I have a funny story about purples.

I was on a 8 man team a year or so back, and had never gotten a purple drop. So Im on my lvl 50 fire/rad troller doing the majority of the work for the "team" which of course was me and one other 50 basically clearing the whole map for a bunch of lowbies to get them some levels.

I was in a foul mood (as usual) and was griping about how I had never gotten a purple, and how much the RNG hates me. So this lowbie on the team pipes up with ..."oh purple? you mean like these?" and proceeds to link 3, yes 3, purples (all hecatomb or apocs) in the chat window and tells us those are what has dropped for him during the last 2 runs...

He was on his first character, and was just a random who asked for a team in PI when we happened to need one member... he didnt even know what purples were or anything.

So.Effing.frustrating.

Yeah. I kicked him.

And damn if it didnt make me feel better.

So the moral of the story: shut your big fat mouth if you are on my team and get a purple drop, cause I probably didnt get one, and I probably did all the work, and yes. Yes I am a bitter, mean man.

I wouldnt know, I solo about 95% of my game time.

But when I do searches, seems to be fairly consistent to number of players online as it was before i16.

Protector (my home server) has always been a fairly small and loyal playerbase server, so I dont think it was hit too hard by players leaving due to changes to the game.

I think Freedom has certainly undergone a dip in population, and if anything, Virtue seems to have remained equal or even grown slightly, so the top population servers might have changed more then the middle/low ones.

For me there is only one answer:

Super Speed.

And not really because of the travel power itself... but because to get it (without being a 60 month or whatever vet) is to take HASTEN first.

And Hasten is quite simply one of the most powerful powers in the game.

But wait, theres more... Super speed also comes with fast movement speed base, and the awesome -perception/threat (stealth), which makes it incredibly useful to stack with a stealth IO for PvE invisiblity.

Yes. Now you too can finish tedious tasks in mission arcs by invisibly running to glowies and final boss rooms. You know you want this.

If that wasnt enough, Super speed also stacks with your inherent power sprint to make travel even faster without slotting! That means less slots for speed increase enhancement, and more slots to use for universal travel IOs! This gives me a 20% slow resist on all my characters with a winter's gift IO slotted in the default slot for SS, and with my handy dandy stealth IO in sprints default slot, I am ready to roll. Yeah, I roll under the move speed cap that way, but its plenty fast enough IMO.

But regardless of all else... theres one reason Super speed is the best travel power in the game...and that reason is Hasten.

If you need vertical just use your flight pack or jump jet from mayhem/safeguards.

First off, Thanks Pep for organizing this event- it was good times!

The Peregrine2 crash pretty much halted the event, but I hope a good time was had by all.

I would love to see this become a regular occurance, count me in for next time if we decide to get one going again.

I encounter this frequently.

I usually just switch it up for awhile and refrain from logging in at all for a few weeks/months.

I sometimes will get to the login screen, and i randomly click on characters, not wanting to play any of them, for about 10 minutes before I realize...its time to do something else for a while.

I started playing this game the day it came out, but my account is still only at 48-50 months I think due to several longish unsubs. The time away made me realize the things I do love about this game, and gave me time to do other things to clear my head until CoH came back into the picture.

Nowdays I limit my playing to about an hour a night two or three days a week, unless theres a new issue, or something special to do in game. That seems to keep me from burning out totally.

The hardest thing for me was when most of my global friends quit. That made it hard to find things to do in game without soloing all the time. I'm still struggling with that one.

But in summary, I think the old saying "absence makes the heart fonder" is correct in this case. Take less time in game, and you appreciate more the time you do spend there.

Seriously though, when I play my DDD, I never expect much thanks- most people dont realize how much darks do for a team, and just say "nice heals" to the aura rockers.

I remember when this mission was unofficially stupid. I'm glad its finally gotten some recognition by the devs and made "officially" stupid.

Because, you are right, it is.

I wish I could redo my ice/em tanker... into something much less sucky then /em.

Or they could, you know, make /em less sucky in which case I wouldnt have to redo him.

Kind of like when I made him the first time and got him to 50...you know, before /em had so much suck.

How you slot it depends on what set bonuses you are going after.

For recharge slot 5 doctored wounds (all but the end/rech) this gives you capped heal, around 88% rech, and decent end reduction. This set gives a small heal boost bonus, and 5% recharge bonus.

For Hp bonuses slot 3 numinas/3 miracles (Heal/rech, end/rech, Heal/end/rech Numinas) (Heal, heal/rech, end/rech Miracle) this should give you capped heal, capped rech, and nearly capped end reduction and set bonuses are 2.5% rec, 2x 1.88% hp bonuses, and a 12% regen.

If you dont care about bonuses, frankenslot lots of heal,rech, and end reduction with mismatched sets to cap these attributes.

Doctored wounds is my default set because its cheap and easy to find, plus gives that nice little recharge bonus, but once I move onto final builds I many times have too many 5% recharge sets (rule of 5) so I reslot my heals for HP bonuses.

Bottom line: you cant go too far wrong with capped heal, and near capped recharge and end reduction on this power, so youll want 5 or 6 slots for it.

lol... i cant even see the damn game anymore in between all my power trays/chat windows/accolade powers/attribute monitors/map/nav bar/target bar... etc.

I think my actual window for playing the game is about the size of a postage stamp.

Be careful what you wish for: the devs gave us so much QoL goodies that I cant even see the game I play anymore through all the add ons!
