Unpublish or Not?
I did the same thing with my "Becoming a Villain" arc. It didn't work out too well.
Unless you have a lot of friends who are willing to try your arc out, I wouldn't recommend unpublishing. Before I remade it, I had about 20-30 something votes at four stars, which took me a while to get. Since I re-made it a few months ago, I haven't gotten a single play. =(
If you have extra Architect slots you're not using, I would publish the new one, but keep the old one. You could have an Original Version, and a New version.
Arc ID: 348998 - Becoming a villain
Arc ID: 373341 - To Save a Hero
Got Inf?
I'd say keep it up. Plays are harder to come by these days, no point in tossing them out.
If you have to work on it in shifts, so to speak, change the description the player sees in the MA window to something like "under construction, please try again later". I usually publish arcs before it's quite done with such a message just so I can earn some tickets during the inevitable and long testing phase.
Then again if you're majorly reworking it, some might complain this is a tad unscrupulous since it might not be "the same arc" anymore. You have to make that call... if it were me and I was just refining the arc to try and make it more of what I wanted, closer to what I was trying for the first time, I'd keep it up.

(In case you haven't heard, 4 stars is also a sort of kiss of slow death - not because your arc is junk but because there's a lot of five star and dev choice etc. arcs out there that a random peruser will probably jump on before they reach the 4 star category. Every one of my arcs is at four stars and unless I get someone here to try it, I almost never get players either. :P)
They really need to change the Search UI, it just looks old and stale with the same Guest Author and DC arcs hogging the first page all the time. It also isn't fair that an arc with hundreds of plays can be buried dozens of pages behind an arc with only a couple plays just because it's star average is slightly higher by a decimal point.
I'd like to see the search changed so that when you open it the first page would be a random selection of something like: 1 Guest Author, 1 DC, 1 HoF, 3 5-star arcs, 3 4-star arcs, and a few arcs that were published in the last 7 days regardless of their rank. That would make it easier to find some new stuff just by glancing at the first window.
Well thanks for the advice. I'll keep it up
I'm doing a total revamp of one of my arcs, it currently sits at 4-stars (22). That makes me unsure about whether to take it down for the moment considering every mission is being drastically changed because it took a while to get those stats.
Advice?
