Which Hybrid for Mind/Psy?
Can we expand this question to include doms in general, and permadoms specifically?
I didn't mess with Hybrid on test this go round, so aside from what I read on the wiki, I'm in the dark on what this incarnate set can bring to the table for doms.
Please buff Ice Control.
I have three level 50 Doms and one that's nearly level 50. They are Mind/Psi, Ice/Ice, Elec/Elec and Gravity/Energy. What I'm planning is Control for the Mind and Ice - reasons being that the Containment aspect works, I think, on any control and damaging power, whilst the Mez boost will help Arctic Air in particular. For my Elec/Elec I'm planning on taking Melee for the defence boost to use Conductive Aura well and the taunt aspect to keep things inside it. My Gravity/Energy, which is light on control, will definitely go for Assault.
In the non-permadom sphere of things, control core would help, giving +1 mag to all controls when up. Of course it's more than that...the resistance is there, but the other fun part is the pseudo-containment you get, even if it is psy. I took it and enjoy it, even with my Mind/Psy permadom, though I will admit is was partially for theme. Not as many resist psy damage, and even to those that do, it's still extra damage. Mind/ has AMPLE means of setting up the sortof-containment, so it's giving you two things at once.
But that gets to the next part...one of the 'weakness' of /psy is the lack of +damage. As such I want for core assault as well, which at tier 4 gives a passive +10% damage as well as up to 5 stacks of 15% +damage from it when toggled on. Throw in the ascendancy of the dominator +damage catalyzed, with its up to 3 stacks of 21.25% +damage, and that can net you up to almost +150% damage if consistently attacking. Mind you it makes me feel like I've become a pseudo-brute chasing the +damage stack from attacks, but it's fun nonetheless.
Just unlocked Hybrid myself on my Dark/Dark/Soul Permadom, haven't made any choices yet.
-both trees are attractive, pseudo-containment on one, and on the other the frear/ immobilize fits my theme, and Fear to Stun mechanic looks attractive when combined with Fearsome Stare
-Assault for the reasons Seldom stated
-Melee to add a bit of survivability
Support has no attraction on my Dom
of the three, control has the least attractive passive effect, if it was status protection maybe, but status resistance?
How does the alpha slot interact with Hybrid?
Over the weekend I unlocked Hybrid and put the Control Core Embodiment (+1 mag) on my Mind/Psy/Psi Dom. All I can say is wow. Combined with the Intuition Radial Paragon and the Cognitive Radial she went from pretty wicked to a beast. Proc'ing both Psychic DOT and Confusion on top of amplified control is insanely fun. I'll have to save up again for the Assault Hybrid, but I certainly can see cases where the enhanced dps from Assault would be handy (read clockwork). I spend almost too much time at Range to see ever getting any use out of Melee so I doubt that'll ever see any use on her. Support, while it looks handy, will most likely be the last hybrid I build unless I see some pressing issues (doubtful) that force me to build and slot it.
But, all that might have to wait a little bit as after a weekend of Magi trials to unlock 4 Hybrid slots... Trialing is off the radar for at least a few days (and then no more Magi for a bit... *cries at the thought of still having to get 'The Really Hard Way' on the badger* )
Hope that helps.

one thing I would worry about the damage proc in control powers, is its impact on my ST confuse, i.e. would the damage cause agro? Similar question with sleep powers, I would assume it would apply the damage before the sleep effect, but I could see it making stacking sleep with Mass Hypnosis difficult
The extra damage as far as I understand it is from using a damaging power on an already controlled target, similar to the way that the Controller's inherent power works. Any attack that would cause damage would already wake sleeping targets, with Control Core Hybrid it just does more damage when it wakes them.
In other words, it's not the sleep power that causes the extra damage, but any follow-up attacks you make on the slept target.

I went with Assault. My dom is perma so it made sense. With all of the tools of Mind/, I should have more than enough control already for Control, though I may explore it later. Got no interest in Support--doesn't seem as useful for our AT.

I basically have two questions. Does confuse count for the pseudo-containment damage from the control hybrid. Secondly, assuming confuse does count, if you assume most things are controlled most of the time, would the containment bonus damage be more then the bonus damage from assault. If it is more, is it enough more that it's worth going control if you can't get the bonus on a lot of AVs/GMs.
I'm currently trying to decide on which hybrid for my Plant/Earth/Ice Permadom. I'm torn between Assault for + damage or Control for the damage proc? Does anyone have any insight on which would make the character do more damage over time?
Any advice would be appreciated. I'm thinking assault, but I can't shake the feeling that there's something in control I'm missing. The +1 mag and stat resist would only help when domination is down, which doesn't happen much but moreso on trials (when I faceplant too often for frenzy to recharge).
Also, the extra dam for control is psy, which I already have plenty of. So I'm thinking assault would have more value- especially with the doublehit giving energy damage (that would be extremely helpful on high psy-resist enemies).
Am I looking at this right, or am I missing something? Again, any opinions or advice would help out a lot.
