If I'm missing something obvious, I want to know about it

Yeah, you want to maximize DPE. Calculate DPE (Damage Per Endurance) numbers for all your attacks, using reasonable assumptions on the number of targets for AoEs. Then figure out the optimal chain using the attacks with the largest DPEs (the same you do using DPAs to figure optimal DPS chains) as often as possible. This is the chain that will give you the best amount of damage per endurance point spent. Which is another way of saying that it costs the least endurance per point of damage dealt.

Of course, that chain will assume a certain number of targets hit with your AoEs, so you'll actually need three or four chains, each optimal for a certain number of targets. And you'll have to switch on the fly as the number of targets decreases.

As for tricks to boost your actual DPS/EPS ratio (which is what DPE essentially is), look at ways to reduce end costs (Conserve Power) or boost you damage (Assault, Build Up).

Finally, there's ways to increase your end recovery, which means a reduction to your net end loss(up to now, I've talked only about your brute end loss). Stamina is the obvious choice here, but powers like Power Sink and Consume have the similar effects.
2. I'm confused... are you trying to minimize the EPS of a chain or maximize it's DPE?

I think another key point for Tech origin is the question "Are my gadgets unique?" The tech used by the SoA are generic, in as much as they get mass-produced for Arachnos forces.

Similarly, the Iron Man suit is unique in that only Tony Stark has the know-how to make it. Batmans gadgets aren't unique in that way.

Reading this, I suspect that yours is a problem of perceptions and expectations. Partly, I suspect, due to the excellent solo play of a low-level blaster. But that ability never extends past level 25 or so.

Expecting all Blasters to be able to solo as well (or near so) as your average Scrapper is a mistake. There are, however, a good many powerset combinations that can match up to Scrapper in terms of speed and survivability at "normal" difficulty levels. Arch/Em hoverblasters and Ice/Elec blappers are two combinations I have personally experienced to a sufficiently high level as to be able to say that they can solo almost every bit as well as my DB/SR Scrapper. I'm sure other people can suggest others. I've heard excellent things of Sonic/EM, for instance.

And on to the original topic:

For me, it's Shout in Sonic Blast. I have no idea why, but every time I've rolled a Sonic toon I've got to the level I picked Shout and promptly abandoned the character. The sounds, the animation, the seemingly eternal root time... eurg. Not that I'm saying it's bad power. I have no idea as to how much it may or may not rock. All I know is I can't stand it.
5. Attacks. Any attack, hit or no hit. You can use PBAoE attacks to build Domination out of combat. I think mezzes are supposed to build more than regular attacks, but I'm not quite sure on that point. I'm fairly certain that ST attacks generate as much as AoE.
6. I love my Fire/Thermal. Very, very complete combo. You can do pretty much anything: Buffs, debuffs, control, heals, damage; the works.

Quote:
My only criticism of Thermal is that with so many useful powers, it is extremely busy to play effectively. There's no such thing as downtime. You're always buffing/shielding/healing teammates, in and out of combat, and sometimes that can make your primary feel a little neglected.

It's a very fast-paced, multitasking style of play, much more intensive than, say, the scrapper style of "Find biggest enemy, Kill, Repeat." You need to keep an eye on your teammates heath, their buffs, and of course, the actual action going on. Personally, I find it kind of exhausting, and not always that kind of demanding play experience I want from CoX. However, played well, a good Therm is an Empath and Sonic rolled into one, and can make just about any team nigh Godlike.

Plus the powers look pretty sweet. Except for Melt Armor. :-/
Very true about the busy part. Between the Shields and Forge you're busy out of combat and Flashfire/Melt Armour/Fire Cages/Heals/APP Attacks keep you busy in combat. Very involved playstyle.
7. As Gaidin says

/em WhistfulSigh
8. The OP specified that he wanted to tank for his friends with this scrapper. Hence the /invuln recommendations.
9. The Wall in northern Cimerora is always a fun place to let off some steam. Might have to share it with other players though. Another fun place if you want a challenge is the Storm Palace, deep in the Shadow Shard.
10. Sounds decent. Dark/ adds survivability to /Elec, and /Elec covers some of Dark/'s lack of AoE. Enjoy never running out of Endurance.
11. Skipping Focus yea-NO. Skipping Focus is a terrible idea. Taking Focus at any level other than 18 is merely a bad idea. What I mean by this is that Focus is awesome. Take it. Love it. Whisper sweet nothings to it as it obliterates your enemies.

Other than that though, it looks OK. The general idea for /invuln is to stack up typed defence and recharge. Claws doesn't need much +rech to be awesome though. I'll put something something together later, as I seem to have lost my old Claws/Invuln build...
12. So that's like 4pm GMT? Awesome.

After a couple of days of markeering I'm inclined to agree. It is, overall better than the old one, and rather more intuitive. If they fix that handful very irritating "quirks", I dare say that it will be vastly superior to the old one in pretty much every way.

Maybe it's because the Well of Furies and Pandora's Box are from a Western culture?
15. Claws/Invuln, definitely. I've played the combo to 38, and it's very solid. Tough, kicks plenty of ***. Very little end trouble. Squishy for the first... 20 levels or so, and has to watch out for elemental damage till about 30. Solid combo, overall.

@Shred Monkey: Try using Legacy Claws combined with the Large Robotic gloves. I have that on my Claw Brute and it looks a good deal chunkier than your average claws.

This. It needs to be done yesterday.
17. Personally, I'd take out the two BotZ in CJ and put them in Parry. You're going to be using it every 10seconds anyway, so slot it into a decent attack. Worth losing .63 E/NE def over it, and you might be able to wrangle another +regen or +hp bonus out of it.
18. More alternate animations, god yes. Especially for the blast sets that pretty much use nothing but 'thrust hand forward'.

Quote:
Alternate animations for Assault Rifle. I want the popout guns that the PPD hard-suits use sometimes. The guns that pop out of their arms and back. Those things are awesome. If we could have something similar, heck, for all kinds of powers (but Assault Rifle could use something special to spice it up), we wouldn't need a special Power Armor powerset.
This would win forever.

Quote:
Oh, heres another one for the 'alternate animations'; two handed animations for swords, axes and maces. Along with right handed and single handed options for Katana. Katana has always bugged me in that its the ONLY set in the game which is left handed. For no good reason. Its really wierd.
As would this.

And somebody mentioned having NPCs that fight each other ACTUALLY FIGHT EACH OTHER. That would be great too.

Don't really care about animated hair.
19. So I just came back after 6 months of absence. Some cool things happened. Ultra Mode is neat, even if I can only halfway run it, mailing inf became a reality (**** YEAH!). Some sad things happened, like BotZ getting the nerf hammer and Regen Tissues becoming immune to enhancement.

And then other things just... happened. Case in point? The new Martket UI. I've only used it for a few hours so far, but I don't think it's actually better than the old one. It fixes a whole load of things that sucked, but then broke other things in new and interesting ways.

The main things that really needs fixing is the amount of inf to bid/offer area and the number of items area. Having to click, backspace the previous amount away and then retype the new amount is tedious. Why don't they work like the search field? One click, start typing.
20. Depends on what your preffered style is, really. I've only managed to get two Blasters past the teens:

Arch/EM. I play this as a hover blaster, flying around and making my enemies resemble hedgehogs from afar, laughing at how their feeble attemps to meelee me just bunch them up for AoE carnage. The only meelee attack I have is Bone Smasher, because I think it looks absolutely adorable when done while hovering.

Ice/Elec. Blapper, with heavy ST focus. Render all enemies absolutely unable to do anything. Then punch them. Hard. Perhaps plays more like a Dominator than a Blaster, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Melee sets have a lot of variety in their damage boost powers (BU, FU, Rage, Soul Drain, along with AAO and FE). I'd like to see some of that wander over to the fairly standardized ranged sets and give us some variety. I'm secretly hoping that DP will have a power like this.
Same here. I think a FU-style attack would fit Dual Pistols very nicely, as from what I've seen, it looks like the claws or DB of the blasting world.
22. I honestly don't see /rad on MMs doing much of anything /traps isn't doing already.
23. He means that when you export the build from Mid's, you should check the "Export Data Chunk as well as Data Link" box and select "phpBB / Zetaboards" option under Formatting code type.

The reason for the first thing is that it lets you put you build from the forums into Mid's, which makes looking at the build much easier. The second thing makes the build in the forum post not look like this:

[color:#4FA7FF]Level 38: [color:#B3CAF7]Stealth

And intead more like this:

Level 38:
Stealth

Which is a lot easier on the eyes. ;ยท)

I'm pretty sure it isn't. Otherwise my Nin/Nin Stalker wouldn't have a much easier time fighting them over my SS/WP Brute. I've never looked at the combat spam to see if it has a hit check though. I'll go do that.

According to the wiki, Psychic Visage is the end drain power. So yeah, not autohit.
