  1. hmmm, math whiz...

math nerd + gaming nerd = hot ?

not your typical equation for hotness.
  2. Like has been mentioned before, by the time you're running perma-rage, AAO in big groups, have Footstomp and Shield Charge (plus all the recharge and damage buffs from the /Kin) you'll be doing Scrapper level damage. I run with my SD/SS all the time on TF's and Farms and he destroys everything. Once you get to the ancillary power pools and add in Fireball, your AoE potential is on par or above any Scrapper set in terms of AoE.
  3. I ran into this last night as the leader of an ITF group. The person I eventually kicked kept dying quickly and would wait from 5 - 10 mins to either use an awaken or go to the hospital. Once at the hospital, it took them another 5 - 10 minutes to come back to the mission.

After the frist three missions I sent a tell warning them that they needed to participate more actively in the TF. Sure enough, they came to the mission right after. Once inside, however, the person just sat there...then made their way to the final confrontation area with Romulus, put themselves into Rest and proceeded to do nothing while we fought Romulus. I told the person that if they weren't back by the time we'd killed him 3 times, then they were out. Sure enough, they didn't respond or help, so they were gone.

I'm pretty sure this was a case of someone seeking free merits with no effort - and I didn't think that was fair to the rest of us.
  4. I joined an all-level 50 team the other night on my controller, entered the mission and promptly spent 17 out of the next 20 minutes mezzed.

Next time I'm faced with Malta on a non-mez protected toon, I think I'll just pass.
  5. Soloing a Defender can be a bit tedious, especially at the lower levels. Do you have any or multiple veteran attack powers? That might help you ease into things.

I'd suggest teaming up with another person or two to make life easier for yourself.
  6. With most AT's, the early levels are a bit of a chore, but I believe it is even more pronounced for Kheldians. Honestly, all I can tell you about the pre-20 game is to grin and bear it. The pain you experience can be off-set quite a bit by getting on large teams to take advantage of the team-link bonuses that will work on both your human and Nova forms.

You can play however you'd like, but in those early levels I considered myself a blaster (in Nova form) with a few ancillary powers that could be useful...immobilize, teleport etc.

Particularly for WS's, the early-20s are when you start to come into your own. By that time, you will have the ability to use 2 mires (upping your damage tremendously), and at 22 when you get Stygian Circle, you will be able to refill your HP and End bar. This will revolutionize the way you see your character. Sure, there will still be struggles, but, particularly in large teams, you will be able to refill after every fight off of several defeated enemies.

Be patient - the early levels go pretty quickly. The pre-20 game on Kheldians is not a good indicator of how things will be for you.
  7. I may consider it with my Warshade - but definitely not with my PB.

    Intro to PvP?

    PvP basics...

No XP, no Debt - unless you kill or get killed by NPC's

You can get drops off of other players, however, so that is kind of a perk that happens every so often.

It's good you are on Freedom because this server tends to have a larger population, so you'll be able to jump into the action pretty quickly.

I personally learned the basics by messing around in Bloody Bay and dabbling in Siren's. Both places have some decent 'open' PvP - that is to say many are engaging one another in PvP. They also both tend to have 'fight clubs' where people do 1 v 1 and hope that no one interferes...which happens regularly.

Best thing to do is mess around on a few characters you'd like to play, then find which one is the most fun for you and then stick with that one for a while. Also, don't get discouraged if you get killed over and over again. We are all beginners at some point. Along those same lines, if you play with a Scrapper or Tank, it might be easier for you to learn the basics. They are more forgiving than playing any of the other AT's. Yeah, you might not get as many kills, but you'll survive longer and you'll be able to learn more with fewer deaths. Just remember, in PvP every AT gets mezzed, so dont' be surprised when it happens. Also, whether you are attacked or being attacked, you will have your travel suppressed, so don't be surprised by that either.

Let's see...well, feel free to PM me and I'll send you my global. I'm on Freedom and would be happy to run around with you for a bit, or even get on a villain and tangle with you in the zone...or we could even do some arena matches.

I would say most of anything - be patient. You won't get the hang of it right away because it is pretty different from PvP. Don't quit after getting repeatedly killed. Find others in the same faction to team with and find others who have similar builds or AT's and learn by watching what they do.

P.S. If you are a hero, don't stand still...there might be a Stalker around getting ready to AS you. That's why you'll see heroes bouncing around non-stop.

    Bane Buffs?

What I can't figure out is why (sans set bonuses) Banes have a lower Melee defense and a higher Ranged defense while Forts (sans set bonuses) have a higher Melee defense and lower Ranged defense. It's as if they want you to choose Crab over Bane and NW over Fort. It's counter-intuitive.
  10. What if all the stalkers want to stalk the stalkers and end up having nothing to stalk?

    The mood on MA

It might just be me but...pre-nerf, the servers were loaded with players, even unavailable during peak hours. Now? Business as usual. I think the thrill is gone, and I predict the MA will only be used by a small portion of the playerbase going forward.

Since loot was introduced into the game, most players will not do something that doesn't give decent rewards, and MA does not do that any more.
  12. Yep...AE is headed toward the ghost-town status that the Arena currently enjoys.

Lower XP, rewards and all the garbage to sift through...yep, back to the old content for me.
  13. Read the bold...skimmed the rest, but I can safely say that if the changes you propose made it into the game, it would be an improvement.

I have yet to be bored enough with the game to make one and slot a build, but in 3.5 years of lurking in pvp, i have seen a total of 1 kheld that was worth a damn. More power to you if you get a successful build with one, please post it when you're done.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What server are you on? I've seen a couple of good PB's in my time...and I'd like to think that mine would be included in that group.

Admittedly, I PvP'd with it a lot even before I13 and had a lot of practice in timing my form shifts and maximizing my attacks and heals. The change to mez beneffited PB's quite a bit...and so did the buff to the Nova form blasts.
  15. Both are more viable now in Nova form...but PB still has the upper-hand on WS by quite a bit.

Unfortunately, a number of the WS powers are dependent on "powering up" off of opponents (multiple) and PvP just isn't conducive to that. The WS Nova is still a pretty decent option for hover-blasting and can stack a lot of -rech fast...but without all the heals and build up of PB, doesn't quite pack the same punch.

I don't have a Mid's build to post from where I'm at, but there are a number of PB PvP posts in the Kheldian forum.

someone wrote a really good guide for Kheld PVP. I wish i could remember who it was.

    it basically boiled down to

    /delete

    [/ QUOTE ]

That was me, back in PvP General. Heh.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Your guide is severely outdated.
  17. I'll reply to a few things in this thread, but there are a ton of other posts about PB PvP.

-Slotting the +perception IO in Nova is the way to go in my opinion...it's not that much of a buff, but every little bit helps.

-Dwarf from does act like a BF in a way...but really, by the time you finish the animation, the hold is off you anyway. If it's a hold from a Dom in Domination, it will still be on you, but it reduces the time it affects you. Dwarf is great for the extra heal and the extra HP's if you ever get in a tough bind.

-The stealth IO must be combined with Stealth (the pool power) to be effective. Super speed doesn't grant any stealth in PvP. Stealth is a good power choice to fly around undetected (for the most part) in conjunction with the IO...however, a good portion of the villain ATs have high perception, so they'll still mostly see you.

-Here is the order of bonuses I would go for: +Rech, +Accuracy...and then anything else you can squeeze in. You'll want your heals up as often as possible, and with 3 available heals (EB included) you'll be a tough out. Also, with all the +recharge and good slotting, you'll have Essence Boost perma'd, making your Nova form less risky.

PvP for PBs is a pretty simple forula right now - slot dmg/rng Hami-Os into your Nova attacks, and blast away. Sure you can pepper in a few IS's here and there, or do other fun things, but you'll pump out a good amount of damage in a short amount of times with the fast recharge/activation times in those Nova form blasts.

I believe this is the fastest 1-50 done through MA, shattering all previous records.

    one hour

    [/ QUOTE ]

Log in. Level pact with lowbie. Log out. Pact-mate powerlevels essentially 100 levels. Log back in. Voila, "one hour." Interesting as performance art, but performance art nonetheless.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thats cool. But thats not what I did. Nice theory though

    [/ QUOTE ]

Then tell us how...even with an optimal build, group and technique you're still faced with AoE caps, recharge times etc.
  19. This is pretty much what I found. 1 - 40 you can rip through...a matter of minutes if all goes well. However, after that it's impossible to get the rest of those levels in under an hour - even if you are killing easy level 50s - 52s for someone auto sk'd to 45.
  20. There are certain 'farm' maps that have been a blast to play lately...thick infestation of enemies that seem to have no end. Wading through them with my Brute made me feel pretty super and I had a ton of fun. Sure, the tickets and xp were great, but having fun fighting off the swarms was the best part of the experience.

    Arch/MM threads

Yeesh...you sacrifice a lot to get that defense...and then you don't even go with the defensive armor for your ancillary.

You're really lacking a lot of recharge in your AoE powers and stacking powers that you'll never really use with 6 slots.
  22. This isn't much faster than the 'random roll' one would get from a quick KHTF a couple of issues back. Only thing is, to get this many you have to pad, and only "1 roll" is being given as a reward rather than 8.

It does seem a little high, but again, the caps are in place, no other drops are being given during the entire time and no one else is benefitting.
  23. Scrapper, Brute or Stalker sound like the way to go...they are more forgiving than other AT's that are more high-risk / high-reward (like a Blaster). You still do good damage but have some tools to survive.

Like others have said, spines regen is a good option....

Congrats. You have figured out one of the 100 reasons why 90% of the PvP playerbase quit the game when I13 came out

    [/ QUOTE ]

90%...really? That number seems a little inflated.
