Scientific Theory, redside, three bids in a row:

1,100,000
1,101,000
1,111,111

I can understand (and empathize with) a lag issue causing a typo, but seriously? Wow.

All I see is that the price seems to be dropping :P

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

I do see stuff like that a lot. One tries 1 mill and doesn't make the purchase, and fishes to see if they can bypass the arbitrary amount above it may have been placed without jumping to 1.5 or 2 mill.

I myself routinely add a one to all my bids. many, many a time I would bid an even number (1000 lets say) and fail to purchase, but then adding one (1001) does.

I think what the OP is getting at is how expensive the salvage is. It's a piece of Common salvage, I find it all the time with random drops, so why is it so expensive?

Also there are folks that buy as many pieces of a particular common salvage)that is running a bit scarce), and they repost them for a much inflated price.

This too.

Critters in BNY mission only dropping Arcane?

You would think that folks would be getting thier fill by now and moving back to a mix of regular foes, resulting in a more even spread of Tech/Arcane salvage.

In the meantime, if I see Common Tech going for that much and needing some, I'll go roll Randoms at 8 AE tickets a pop.

Now that AE is here, there's absolutely no excuse to pay those prices if you're offended. Not even "I waited 5 minutes and it din't fill!"

... I waver back and forth between offended and not, depending on my mood. Like if I just collected inf from buying recipes on the spot for half a million, crafting, and selling for 10 million, I'm often feeling ebil and generous.

Yeah, I've seen them go for some crazy prices recently.

Could be someone with two accounts messing around even, corner the market, sell a few to yourself for a million and then see if anyone buys the next one for half a mill in a hurry?

Whatever the cause, if you're a billionaire and dont want to wait five minutes, good luck to you. I've paid some atrociously high prices for the odd piece of salavge here and there just so I can get back to playing - its not like theres much else to spend the influence on beyond having whatever enhancements you want.

One time I bought a full tray of Lucks for 1 million each.

I should have known something was up with that guy...Mender Roebuck is an anagram for 'Become Drunker'!

But that wasn't the real reason. I needed a full tray of lucks so I could make a 1/3rd tray of Catch a Breaths.

Yeah, sometimes I think they're on drugs.

I was setting up to craft a bunch of Steadfast -knockbacks (or maybe it was the Karma's) last night and needed a bunch of salvage. One item showed the last five ranging from 25,000 to 40,000 influence with 1500 for sale and 3 bidding. Give me a break. I put in my bids at under 2,000 and went to take care of something else before I logged. One bid filled before I logged out and I'm sure all will be filled by the time I log on tonight.

Yes, I will routinely buy recipes costing millions (or tens of millions) but I refuse to be gouged for an extra 38K on common salvage. That's how I roll!

I foolishly forgot to get screenshots this week-end, but I sold 4 Sci. Theories blueside for a combined 11.6 million. Listed them about 2 months ago, and finally sold them this week. One went for 5M, one for 3M and the other 2 for nearly 2M each. Ever since I learned from complainers in this forum that sometimes people are FORCED to buy these salvage for over 1 million, I felt I should help them.

Awesome, I thought I was the only one. It's amazing (and somewhat stupid) how much time I'll spend trying to save 10k on a piece of salvage for a recipe that cost 20mil.

I'd rather pay a million then walk to the AE building and roll a bunch of tickets.

To be fair, though, this will vary with circumstances. As a specific example, I was crafting most of a set of Luck of the Gambler (and other stuff) and miscounted and was short by one salvage item. I had to exit the base and go back to Wentworth's. Under those conditions, I don't care what the price is and I would easily pay a million influence for a Simple Chemical, Boresight, whatever.

Oh! I'm sorry for leaving you hanging...

You see, I needed to buy 2187 Lucks at 1 million each so I could make 729 Catch a Breaths so I could make 243 Insights so I could make 81 Respites so I could make 27 Sturdies so I could make 9 Break Frees so I could make 3 Awakens so I could make 1 Enrage.

My Assault Bot has very refined tastes and will only accept Enrages worth the inf cap.

If I am selling multiple stacks of the same items I will always price the two stacks at different prices, so the lower priced one will go first and free up a slot sooner.

I also often put "suffixes" on buy prices to know if alt bought something like xxx105 is Debbie Dualblade's buy where xxx110 is William the Wolfboy's buy. Its not always right, but often I can tell when A character gets an item. Plus adding a little bit will put your purchase ahead of others. if a hundred people are offering 100,000,000 for something and you bid 100,000,001 you get it. Adding 110 or 105, gets in front of the +1 bidders.

If I see something selling for 10,000 solidly, I will bid 10,000 + plus a signature value to get next one. Then no mater what character I am playing I can tell, if I got it. if they are back to selling at 10,000. I know I got one.
