If the idea was for me to make a team-centric build where I would forego my personal powers for more team support powers and slot team powers more than personal ones... Forget about it! That ain't gonna' happen. I'd never use such a build, because I didn't sing into this game to play that sort of character. I respect the good people who DO, but that's not my thing.
It certainly sounds as if you've made your decision (though, to be honest, reading the first page of this thread made me think that you'd made that decision already and were simply seeking validation).

    Good luck and have fun

This was going to be my answer. Simple and effective, imo. I use it so that I can be happy solo'ing with my MMs and so I don't cop an inordinate amount of crying on teams.

    I need to vent!

Oh, and I agree with others that said that while the player's behaviour was probably sub-par, their absence did not benefit your team. Yes, you were spared their tells, but you could have done that by leaving them on team and putting them on ignore.

Whatever lack of beneficial participation you and/or the others perceived the person to display was gone along with everything else they were doing on the team (and by your own admission they were doing things that they thought were helpful or intelligent).

Expectations are a wonderful thing; held by so many, and rarely are they complimentary.

However, this absolute statement is not correct, as I will always attempt to heal and buff on my MMs (e.g. I never give Painbringer to my henchies when I'm on a team). However, with a full set of other powers, I don't always do it constantly. I will try my best, but can't guarantee that I'll keep you buffed and/or alive.

I wish I was that good to control (and I mean, control, not set in bodyguard mode and expect the henchies to control themselves) six creatures with suspect AI (the henchies, not the team), debuff, heal AND buff seven other people, but sometimes I'm just simply human.

My point? There are very few absolutes in life, or this game which we go to in the hope of having fun.

Back to the point of this thread - there's a reason I removed all my purple IOs off my first /kin corr and set a bind up for SB - it's the only thing people give a damn about, and has this unnerving secondary effect of reducing people to whinging toddlers if it's not cast at a period that they consider acceptable. Sure, I regularly use Transfusion, ID, Transference and FS on my /kin characters as well, but I make damn sure that I get SB out to everyone regularly - I'd rather that than listen to the constant din of unsatisfied souls.
  5. My friend, although he runs RSFs like an expert, will love this change, I think. However, it has always been an annoying element of RSF, so I think everyone will love this change.

    Thanks, devs

    New Mids' Update

Thanks for the hard work the team puts into this application. It's amazing that this is done on a volunteer basis - proves how many good people there are playing this game

    C'mon people, get with it!

    While this is said tongue-in-cheek, it's a sad thing that's it's true
  9. Oh, and I have no idea what will reap the best xp and rewards over time - sorry, but I'm not that knowledgeable
  10. I don't know whether the 'bug' will be fixed in time, but I doubt it (if I were able to log in I could check that), which means AE wouldn't be any more than it always is.

I'm sure they'll be a ton of teaming over most servers, in proportion to the populations they generally have (that is, Freedom will most likely have the most teams simply because it is the most populated server most times).

The 'Australia' channel seems to have a lot more people shouting out SF/TF/etc lately - if not, you could always organise something (be a leader, it's not like you need any special qualification)

I was going to mention how the theme of the OP has been done more than once on the forums, but I got distracted about the terminology tangent. I'm constantly amazed at the modern use of language - well, more completely baffled than 'amazed', actually
  12. This won't be a problem for me as I'll be (a) in Mercy and (b) playing off-peak

  14. One thing I find interesting about the ATI/Nvidia debate is that I've owned both and found Nvidia to be much better.... but only when I don't follow the thread in the tech forum and change the Catalyst and in-game settings. If I leave both at their defaults, then my play experience is not great

Like others would be, I'm eagerly awaiting i17 and what improvements it's going to bring to running the game on ATI.

Interestingly, though, upon installing Windows 7 on my PC I kept cursing when I was running Co* and couldn't alt-tab (I had to alt-ctr-del and then force the other window to focus). I changed to an Aero theme the other day and, amazingly, I can now alt-tab perfectly. I don't know the technical reason why it's playing nicely now, but I'm just happy it is

I noticed something that I've never noticed before at the NCsoft Co* store - Nvidia is gone and ATI is shown. It's probably been that way for a long time, but I've only just noticed it.

    New to game

Welcome to what is, imo, a brilliant game and community.

I can't really build on what others have said, as I think they've said it all (or at least pointed you in all the right directions to do some research yourself). This game isn't 'hard' - sure, it has mechanics and systems that you will learn if you put your mind to it (or simply stick around long enough), but largely you can play it without much difficulty.

I'd strongly suggest you go to the places other forumites have mentioned. I have no problem helping someone new to the game, but when I'm expected to spoon-feed them I get annoyed. This is just a personal thing and may not be representative of the player-base. The reference sources you've been given will, quite honestly, answer most (if not all) of your questions (including, in some respects, spoon-feeding you as paragonwiki.com does in relation to where the badges are for accolades, with pictures!).

Anyway, I hope you have fun. Remember to try all the archetypes, join teams, join task/strike forces and generally experience what this game has to offer (both in terms of gameplay and community).

Whilst I strive to be polite (or at least civil) in most things I do, I'm failing to understand what you'd like me to do. I'm happy to post in the thread you've stated (if I haven't already - must check that), but should I interpret this as it's your perception I've done the wrong thing by posting in here, simply because I didn't say 'yay for animated tails, my first-borne for animated tails!'? If I have offended some by not doing this, I apologise.

Just to be clear, I don't hate animated tails (my shape shifting magic doctor character will get one) - I'm simply saying that on the list of i17 features, it's of the least importance to me. I understand and accept that for many others, it's much higher up the list. That being said, I still wouldn't be crying if it didn't make the list for i17, or run to a competitor's product that has them.

    ....

Well... what if a cut-scene was used to scan the team, see what builds people have, and load them into a queue, so that when you are targeted by the enemy, it takes on your image and hits you with an attack that you have. It targets another player, takes on that mirror image, and attacks that player with something from that powerset?
I quite like this theory - not so sure it'll be implemented soon, but I like it

I want to create a DS MM, so I'm happy to pre-order and unleash it
  19. Animated tails do not excite me much, but the rest of what NCsoft/Paragon is implementing in i17 most certainly does (except Posi TF - being a mainly villain player this doesn't do much for me).

    Keep up the good work!!!
  20. Out of everything (yes, including going to an alternate earth), DS is what I have hungered for (I'm pre-ordering GR just for this set).

I understand the arguments about the perception that it's unfair that it's limited to MM, but with a lot of powerset proliferation MM have really been treated like the 'poor cousins' (usually only 1 set ported where other a/t had 2 or more each time) and haven't had a new powerset since I started playing over 3 years ago (in that time I've seen a few new sets go live for non-MMs, admittedly extended to multiple a/t).

As for the whip, I rarely take the personal attack power on any of my MMs, as they're often very weak (and I prefer to let the henchies do the fighting). I have my two vet attacks, which are often far more useful than the MM personal attack power. I may take it for novelty's sake, but I doubt it at this stage.

Touching on some themes in this thread - I think it's dangerous to speculate on the set based on a signature character's bio. We all know that signature characters powers, while similar in some respects, are not the same as the sets we have available to create characters.
  21. I now see why people suggested substituting kittens and frogs earlier. Whilst it doesn't fit the concept of any of my MMs, it would have made this thread a lot shorter (and less aggressive).

I don't think my nec/dark who summons past 'friends with benefits' would make the transition to kitties so well, but you never know....

I tend to agree with the sentiment of others in the thread - please leave the poor (un)dead horse alone - heroics is in the action the individual takes, and I don't know that a 'heroic' Controller who rips through people with fire controls and imps and such is any more heroic than a MM who basically does the same thing (albeit with a lot more followers and very few, if any, control powers).
  23. I'll be pre-ordering and then buying the upgrade to CE. I don't care about losing the month's game time and I really want a new MM to run to 50.

Still, I'm not happy about the way this has been implemented and think it's confusing at first glance. Whilst I got it after re-reading it (that'll teach me for reading it quickly), I can see how some people were a little muddled over the content of the OP.

Even though I'm not happy about the process chosen, I thank Av and the NCsoft team for keeping the information flowing.

I don't believe it is a part of the in-game storyline.

My only theory is that it wasn't designed with dual builds in mind and fixing this will take (or is taking) considerable development resources (which I imagine are all going into GR and i17).
