I decided to download CO just to see how it compared, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. For the free version at least, costume and power customization seem severely limited. Does anyone know if paying for a subscription measurably improves these aspects?
  2. So, i24 has made me interested in playing blasters again, but my Arch/Dev needs a lot of help. I'd like to up his survivability (specifically for solo play) so that I can work on getting his incarnate powers unlocked and slotted. He currently has only the T1 alpha spiritual slotted, and working through DA has been slow and painful.

    So, here's the current build:

Specific questions: Should I pick up gun drone? If so, what should I replace and where should I get slots?

What Destiny power offers the best protection for solo play?

Speculation for i24: Where are people planning to put the new ATO set?

Any new/reworked pool powers looking especially good for blasters?

Any and all advice, criticism, condemnation, slander, insults, teasing, or other forms of communication are welcome.
  3. So, which one wins out on tankers? I've seen some arguments from both sides, but has anyone done any comparison testing?

I've got a SD/SS tank, so I'm thinking radial might work well for added energy dmg to offset all my smashing, but since the info lists no numbers I don't know how often it will go off.

Core seems pretty straitforward, but people have mentioned it being less effective b/c of the tanker dmg cap. I'm guessing that won't be a problem solo (which I do about 75% of the time), but when doing trials I hit the cap frequently.

    So, what does everyone think?
  4. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm thinking assault, but I can't shake the feeling that there's something in control I'm missing. The +1 mag and stat resist would only help when domination is down, which doesn't happen much but moreso on trials (when I faceplant too often for frenzy to recharge).

Also, the extra dam for control is psy, which I already have plenty of. So I'm thinking assault would have more value- especially with the doublehit giving energy damage (that would be extremely helpful on high psy-resist enemies).

Am I looking at this right, or am I missing something? Again, any opinions or advice would help out a lot.
  5. Thanks for the replies. I thought that's the way it worked from the description, but just wanted to be sure.
  6. So I'm finally starting to incarnate-out my mind/psy dom and I'm wonderning about the interface slot. I know the reactive DoT proc breaks mezmerize (which I can live with), but does it also fire off with Mass Hypnosis? I searched the forums and found two posts which stated the exact opposite of each other.

Next question - if the DoT does break the AoE sleep, should I just go with the 75% debuff - or is there a better option? (I solo frequently, so the AoE sleep gets a lot of use.) Any opinions would be welcome.
  7. I'm currently working on both a StJ/SD scrapper and a StJ/EA brute. I've planned out my builds on Mids, and realized that to get every power in that I'd like, I'm going to have to drop one of the StJ powers for my later level build (other than confront/taunt, which I wasn't taking anyway).

My question is, which is the better power to skip - initial strike or heavy blow? Obviously I want a smooth attack chain with the best dps potential. They both take the same IO sets so that isn't a consideration.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also, if there's a reson to pick one for brute and the other for scrapper (such as fury building), please let me know. Thanks all.
  8. I would actually love to get a job at NCSoft going through and correcting all their grammar and spelling mistakes. The sheer number of times they use the not-a-real-word "alright" would, by itself, keep me employed for several months.

Ah, o.k. Thanks for the clarification.

Is mid's incorrect for overload? It does not list any added defense for psi(or toxic). Or are you just referencing the increase in hp?
  11. Okay, then it must be a bug. I'll send a report. Thanks for the replies.
  12. I'm noticing an unusual situation when using sweeping cross as a finisher. If I hit, combo works and resets, no problem. If I swing at one mob and miss, the combo does not reset, giving me the chance to use another finisher (or SC again if it recharges in time).

However, if I line up multiple mobs (usually 2) and use SC and miss both/all of them, my combo points are reset as if I had hit one. Is this WAI? I'm just not sure I understand the mechanic here. Miss one, o.k., you can still use your combo points. Miss two, you're out of luck.

I'm not sure if this happens with Spinning Strike also as I have not yet reached that level. I searched the forums but couldn't find any reference to this phenomenon. Any clarification offered would be much appreciated.

Side note: I log in once a day (when i load up my browser) and I dont have to keep on relogging in.
Would you mind letting us know what browser you're using? I'm just wondering if that has any bearing on the problem. I use IE8 for this forum (yes, I know, I'm an idiot), and I have had to re-sign in every time I come to the forums since VIP and the password mix-up. Before that, it was once every three or so times I visited the forums.

Heya MI, long time no see! Just so you know, I'm still around and kicking on Infinity (the one and only server for me)! Unfortunately, the DoP seems to have died off, so not sure how many SG mates you'll find.

Infinity is not dead, though quiet at times. I found that if you join the 2 badges channels (Infinity Badges and Infinity Badges 2.0) you'll be able to keep yourself in teams/tfs/trials etc. There are a couple people out there that run regular trials and are very helpful - Armored Nictus (I think his global is @VillainTech?) and @ShottyMario (who runs several toons of which I don't remember names.)

Anyway, I'm about to go on a 2 week vacation, but I'd love to catch up with you if you're arnound when I get back!

  15. Hello all. I find myself in need of some guidance. I'm in a college class that is requiring me to make a video using a virtual world program. I, of course, decided to use CoX because I'm very familiar with it and it's so incredibly awesome. The problem is, I've never tried anything like this before, and I have several questions. I hope some of you experts can help me out. Okay, here goes:

    1. I was told that Fraps was a good tool to use to capture video, so I downloaded the free version. It works well, but the one problem I have is that I don't want to have all my trays visible in the movie. Of course, I can close all my trays, but then some of the action sequences I would like to do would be very difficult. Is there any way to leave my trays open but not have them in the movie? I think I read that using /demorecord can do this; if so, that leads to question 2-

    2. Will /demorecord capture the video without the trays showing (like printscreen does)? If so, how do I use demorecord? I think I sort of understand the basic process, but I'm not sure how to turn it from a text file into a movie file that can be viewed from a standard media player.

    3. Once I have the movie, I will have to do some editing. Mainly this will be voiceover work, but I might also need to zoom in/crop and insert text and such. Is there a good (cheap or free) program that I can get to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. My projects aren't due for several weeks, but I want to get some practice in so I know what I'm doing.

  16. I personally have gotten a purple drop from a lvl 49 mob. I was running at -1 difficulty and all the mobs in the group I was targetting were 49, so it had to come from one of them. Of course, it was from the confuse set, which is one of the lower value sets, and I only made 5 million off of it, but a purple is a purple.

    Good sign? :P

I think this is a great change, but now I question the need for the change in the two upgrade powers. Wasn't the point of that to speed the setup process when entering a mission? Now, the only time we'll need to resummon is when the henchmen die, and it's unlikely for all of them to die at once unless the mastermind does.

So I guess my point is, since most resummoning will be done in combat situations now, are massive endurance hog upgrade powers still desirable?
  18. I'm having this same problem with Windows Vista- the uploader gets hung up on "checking updater" - haven't been able to get in since i15 came out. I made sure my permissions were correct on my firewall (even tried turning it off). Anyone figure out a resolution for this?
