!
What power set(s) do you favor? Titan Weapons as of late. I've got a 50 TW/Elec and a 50 TW/Fire. Both are t3 Incarnates.
What zones do you like the most? The Hive and the Abyss (for obvious reasons)
Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''? I play as a zombie destroying and/or cooking male Werewolf.
Views on Role Playing? Not a fan.
Servers? Virtue. -
Quote:It was quite a fun time! And we did it... well almost...
50% run --> done
75% push -- > done
100% push attempt --> Massive Lag
2nd attempt, no pets at rock, but casted once at hami, we did better, but we lacked the DPS... the greens do heal Hami pretty fast, so you need a lot of DPS.
We should try again but with a full league.
in the end we cleared the double bloom we created, and then pushed at the 50% bloom. Hami died a 3rd time.
Sad night to be a Jello!
FoxyFox got the first 1b inf
Xi got the 2nd and Rain of Radiation (yes yes, how funny, KiTTy herself) got the 3rd.
Thx everyone for joining the event!
Thanks for hosting! -
"Fixes" like this really make me start to think.
I mean, it could be a preemptive coding issue to prepare for something else down the line that they're not telling us.
I doubt it, but it's possible.
And overall, I really wonder how much of the population actually made use of this "exploit." -
Quote:Gotta admit, this made me LOLWhich, ironically and disturbingly, was when Lord Recluse walked out of the bathroom, asking Grandma why she didn't wake him up if they had company.

Quote:I can't say this surprises me.
Martin Dotson: When will CoH offer Double XP weekends again??? and when will we be able to Craft/Buy/Slot IO enhancements for free?
City of Heroes: Sorry, access to the Invention system is either free for VIPs, purchasable as a license for Premium players, or unlocked as a Paragon Rewards bonus. It will not be available for free. Nothing to say about double XP weekends at this time, sorry!
City of Heroes: Addendum to that, you can purchase an XP boost in the Paragon Market™, if you're inclined! -

Quote:So what you're saying is, we're getting a Mayonnaise Blast powerset? Or is it Mustard Blast? So as I said last week, I've been pretty heads down on documentation and prep for the next 12 months. We've got some exciting news to talk about in the coming weeks, including information about the next Freedom Player Summit, and tomorrow's Ustream Coffee Talk is no exception: We'll be debuting two, count em two, upcoming costume sets. David "Noble Savage" Nakayama will be stopping by to discuss these new sets and I'll try not to tangent too much. People say I tangent to much, but it's like that one time I went to the grocery store to get some bread. By the way, I had a great sandwich for lunch today. Oh look, there's a rock.
If you've never tuned into our Coffee Talks, you can check out our Ustream channel and "Join the Crowd"! If you want to participate in the chat, be sure to sign up for a Ustream account! We broadcast every Wed from 10:30 AM Pacific until 11:30 AM (ish).
See you there! -
On my TW/Elec, I skipped Defensive Sweep.
I've messed around with a few builds in mids too for a TW/Fire and TW/WP brutes and I've skipped Defensive Sweep on those too.
The damage of the attack is lackluster, and you can compensate for the defense you'd lose from not taking fairly easily.
All 3 builds that I've done are soft capped to S/L w/o using Defensive Sweep (and not use a Glad Armor +3% either). -
Quote:I don't really run lower level content so I can't speak thatCool... Would a TW/Elec be able to take on a lot of aggro? Also my TW/ELEC is lvl 18 atm should I buy her a cheap IO set or just the regular IOs?
But at level 50 with IO sets and Incarnate stuff, my TW/Elec is a beast! -
Quote:LOL I've never heard that as the reason before.I once got yelled at for taking the glowie on an stf on my ill\rad rather than letting the tank get it.
The reason was "what if you dc, we can't finish" I appologized stating that I wasn't aware that controllers dc more than tanks.
Generally it's better for a melee toon to take the temp power because they are less likely to get 1-shotted at the encounter with Aeon.
Though nowadays, it really doesn't matter. -
Quote:Assuming the griefer wasn't the team leader, he/she could've been kicked from the TF and someone else could've taken Sister Solaris to the altar.I wouldn't mind details via PM, if they're being sent out. I'm curious how this could be accomplished. Something to do with Sister Solaris, maybe? That seems like the only situation in the ITF where just killing people isn't the only objective.
The only TFs that come to mind that are impossible to complete if someone intentionally griefs is the STF and the LRSF. If the person with the temp power DCs/leaves, you can't defeat Aeon or Ms. Liberty without them.
I'm kinda curious what the issue was if it was an ITF also -
Reactive for the win
75% chance for fire dmg, 25% for -res
Gotta love it!
(You get more mileage out of the fire damage than the -res) -
Quote:Given the 2 choices, I would probably go TW/Elec. (I'm biased because I have one)So I'm taking a break from playing my doms to play a brute again but I'm torn between a TW/ELEC and a TW/WP. I want to know which one has the edge I guess in sturdiness and end management and which one has a better synergy.
He is .5% shy of being soft capped defense to S/L and has decent res too.
Having an endurance recovery tool is also very helpful.
WP + Epic Powers can provide a decent amount of recovery, but TW is really an end hog. -
Quote:Hrm.I think otherwise, taunt is a requirement to be most flexible.
Do anything with any team is my motto, no exceptions, so when I give you an Icetank and 7 Blasters I expect you to tank the inner circle and live.
If we're factoring Incarnate powers into the equation...
Ice Tank soft capped with Rebirth...
Blasters with a mix of Rebirth, Ageless and Barrier...
Yea, I can see taking on Recluse's Inner Circle and Recluse himself with little problem.
Especially if you have Lore pets as well -
Quote:(I'm going to assume you're in the US btw)Perhaps this has been answered but I was unable to find it in a search. Has anyone ever done any data mining into how much data is used when playing CoH?
My basic question is, I will be away from my regular internet connection and have a 4G wifi connection for a week or so. I have limited data on that connection. For around 3 gigs, how much play time is viable? So much that I shouldn't care? 2 iTrials and I'm done? I have no idea what to expect.
Does anyone have any kind of personal experience with this?
Does anyone know how play style affects data transfer? I presume an iTrial full of people and events results in a higher data transfer per minute than say a solo mission with all your global channels shut down, but how much more?
If anyone has ever looked into this or has personal experience with it, I would be interested in hearing what you have found.
TIA
I'm not sure if other ISPs do this, but Optimum Online offers free Wifi for their customers.
I tend to use it for my iPod Touch when I'm at work since we don't have wireless here.
There are also places like Starbucks and McDonalds that offer free Wifi to their customers as well.
Just something to check/keep in mind -
Quote:Really it depends on the overall goal of those who are running it.I just did the ITF for the first time in years. It was simply stupid.
Every character simply ignored the foes and ran through the missions past them, taking out only the ones they needed to. There was no challenge to it. 90% of the foes may as well not have been there.
Is the rest of the high level this stupid now?
Reasons for Speed Runs:
-Get Notice of the Well and move on to other stuff.
-Get XP bonus and move on to other stuff.
-Get bonus merits and move on to other stuff.
-Just to see how fast they can do the TF.
-Working on Assistant badge (50 runs of a WST after you get the bonus)
Generally when I'm leading ITFs (rare, but it happens!) I let people on the TF know what type of run it is before we start. So, if they do not want to be on a Speed run (or conversely, a Shard/XP run) - they can leave.
I think I did close to 20 ITFs while it was the WST this time around - most were speed runs. In part, it was to help some folks get their Assistant badge. But I also love playing my tricked out TW/Elec brute. Zooooooooom! -
I have a level 50 StJ/WP brute and I love(d) it!
It was my favorite brute until I rolled my TW/Elec.
Generally speaking, I prefer brutes over scrappers. Better HP/res numbers. And I don't like relying on criticals for extra damage. -
Quote:If Reward Tokens were awarded up front for multi-month subscriptions like they originally said they would, I would have the celestial and these on my 2nd account...Yeah technically these new costume sets are purchasable already. You may not like how expensive they are if you haven't been a subscribed player for many years, but that's not Paragon Studios' fault.
