  1. I sent a ticket for my missing veteran rewards and it was answered with the standard "I am escalating this to a senior GM" message. About two days later, I got a message saying there was an error in the system and that he gave me my badge. =D

Give them any information you can provide (excluding your password of course =P) and just wait a little while. You should have it fixed in no time. =D

Next, Galaxy - Kings - Skyway - IP - Founders, next Galaxy - Hollows - Steel - Talos (etc.) and have a very hard time repeating content. There are contacts I've flat out forgotten about from having so much other stuff to do. I can't say that redside. (And don't get me started on the VEAT "arcs" of 1-2 missions.) i'd hoped unlockables would have helped that, but ... nope.
    My version of blueside...

"Hey, hero. Go hunt some hellions will ya? Oh and after that, go run to the hollows to hunt some outcasts. And when you're done, go hunt some lost too. Oh, have you met the Field analyst? Yeah, go do that. Oh, and go introduce yourself to the PvP informant. Now, go and deliver this thing to mr so-and-so, then he'll send you to hunt some vahzilok in Perez Park solo. Hey, you writing this down?"

For me, redside is much more straight forward. Sure, there are less contacts, but at least they don't send you to run a billion errands before giving you actual missions. I'm a super-hero, not your messenger boy for crying out loud! Send me to kick super-evil-dudes butt instead of making me deliver this stupid package!

Oh, and getting their cell number is a lot easier than blueside.
  3. I must admit that I do fear the release of Going Rogue somewhat. Power is correct, there are a lot less villain characters than hero characters. I hear people complain about City of Villains "garbage-dump" style maps and the lack of content all the time. Most likely my fears are irrational and Going Rogue will do awesome things, but I always have my doubts. Curse my pessimistic attitude!

Personally though, I have plans to move some heroes over to villain side due to character concepts. I do enjoy redside more than blue, even though my main is a Tanker, though I'm worried everyone and their grandmother will move their Masterminds to Paragon because they've been clamoring for it for so long. =/

  5. Are you crazy? Trees are obviously a Nemesis plot! Did you think those green-movements to "Save the Trees!" were just about benefitting the environment? Preposterous! Every tree in the world is outfitted with advanced camera recording technology, and can store limitless data on the people, or heroes, that step near it! The roots of trees are all connected to Nemesis' database, where he can secretly spy on everyone in the world! Nemesis has brainwashed many organizations to form the pro-environment movement, in order to keep his precious trees alive!! He has even used his Alias of "Dr. Seuss" to brainwash innocent children with his book titled "The Lorax!"

Thankfully though, despite the evil that is the Trees, my beloved Sharpie marker is completely devoid of any and all plots of the Nemesis variety!
  6. I can agree to this. We need more dancy-type dances, instead of just bobbing back and forth dances. Though right now the devs are up to their necks in work getting ready for Going Rogue, so I doubt they have much free time.

After Going Rogue, Issue 18: Disco Fever! xD

@Power, Going Rogue is still in the works. Releasing information about a product that isn't finished would not be the smartest idea. Imagine if they said "With Going Rogue, you can also respec into different Archtypes!" and then later, they found out it didn't work. Then they'd have to come out and say "Sorry, we were wrong, you can't switch AT's. Bummer."
That would make for a lot of angry players.

Base Raids have been disabled until further notice. I don't know if you were around during Issue 13, but that Issue drastically changed PvP. I don't even know if your toon is viable for PvP anymore. Base Raids will probably be back up once they fix all the problems with PvP.

As for the OP, you cannot respec into different powersets. You have to make another character for that. Balance issues and what-not. Changing AT's would be a living Nightmare. It's also difficult to explain how a Dual Blades scrapper magically transformed into a Spine Scrapper, losing all knowledge of Dual Blades. And how does a super-strong Tanker transform into a low-HP blaster?

Imagine leveling up a Scrapper to level 50, then respecing to become a controller. You're so used to playing a scrapper, that you'd end up not knowing what your powers weak and strong points are for your controller. This would create noob pandemonium, with new players respecing from tankers to blasters and so forth, not knowing how to use their powers and having to drastically change their playstyle to fit the new At/powerset.

In short, you can't do that because it would be potentially game-breaking.
  9. I regret to inform you, but you know those little lint pieces you find in your pockets? Those are actually recorders that Nemesis planted, recording everything you say or do to anyone, and sending it to Nemesis himself!

I am truly grateful though the Mountain Dew is 100% free of all Nemesis plots!

  12. I did the same thing with my "Becoming a Villain" arc. It didn't work out too well.

Unless you have a lot of friends who are willing to try your arc out, I wouldn't recommend unpublishing. Before I remade it, I had about 20-30 something votes at four stars, which took me a while to get. Since I re-made it a few months ago, I haven't gotten a single play. =(

If you have extra Architect slots you're not using, I would publish the new one, but keep the old one. You could have an Original Version, and a New version.
  13. For all of your questions, no matter how stupid you may think they are, there's always Paragonwiki.

Edit: Aww man, Master-Blade beat me to it. =P
  14. My guess is that melee attacks help you to kill stuff faster. Instead of just using blasts, you can use blasts AND melee attacks.

But having never really played a blaster, I can't say. =/
  15. There's probably another Rikti Invasion week coming up, considering the community reps keep posting in specific sever forums with posts like

    "Target found: Guardian
    Destruction: Imminent."
  16. Any Rikti freak who foolishly decides to attack me will have their faces quickly and deservingly smashed into next year. You have been warned.

    That is all.
  17. I don't think it's a bug. I have noticed the high number of boss encounters during lost missions. Some missions I've seen consistently spawn a boss for every mob.

Go play Ashley McKnight's "Collect the Amulets of Corax" mission, and you will see a boss every mob. Although some do come with minions, the majority is bosses. There's even a warning on Paragonwiki.com that warns against the large number of bosses.

    Server Merger...

Considering Memphis_Bill doesn't play on freedom, I figure I'll post this for him.

Why server consolidation is not a good idea.

Welcome to the forum. You have posted one of the oft repeated suggestions, "Consolidate the servers."

    Disclaimer

Yes. This is a cut and paste reply that I keep handy, as well as a quick bit of instruction on how to search. Neither are meant to cause fights or to be insulting. The search instructions are in, not just because forum rules say flat out to search, but to help you and anyone else reading this use the search tool effectively.

The body of the cut and paste reply is the way it is because we've seen these arguments numerous times before. They're a summary of the salient points that come up each time. They are not here to insult you, make you feel stupid or otherwise "bring you down a peg." Instead, they are meant as instruction and information. Please read through the points and the explanation behind them to see the issues that are commonly brought up in response. They may not always match your suggestion 100% - in fact, you may have explained around one or two of them - but they're there for consideration and refinement of your idea.

Yes, I do look forward to the time, with some of these suggestions, that someone not only addresses all the points, but does so exceptionally well. It'll probably be added to the end of the cut/paste reply, with credit. For now, though, read and consider the points. They really are just there to help you, and move discussion along to help ideas evolve.

If you're going to see this and say an "evil forum vet is just shooting down your idea," or "You think you're the last word because of your post count," you're wrong. Heck, if you say the second, you've just worried more about my post count than I have in the last four plus years. Tongue-in-cheek comments in here are meant as hummor, not put downs.

    TL,DR section.
First, my stock answer, one which I stand by and repeat with all due fervor. HELL NO.

    Searching effectively

    1. Click on "Search" up at the top of the forum.
    2. On the left, under "Forum(s) to search," select "Suggestions and ideas."
    3. On the right, Keyword Search Terms. This is probably where your problem was if you did search. Try the following, exactly as typed:

    +server -pvp -"re: "

This will search for anything with "Server" in the title, including Servers, Combine Servers, Consolidate Servers, and The Server At Mcdonalds Is Rude. it will eliminate "PVP," so you won't see PVP server requests, and the -re: portion of it removes replies, so you'll see the root of every thread that comes up, letting you see just how many threads there are on this. (The last helps for other subjects, as well.)

    4. Click the "In subject" radio button. This is a search, not a cute blonde in a bikini. Here, you want to ignore the body.

    5. Leave Username Search blank.

    6. Date range, Newer Than, change the 1 to a 3, and the time to Months.

    7. Result format doesn't matter. Click on "Submit."

As I try this now, (12/3/08,) we have:
    Consolidate Server
    Server Stats RSS Feed
    $server modifier ofr chat
    Fix the forum server
    Earlyissue server
    Merging low population server
    Combine slow server
    Server status
Global chat on the Character and Server Screens
    Rated M server
Add Ponies, Nerf Vills, merge Servers, PistolMelee
    Server Visiting
Display Central Time on Server Status Page

Ignoring the smartalec reply, that's three full discussions about this topic.

You should have read one of them if (inevitably) something similar comes up in your search.

Now, on to the topic at hand....

Why server consolidation is not a good idea.

    1. Just because YOU like living in New York City doesn't mean I can't like Kansas.

Yay, you love having huge lag spikes as you get near the black market/wentworths and a busy broadcast. Congrats. Enjoy Freedom. Some of us - many of which you will get replies from with this subject - like *low population* servers. If we *wanted* to be on Freedom, we'd *be* on Freedom.

I have characters on Freedom. I rarely play them (and actually moved a character OFF of Freedom to finish leveling it to 50) because *I DON'T LIKE FREEDOM.* I dislike the banality of broadcast, the high percentage of *horrid* teams I've come across there, the lag around any gathering point- and I've got a decent connection and system. For much the same reason, I typically startin Galaxy City instead of Atlas Park - I don't *want* to log in to a costume contest with several 50s spamming powers and nonsense arguments in broadcast.

Some of us *like* nice, quiet servers.

    2, Kansas, part 2.

In addition, servers have their own personalities. No, I don't mean that literally, there's no AI to worry about if you start hearing "Daisy, Daisy" over your speakers or headset. Freedom's a crowded mess. Virtue is the RP server. Pinnacle is the "Drunk" server. Others have specific communities, such as those from Australia/NZ, Europe, etc.

    3. "I only saw one other person. World of Conancraft has eleventy billion!"

    So what?

We don't run around camping spawn points in this game. People are in missions. People are spread across many zones. Search on a map or do a /whoall and you'll miss those in missions, as well as those who are, for whatever reason, on /hide. Your "search" there didn't give you a full picture, not in the least.

I understand the "feel" of things being "not very populated," but take a good look around when you're in game. Typically, you don't really have a lot of visibility. Standing in steel canyon, there could be multiple, full 8 person groups surrounding you, and it's likely you'd never see them. We have buildings, walls, architecture, trees and more limiting our visibility. Yes, it can make you feel more alone... but that's rarely the case. Add to that that the population is spread between many, MANY zones, most quite large, and among two sides... well...

    4. "I put up my LFT flag and nothing happened!"

Learn to search. Don't just wait. Form a team yourself.

    5. "I AM SPARTACUS!" No, not any more.

Remember logging in and seeing all those slots? Everyone has those - some buy more than the base 12, you get an extra one each year, you could have a total of 36 on any server. Everyone does. Every one has a character with a unique name. Maybe not a *good* name, but a unique one. Every one has a character with a unique name. Maybe not a *good* name, but a unique one.

Now merge servers. Suddenly, CoolBlasterDude from server 1 is getting merged with CoolBlasterDude from Server 2. Who gets to keep their name? Nobody has been able to answer this with any degree of satisfaction. Add a number? But I am NOT CoolBlasterGuy1. And what if the name's too long? Does the older character keep it? What if they're not as active?

People are *VERY* attached to their names. They are, quite obviously, part of their character.

    6. "This Is SPARTA!" Sorry, Sparta exists already. You are GenericSG 8734 287 9798.

What else has a name? Supergroups. And I can *guarandamntee* that the same name is in use on multiple servers. Sometimes it's 'branches' of the same SG, sometimes it's coincidence. But with *everything* involved in an SG - from its identity and reputation on the server, to everything stored in the database about what it owns, what its base is like and such, this would be a disaster in the making. And no, auto merging them when the servers merge, even if they have room to, is not an option.

This, of course, assumes that they *CAN* move supergroups as a unit. More than likely, it'd just be a mass character move, with bases, prestige, anything stored in bases and all SG affiliations just gone forever.

    7. "I am... where'd Spartacus go?"

Remember all those slots? Well, you start with 1/3 of the available ones. You can buy up to 36 total (24 on top of the ones you get initially.) Now, what do you suppose would happen if you merged two servers, and someone has, say, 20 characters on each? Not unusual. In fact, before those extra slots, I had *filled up* several servers. Do those characters just disappear? Do they move? Free move to another server sounds great, right... well, except you now kick them from their supergroup, remove them from their friends lists and more. This makes for angry and unhappy customers. Or rather, ex customers.

    8. I will play where I damn well want to. And you can too.

And that should be blunt enough. If I want a crowded server, I'll go to Freedom. If I want an RP server, I'll go to Virtue. I do NOT want to be shoved onto another server I *don't* like. If I wanted to go there, *I'd be there.*

If the server you're on isn't "busy" enough for you, you have two options that won't bother anyone else.
    (A) If it's low enough, reroll. You have a ton of character slots for a reason.
    (B) If you don't want to reroll, server transfers are available, and relatively cheap. They also finish fast - you should be up and running and being spammed to join someone's SG on the new server in a few minutes, in most instances. So YOU can go to the server of YOUR choice without screwing ME over.

    9. "It'll free up server hardware for Freedom!" No, no it won't.

Freedom, because of the load it tends to have, already has more resources dedicated to it than other servers. And ALL of the servers have been upgraded multiple times. The servers are not allocated exactly the same. The servers that handle less of a load have less dedicated to them. So this argument doesn't fly.

    10. DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Last but not least (at least until better points come along to be added,) server consolidation is widely viewed in the industry as an MMO going on life support. No, we don't have WoWs numbers (and you should actually pay attention to when and how they got those.) They're an abberation in the MMO industry. COH has had and does have a very successful, sustainable population even at its lowest points, so there's no economic need to combine anything. The flip side of that, of course, has been suggested above - you crowd people together, break up their SGs and friends lists, cause characters to go missing and poeple definitely *will* quit, both out of annoyance and a sense of "The game is almost dead!"

    In conclusion....

As stated before, when it comes to server consolidation... HELL NO.
Credits to Memphis_Bill for writing this.

    Bugged Synapse

I believe I've seen this bug before, although it was on different Task Forces. Seems like some new Task Force bug has showed up.

Did anybody quit or disconnect? Did the leadership change? I heard of it happening after somebody disconnects and the leadership gets changed.

You can farm AE all day long if you want too. The problem isn't farming. People do it all the time, it's not against the rules, and it doesn't break anything. The problem was just the exploits. People getting to level 50 in a matter of hours? Exploit. People playing missions over and over for tickets? Perfectly fine. It fits in the Risk/Reward factor.

Plus, if you can solo a mission set for eight, then that's fine too. If you can survive, then you deserve the rewards. You're not cheating in any way, you've just become really good at the game to be able to tackle harder missions.
  22. Wow... just wow. This thread is making me laugh from the sheer ignorance of the OP. Your arguments are totally invalid as others have already pointed out, yet you still hold to your delusions.

Also, you can drop the act, since we pretty much know that Heismann is your second account. Same writing style, same random complaints, and the fact that you registered today just to post in this thread.

  23. Smash_Zone

    Risk vs Reward

Changing your difficulty to something higher will yield more XP and Influence due to more enemies/higher level enemies. However, the drop rate is the same no matter what level the enemies are, so Recipes and Salvage will still drop at the normal rate. But if you set the difficulty to something like x4 players, you will get more chances at getting drops from enemies, because there are more mobs to defeat. Level is irrelevant.

If you are the leader of a team, your settings will affect your missions if you choose to do them. If you do another player's missions, his difficulty settings will affect the mission, and not yours.

As of now, Task Forces and Trials have their difficulties locked at +1 level, with the spawns reacting to the number of players on a team. The leader's settings will have no effect on the Task Force's difficulty.

People will always farm. It will never stop. You could take away all rewards entirely, and people would still find something to farm for. (Okay, not literally, but you get my point.)

But if we view Radio/News as the standard for which other content should be judged by. And Im not saying its right or wrong, just in my experiance, the most common method of leveling for pugs in news/radio.
Simply because it's easy and convenient. Some people want their mission NAO. Instead of trekking back to the contact to get another mission that could possibly lead you to another zone, why not have a quick-and-easy mission in the same zone you're in?

Of course, radio/news missions aren't worth as much XP as regular missions, due to them being short, but they're are very useful for PuGs.

    Quote:
If you write a story arc, chances are your rewards are going to fall under this bar, if you use custom mobs, way under this bar.
Boo-hoo, you don't get uber XP NAOS! It is entirely possible to write a good story with a custom group and still receive decent Experience.

    Quote:
So exactly what are the devs trying to accomplish at this point. They havent put much of a dent in farming arcs, and now the general populace is unhappy with AE.
You tell us that "They haven't put a dent in farming arcs" yet you're here complaining
and whining about how AE gives no XP. You're contradicting yourself with your comments here.

And also, what are you basing your so-called facts on? The way I see it, AE is getting more and more popular each day. We have our very own developer Dr. Aeon making new contests for us and picking new dev choice arcs for us to enjoy! I've been seeing more people in AE lately. Just because the room isn't a lag-fast like it was in beta doesn't mean nobody is using it.
