  1. I was playing through WWD#7 with a friend when we get to the mission with the spiral of ships. We get to the pulse bit fine and we defeat the ambushes... But the pulse didn't stop. Obviously something had gone wrong so I called the GM. An hour later, and a whole levels-worth of EXP debt from the GM trying to make us (i.e. teleporting us into the middle of mobs to either be killed by them or Wade's nuke) clear the map whilst the nuke was going off, the GM decided to just auto-complete the mission for us.

More embarrassing for the GM than us.

I've also had a problem with an Oranbega map. Can't remember which one it was but I could see that there was a room adjacent to the one I was in and I just couldn't figure out how to get there. Turns out there was a small alcove in the corner of a different room that I kept on missing. I called for a GM on that one too.
  2. How about electric blast attacks having a chance to chain against pet, underling, minion, lieutenant and boss class enemies with a short radius?

    10 Worst X-Men?

I disagree with Cypher. Since his resurrection in Necrosha every use of his power has just been made of win.

    Nice try though.

Assault sets are partly derived from Blast sets though. Even then it'll probably only affect Blaze, Bitter Ice Blast and Power Burst. I'd be very surprised if Life Drain and Thorn Barrage were increased.
  5. If it's good enough for Cannonball!
  6. It's not as if character animations are an issue for Control and Assault sets. For Control - Dominators and Controllers always do the same actions, and for Assault - it's simply a proliferation, the only effort needed is to rebalance powers.

As for Water Melee, it may be difficult to think of a whole set of them, but one or two aren't that difficult and could be done with existing animations. You could go the Kinetic Melee route, firing short ranged bursts of water, or you could go for a touch attack kind of route, such as a drown power where you push water into an enemy causing DoT.

Water Control would most likely use powers similar to Water Blast, but more controlling. A geyser knockup patch that does minimal damage but functions like Ice Slick, small whirlpools around the feet of enemies to immobilise them, spheres of water to hold, a different take on dehydration where the enemies are stunned instead. The pet could simply be like a water version of Animus Arcana based on the water gathering part of Hydro Blast with its attacks including Aqua Bolt, the single target immobilise and maybe hold, and a weaker version of Dehydrate.

It's not as if they've ran out of concepts either - there's Radiation, Sonic, Water, gadgets, guns, martial arts, close-range weapons, even Illusion could have an Assault set if they put their minds to it. The only thing I can think of holding them back is that they want parity for Dominator sets and aren't willing to dedicate time to Assault sets if there's nothing there to proliferate from. So rather than creating two sets from scratch, they'd rather make one set from scratch (or at least effects and the numbers) and then proliferate powers from blast and melee sets to make Assault.

The game isn't balanced around IOs, thus things shouldn't be balanced around permadom. It's no different than what Device Blasters will be able to do, except they will do more damage because snipes under domination would have their damage scale reduced quite significantly back to the standard snipe damage range.
  8. Out of the three changes, two of them benefit four AT as well as ancillary pools and patron pools. Not really just Blaster changes - that's just how they've been advertised.

    I'd support this.

I have a question, if you'd humour me one more time at the risk of sounding like a broken record.

What's your opinion on survivability disparity between, say, a Mind/Psi Dominator (with Drain Psyche and plenty of opportunity to safely use it) and an Ice/Ice Dominator who is forced into melee with risky alpha-mitigation and a slow propagating confuse?
  10. Assault sets aren't as limited as Manipulation sets are in that Manipulation sets need some Control powers. Assault sets, on the other hand, need melee, radiation and utility (often from a Defence set) - those are extremely abundant. A lot of them can just be done as proliferations, such as Kinetic Assault (based on Kinetic Melee but with different ranges), Radiation Assault (with Shivan Radiation Melee attacks) and lots of weapon sets.

The reality is that melee sets are getting more ranged, ranged sets are getting closer, and debuff sets are getting more controlling.

    Controllers and Dominators are done.
  11. A little birdie informed me that he may be willing to have snipes quick-cast in Domination with the drawback of bringing the damage back in-line with the standard snipes. I personally never even realised they did more damage than usual.

It is true that the changes were for Blasters, but Defenders and Corruptors benefit just as much from the snipe changes, possibly more so if they get access to to-hit buffs or tactics running off higher numbers.

It's basically the bait and switch that prompted me to make this thread.

Sadly, I doubt that Dominators will get the buffs to utility powers like Chilling Embrace and Mud Pots. So there will always be a disparity between the survivability of, for example, /Ice and /Elec Doms and /Psi (and to a lesser extent /Dark) Doms, just because some of the control sets are better than others at what they do for Doms.

I suggested this instead in the Summation thread:

Wouldn't it be possible to use the same tech as Hybrid so that picking up your Snipe grants you an auto power that serves no purpose other than to apply a specific status to you that would suppress in combat and then tie the different behaviors of the snipes to that status flag?

That way the change would apply equally to all sets with snipes.
I like your idea. Alternatively, just tie it into Domination for Dominators rather than to-hit bonus.

I agree that the Assault sets generally don't really need much help. However, there is one that is just riddled with bad decisions - Electricity Assault. If there was an easier way of getting the 22% to-hit bonus then the snipe could be a really good substitute for the lack of a T3 blast. Right now, though, it's missing a T3 blast and a serviceable PBAoE attack for Voltaic Sentinel and Thunder Strike... Not the best of powers.

I would also like to see Dominators, who can be just as squishy as Blasters when levelling up or when fighting particular factions that resist some mez, get something similar to the survivability improvements. Icy Assault would get Frigid Protection, Earth Assault would get an improvement on Mud Pots, Electricity Assault could get something on Voltaic Sentinel, Energy Assault could get something extra tacked onto Power Boost and Thorny Assault can get... Something... Maybe when standing on Thorntrops? Fiery Assault doesn't really need it because it can do lots of damage. Finally, Dark Assault and Psionic Assault have Life Drain and Drain Psyche respectively, so it's not out of the question for Dominators to have some sort of survivability power. By giving all the other sets one it will bring them more in-line with eachother whilst diversifying if done correctly (i.e. Absorb on one, heal ticks on another, regen on another, recovery on one).
  13. The problem with that is that it necessitates villain or rogue alignment, which not everyone wants, as well as foregoing a defence based armour, just to make a snipe better.

    Is it worth it?
  14. Firstly the Snipe changes - at first I thought "cool, this could make them useful".

Then on closer inspection it's apparent that they are still useless. Why? You need 22% To-Hit buff. Unless you slot Kismet in Electricity Assault that value is unattainable without using yellow inspirations.

Blazing Bolt - Embrace of Fire. No to-hit buff.
Moon Beam - Gather Shadows. No to-hit buff.
Sniper Blast - Power Boost. No to-hit buff.
Psionic Lance - Drain Psyche. No to-hit buff.
Zapp - Build Up. Medium to-hit buff.

Wasn't the whole point of Moon Beam staying in Dark Assault down to Snipes being made viable?

At least the range increases will benefit powers like Blaze and Bitter Ice Blast. I'm also hoping that the devs can be convinced into changing Chilling Embrace for Frigid Protection (30ft range, enemy Slow, self Absorb) in Icy Assault to help set it apart from other Assault sets and to provide synergy with its sister Control set.

    New Power Sets

    Dark Control.

I wouldn't be surprised if new Control sets never get gimmicks shoehorned in... If they ever make another one. There were 18 months between Electric and Dark Control, when only three sets were released between them (Time Manipulation, Beam Rifle and Street Justice) compared to the seven sets and possible ATs post-Dark Control (Beast Mastery, Staff Fighting, Water Blast, Bio Armour, Nature Affinity, Radiation Armour, Psi Melee, etc).

So, from that list, you'll have a very long wait before something non-gimmicky comes along because, maybe aside from the two Defence sets, they all have some sort of point-based or combo mechanic.

Would new palettes be out of the question?
  17. I play solo about 90% of the time, only forming a team for SG stuff, TFs and trials.

Dink for lead designer! That way we can get the Black Knight stuff too.

    Also, FPARN!

    I24 hopes?

    My hopes:

    1) More power customisation - specifically for power pools, ancillaries and patron pools, but also new attack animations for the "generic" sets.

    2) Something new to do in the level 40 region.

    3) Something interesting for Dominators.
  20. Shadow Hunter also has numerous Pacman tattooed on his chest.
  21. Only if it's an international charity. Otherwise no.

Speaking of Maelstrom, shouldn't there be a Praetorian version of him? And a Primal version of Desdemona, for that matter.
  23. I don't know how much of this is FX (probably not much) but could you make a larger variety of colours and more accurate colours available for Plant Control and the Earth/Stone customisations? It's really difficult to find a suitable colour for Plant because it seems like they are pretinted somewhat. For Earth/Stone, particularly the Crystal options, would it be possible to get the full colour palette?

    Thank you!
  24. Only problem is that the radius is 10ft. I'd actually go for control because Arctic Air will activate containment and be granted +1 mez so the confuse lasts longer and can affect harder enemies.
  25. I have three level 50 Doms and one that's nearly level 50. They are Mind/Psi, Ice/Ice, Elec/Elec and Gravity/Energy. What I'm planning is Control for the Mind and Ice - reasons being that the Containment aspect works, I think, on any control and damaging power, whilst the Mez boost will help Arctic Air in particular. For my Elec/Elec I'm planning on taking Melee for the defence boost to use Conductive Aura well and the taunt aspect to keep things inside it. My Gravity/Energy, which is light on control, will definitely go for Assault.
