It's worth it for the bragging rights.
The AVs I've soloed were also under the influence of the Cardiac Uncommon. I love what it does for your endurance. I also tried soloing Silver Mantis in Ouro, which put me under the level for a lot of my set bonuses and the Alpha slot - I couldn't beat her, but that's because she uses a cheater version of Unstoppable that's on a short recharge and doesn't crash.
I couldn't say whether you could do it without the Envenomed Dagger, but I was able to solo Nightstar and Marauder without inspirations or temporary powers on my Inv/Fire.
I don't do it on a regular basis, but it is a nice way to really test out a build.
I really should try Battle Maiden sometime... but there are other AVs to test against, and I'm still working on my final build. Only 23 more hero merits to get that PvP IO for the rebuild. It wouldn't make a difference against Battle Maiden - the really really expensive IO build (as opposed to the really expensive one I run now) nets me a whole 2.5% recharge and softcaps to E/N as well as S/L.
Seriously, though, you soloed an AV on a tank. Je Saist said it couldn't be done and would be nerfed if it could. Walk with pride, and know you could do it again if you had to. -
Quote:The script for it wasn't that bad and did capture something of the feel of the Tarzan novels...Yes, I saw the Casper Van Dien film listed over at IMDB, but to be honest I consider my toilet-mat to be more of a potential box-office draw than Casper Van Dien films.... so i did the right thing and ignored it.
...yeah, it wasn't a good movie. -

Why in the world are you requiring people that sign up to be Incarnates?
-
Quote:Except, you know, not as blatantly racist?Hmmm...
And lastly, Tarzan. Sure, I'm all for that. But keep your dirty, filthy, nasty, pretentious, "re-imaging" paws away from it please. How bout this... have the screenwriters READ THE FREAKING BOOKS and then make a screenplay faithful to them. Don't update it, don't modernize it, don't re-image, don't combine several into one. Just adapt one of the several fine ERB novels for screen.
I'll admit that was only a huge problem in the first book, but it was HUGE. "All Black Africans are cannibal savages" huge. -
Quote:Actually, parsing the language says that the only way to craft the rare and very rare Alpha abilities are to do the weekly TFs or the Incarnate trials. From the sounds of it not until i20 but i would like clarification on that until told otherwise
There is no mention of crafting a "Notice of the Well" with Incarnate shards. -
If Quaterfield becomes TF of the week...
I will quietly cry. -
Quote:I'm tempted to start a charity drive for you... post a build, and have people send you all the crafted set IOs needed. You'd have to do nothing but slot what people send you.I'm not in the habit of taking something I don't like and turning it into something I do, that's what it comes down to. Not when I can start up a Brute, a Scrapper or especially a Mastermind and have that same experience for none of the hassle.
I should never have gotten as "invested" into Blasters as I did, and I blame my own foolishness and a massive case of a sunk cost fallacy for it. I'd sooner play ATs I like and make them better than ATs I don't and try to compensate. -
Quote:Sam?Oooh! I remember why I started playing Blasters and why I thought it was a good idea at the time! Doh, I can be so dense sometimes. Sit back, folks, and let me take you on a journey in the Wayback Machine.
As I mentioned, the Steel Rook was my original Blaster, made way back in 2004, and was AR/Dev. Remember what else 2004 is famous for? "City of Blasters." Remember what Devices was famous for in 2004? Smoke Grenade, or more specifically the decimal point error in Smoke Grenade which made its to-hit debuff 50% instead of the intended 5%, as well as whatever tag wasn't put in place which allowed the debuff to stack from the same caster. Um... Yeah, remember those glory days?
To put it simply, I made the Rook, and I was getting killed. A lot. Right up, that is, until I got Smoke Grenade. From that point on, the Rook became a tank-mage, because nothing could hit him or damage him. Fun was had by all, and a truly overpowered character dashed all the way up to 34. Just in time for I2, and the "Smoke Grenade Nerf." I watched my paradise crumble before my eyes, waking up to the very real experience of being one-shotted by a Tank Swiper back when that could happen and Blasters had less health. I decided I wasn't going to play the Rook any more because... Well, I didn't know HOW. I mean, after all this time relying on the one trick pony of Smoke Grenade which had let me essentially not move and just cycle through my attacks, playing like a Tanker with Assault Rifle, I didn't know what to do and how to play. Truth be told, seven years later, I still apparently don't, so I'm finally calling it quits.
I should have been smart. I should have just let the Rook hang and not bothered, but he was a friend's character, so I kept wanting to play at least him, and I kept getting pissed off and logging out in a huff. Eventually I gave him a backstory worth a lot of effort, and Castle did that Defiance 2.0 upgrade, so I managed to convince myself that maybe I could still play Blasters without Smoke Grenade. But I can't. Let's face facts - I don't want to.
Point? Not much, but now I do remember WHY I thought I could and should play the AT - thanks to Geko leaving in a bugged debuff ten times as strong as it should have been and leaving it in for what amounted to six months.
With an IO build, you can have that feeling again.
I'm just saying. -
Quote:Smashing Haymakers will do just fine for an Ice tank... It's what I did with mine, and he's at softcap to S/L with one in EA... and he's currently level 32.Looking it over it's not too far from what I'd been planning as a back of the envelope build; it's the same basic thought process anyway. All those Kin Combat IO's are going to be a challenge... with all the i19 respecs I've kind of depleted my store of those. A month ago I had 8 full sets in storage... now I have 3 lonely IO's sitting in the storage rack.
I think I have 3 characters right now working on those sets... my 28 Ice/Electric tanker, the 24 Dark/Electric tanker and my 50 Stone/Fire tank. It gets expensive working on IO builds for a dozen characters all at once and influence doesn't go as far anymore. On the other hand my Shield/Fire tank had an Armageddon drop night before last that sold for 700 million... fortunate since I'd just dropped over 100 million on that level 28 Ice/Elec.
Oh, wait, electric melee... fewer spots for melee sets... yeah, you might need those KCs. -

Also, gloom does significantly more damage than LBE according to Mids.

Quote:All I can say is that people, myself included, said the same thing when they heard Heath Ledger as the Joker. I ate those words with delight at how it turned out.I'm probably in the minority in thinking that Anne Hathaway isn't a good choice for Catwoman. To me, Selina's supposed to radiate enough sex appeal to actually put a dent in Bruce's dedication to justice, and Michelle Pfeiffer pulled that off well, I think. However, I'm not yet convinced Anne Hathaway can play a devious seductress.
I put my faith in Nolan. -
I'll give you a couple of different directions you could go:
1. Keep the character, do an IO build that focuses on upping ranged defense. Possibly Smash/Lethal defense, if you wanted to take him villainside for a bit to get access to the Mace Mastery pool (which is also thematically correct.) Such a build would only need to be moderately expensive, and certainly within the means of most players.
2. AR/Traps, either defender or corruptor. Force Field Generator does great things for survivability, particularly because of the status resistance. -
Quote:I like playing around with the possible on resist builds. It's absolutely not probable that I would play something like this... I simply don't have the billions it would require to try it.That's an impressive, but expensive build. If we wait for the tier 4 Alpha boost, I calculated that Granite slotted with 3 resist IOs would give 86.404% resistance with a Cardiac boost. That would make it much easier and less expensive to reach the caps on resistances.
And I did not account for the Alpha boosts because I'm lazy about doing the math. If that 86.404% is correct (and I believe that it is), it becomes quite inexpensive to cap to all but psi, resistance-wise. -
You *could* do both on a stone, if you wanted...
Code:I don't claim it's a great build, but that's the framework of something that caps out resistances and defenses to everything but psi.| Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1538;721;1442;HEX;| |78DAA594494F136118C7DFE962ED4617642B50A4B283B50D98B81C0C11508426151| |A16B7A6D4918E9499329D18AB07F1A05E3CEAD1E53BA807E347718B7A52E3F20DEA| |B3BC54708E4EDAFFAFFDF7D9E69999666E4E0584D83E2594C0E972A15ACDE70AFA8| |66AFA726AB1A41B6563BD263C428818DBF929F59AAA57D5E4A265E86A7ED2DC34CC| |4EF953462DAB6A724ED3554B2BE6272DAB50DC88CCEA25D554752BB9F3C197358C7| |272B1A2AA5783F471465B2F599ABE1EA56F392852314CAB6069861E216B56BFA155| |B535ADAC59B5E874452B26A70BA655CA670A554B356BED30DD5178BFF50A79D49DE| |29C5388B470CD10F69D619C255C8F34E2E005877807990A3B2E6542C120478A9126| |B8C609BE3640B7284301A72CE0A4021FA0809B1D87DB1418BBBFC2D8227C84008FC| |2019E392AD63A4F68CF1036A0A6570EEFCD0212C2779ED0B4C05824BC8720BFECE4| |E742012E14E0429B502828870BD2703A382199127A41E3845F325E113E41CD88EC1| |D99A31D45797F51DE5F2BEFCF80A06659A8F9A903AD03CF18CF0909B8515A64EF16| |EAAD80D32653DA6A7CC2B7087DB7099FA17787ECDDC14D63DC34C64DE37CD12AD0B| |B93E3DC9DBCDA2E5E6D17EF3BFED581D726FE8DD0FB9DE084F6DDBC76D14D037D81| |7E3DECB87BE29479702FC608BD7BB015C1DD7356E20EA05D1CDA66DC65DC13D8AFE| |F3EE301C184AC7E99D53F401B1A18640C31860983238C51820B661EE2099D433E5A| |D27013C3CFA01379046B1995C5479728736C99B1C258251CBEC0B848780C5949999| |55CA6BBF9C80A639541C5D3BB7410E649C98B9A22A7CBF5EF03346F73B2AEC62325| |1472863186CFEBBF8ED7819D5EDE051F680E258BB2847209E532CA159402CA1A4A1| |1A5FEA6911D3A86031D4739817212A5250CF210233DF894F951022841942694104A| |18A5192586F204A5EE0D37FE17EA3FA086A2EC3EFF9F36E797CDF96D7352B6CD8ED| |89CB4CD99B039E336E7EF46FF00FF005A34| |-------------------------------------------------------------------|

Quote:Oh, probably.I was wondering. If there is a person being obnoxious on voice chat, can you just mute the person in question? I remember playing World in Conflict which has built in Voice Chat. If one on team was obnoxious, everyone else on team simply muted him so we wo'nt have to listen to him.
I was just remembering a thread on the official forums of another game that had integrated voice chat... where the consensus was that you did not have to talk on the voice chat, but you were expected to listen.
That's not something I'm interested in at all, and I can type quicker than I can talk, so... -

Quote:That's my current project... level 31 at the moment.Yup, resistance resists -damage debuffs. On the plus side, this also means that resistance debuffs *increase* the effectiveness of damage debuffs. So if you're a tank with bruising, or a teammate drops something like freezing rain on your target, the debuffs you're laying will be boosted.
I still want to try an ice/km/soul tank... the amount of -dam should be quite delicious, especially given the presence of bruising. -
I'll agree with Rangle - Gaussian's is a wonderful set for Shield tanks to invest in, but if you have Build-Up, put it there.
My shield tank does have Focused Accuracy to slot Gaussian's into - but that's because he's shields/SS, and Gaussian's does not have enough recharge for my purposes in Rage. Likewise, a Shields/DM might want to pick up FA rather than slot Soul Drain with Gaussian's.
Basically - With standard IO slotting on a shields tank, with Weave and Combat Jumping, you need only seven set IOs to softcap. Those are a full set of Gaussian's and a Steadfast +Def IO. The rest of your slotting can be used as you see fit - better recovery, more hitpoints, recharge, or whatever you desire.
With careful slotting, you can obviate the need for Weave and Combat Jumping if you want. -

Quote:It does not qualify as fair use in any way. It's not creating a derivative work, it's just a translation.I have a question about fansubs and scanlations (anime and manga that have been translated from their original language). Would owning any fansubs or scanlations violate copyright infringement since it has been changed from the original form? The process of creating a fansub or scanlation would violate some law since it is changing a product without the permission of the creator, but the fansub or scanlation is a new product.

Quote:That link is, well, devoid of any sort of real information. It's good for what it is, but there are no statistics there, and I wouldn't cite it as a source in this case.
The best numbers I've seen for prison **** put it at about one in ten. It's outside my field of expertise, I will admit. The numbers I have seen for the rates of victimization in prison range from 5% to 25% of inmates. That wide of a variance makes me look hard at those statistics and say, "No one is really sure," but it is significantly higher than that of men in the general population.
I don't say that **** for men is not as bad. I will say that I hate it when people say that "x person should be thrown in jail and meet Bubba," indicating that **** should be an expected part of prison and an integral part of the punishment. That is a disgusting sentiment that has no place in a civilized society.
And, for those who missed the memo, **** is bad, regardless of the victim's gender.
