Bereit for ready. The other is too complex for my limited German skillz.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks! I just found a german translation for the Robert Frost Poem line... but I'm always a double-checker. (and making sure I even have the right line)
[/ QUOTE ]
Note to self: read the whole thread
Given the context of the poem, it is translated as "Nach dem, was ich von Lust gekostet".
That does sound ok'ish, and makes sense, so you probably want to use that instead. My translation above is more or less direct, and without the context of the whole poem it is taken from:
Feuer und Eis
So mancher sagt, die Welt vergeht in Feuer,
so mancher sagt in Eis.
Robert Frost
<Edit> Though 'gekostet' does work better then my 'geschmeckt' (both mean the same), I still would have translated desire as 'Verlangen' not 'Lust'
*shrug*
The poem is translated in spirit of course, to make it sound nice, and be true to the meaning, and not every single word translated as in the english version.
Then again, I really don't know much about poetry, in either language -
[ QUOTE ]
Well I've been remaking some binds on this character and I guess I could use another language check...
Von was ich vom Wunsch mich geschmeckt habe = From what I've tasted of desire (?)
my altered version of normal Flame's afk chat bind.
And would anyone be able to translate the exclamation 'Ready!'? Unfortunately I don't think a dictionary would work perfectly for me if I don't know the correct use of the word as an exclamation... if I'm even making sense.
Thanks!
[/ QUOTE ]
'Ready!' = "Bereit!", as mentioned above, "Ich bin bereit" (I am ready!)
Von was ich vom Wunsch mich geschmeckt habe = *snicker* That makes no sense whatsoever, does sound funny though
From what I've tasted of desire (?) = "Was ich vom Verlangen geschmeckt habe" or "Was ich von meinem Verlangen geschmeckt habe" (from what I've tasted of my desire) has a better ring to it.
Desire in this context = Verlangen.
That is more or less directly translated, however, I might find a better translation if I had a bit more context. -
You need to keep at least two members total (including yourself), or the TF autdisbands.
In the case of Citadel, invite 5 fillers, kick 4, have the 5th log off that particular character (best get a friend for that slot or 2nd account), and solo it. -
Understandable.
What I would hope though is an expansion of the dual build system, that would allow for true multi builds. You would have the option to switch an alternate true build for your chracter, that can be any AT (faction restrictions may apply, or not with Going Rogue), however, you would have to level the new build normally. So you could be a Scrapper on one build, but a Blaster on the second (but each would have to be levelled through normal means of course)
The benefit isn't huge in general, you could just roll a new character, since you have to level the new build normally anyway.
I would personally love such a feature, simply for story reasons, the background, powers and such of my 'mains' could have gone in a different direction. Sunwind for example is FM/WP Scrapper, but she could have easily been a Tank with the same sets, or a Fire Blaster.
I guess I am a bit old fashioned, I am still attached to the 'having a main character' idea with all what that implies with badges, achievements, roleplaying, social contacts etc., while still wanting do experience different playstyles, just on the 'same' character. The @globalname chatsystem isn't enough for me.
I know some people feel the same, naming their characters similar indicating that is the same character person wise, just a different variation powerwise.
But depending how much Dev time such a system would take, compared to how many people would use it, it is probably unlikely to happen, since, as said, you could just roll a new char *shrugs* -
Only problem I have is the forced Natural origin of my Soldier. The time with Arachnos was only a part of her background, Sience would have fitted better.
Quite often I tend to ignore the Origin though, since I find it too limited. Sure, for some of my character it is enough, for others, not so much.
For example, quite a few of my characters really have a mixed origin. Part of the powers may come from sience, others from a tech gadget or a magic item, or just natural training.
Since the current system can't really reflect that properly anyway, I tend to ignore a bit what it says on the character sheet. -

Thanks for the quick reply.
If this is working as intended, then what is the purpose of level slider?
[/ QUOTE ]
Buying SOs, for example.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, I see.
The slider is actually for the enhancements
[/ QUOTE ]
Not completely. As said above it also determines what recipes are available in a given roll. Say you are lv50, and set your slider to 36-40, and you roll two times, getting a Miracle, and a Crushing Impact. The miracle will be lv 40 (since that is the max level of that set), the Crushing Impact will be lv 50 (since that sets goes to 50 and that is your level). If you would have put the slider to 46-50, you'd never have a shot at the Miracle, since that sets only goes to 40. -

If my memory serves me right, you need the name to be one word, Flammenzauberin.
Can also go with Zauberin der Flammen or Zauberin von Flammen as suggested above.
I think Zauberin der Flammen sounds best.
[/ QUOTE ]
Flammen Zauberin or Flammenzauberin both work (it is a name after all, so there is some freedom there), you are right though, Flammenzauberin would be correct. Zauberin von Flammen makes no sense though, unless Flammen is simply its own name, like "von Soandso". -
I have given up on making alts for quite a while now. I think I have done everything, played every set that interests me etc.
These days, I only play Sunwind, my Scrapper blueside, and Blitzwolf, my Huntsman / Bane redside. Doing story arcs, SF/TF, Hami, etc. -
/hugs
Very nice changes
It is kinda funny though, I noticed some minor endurance issues now in longer fights I didn't had before, sincce I can chain attacks a tick faster now. -

Villain SF>>>>Hero SF
The villains SF is just soo much more enjoyable. If you can't beat it the first time, don't write it off. Just like teams were failing the ITF left and right when it came out, it will take awhile for a stable strategy to develop before this SF can be completed regularly.
[/ QUOTE ]
As it stands my only attempt so far had 3 VEATs, 2 Brutes, a Stalker, a Dom and a Therm corruptor, all played by people who knew what they were doing. Nothing else in the SF posed a serious challenge to us, but we worked on Reichsman for over 30 minutes, and while we cleared the ambushes and kept up a steady steam of damage, it was never enough to actually kill him. His "unbreakable" ability always kicked in, and restored him to 75%ish health. Possibly it would have been different if we'd had a Mastermind to use the temp power intended to shut off Unbreakable, but as I understand it, that temp power doesn't even work correctly at present.
I haven't written the SF off at this point, but I am feeling some frustration. It may be fair to say that we should have brought more debuffs. I'll have to see how things go in future runs.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was on that team with my VEAT. Have to say, it was pretty frustrating, to say the least. It was a good team, with people who know what they are doing, yet we had no chance to beat him. I checked his regen with Surveillance, and during his untouchable phase, it showed 1700hps/s
We tried to work with what we had, and made a tiny bit of headway while we poured every temp we had on him. Once we ran out of Shivans, we lost ground quickly, and every damage we did was regened back during his untouchable phase.
It's not that it was too hard (it was not), we were in no danger of wiping (we defeated the ambushes), and it turned to a very very boring bag of hitpoints we pounded on, only to see our efforts being negated during his unotuchable phase.
Only speaking for myself, I didn't enjoy the final fight at all. It was boring once the ambushes stopped spawning, and a highly unfun encounter. *Shrug* Don't think I bother with it again. I play to have fun, and this SF isn't as it is now -
[ QUOTE ]
But here's a question I pose to anyone with some knowledge of the German language (I have a German background and I know nothing), does Flamme Zauberin sound correct?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, doesn't sound right. Zauberin = Enchantress is correct, but 'Flamme' would have to be in plural to sound right. So I'd go with (Die) Flammen Zauberin
<Edit> "Zauberin der Flammen" would work too. -

Voting for Juggertha. I like the simple style, and the boy looking up is a great touch.

Blitzwolf getting some new googles
[/ QUOTE ]
Love the look!
[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks, now I can't wait for this to go live
Though I was a bit disappointed at first about the lack of pieces (nothing for tights, tops/bottom with skin, no patterns, no belt), the goggles are rather nice and will fit Blitzwolf perfectly, and the change to height/body type are great. -
Seer Marino. And because of her arc, Wretch and Ghost Widow too.
I thought this was a really good story, and despite the Mu being brutal at those levels with their -end -recovery, I do this arc on every villain when they go through those levels. -
Entering Blitzwolf
Game mechanic wise she is a Bane, with the 1st build being a Huntsman, using the rifle and the soldier attacks, her 2nd build is a Bane, using the mace.
Story wise, after looking over your Virtueverse page, there isn't too much I can come with it right away. They could easily clash though when she is on an assignment from Arachnos or Crey for example, which he is sent to stop.
Some background information:
She is a mercenary, a soldier, rough and somewhat ruthless in her job, though not a villain in a classical sense. She does work for heroic organisations such as Longbow and Wyvern as well, since there are times they need someone to get the job done, and not ask too many question.
She was born in 1940, even though appearing not much older then 20. She is the product of an early 5th Column Supersoldier program; her father was an Oberst there. Not much is known about her early days, and she doesn't talk much about it.
She appeared first on the mercenary scene around 1960, and has been in the business ever since, working for various organisations and countrys. She has good tactical and leadership skills, and is trained in various weapons, both ranged and melee. Since her brief work with Arachnos, she has access to their advanced weaponry, favoring the Bane Spider mace and an experimental rifle along with various other gadgets, for example a cloaking device, anti-gravity belt and other things. Even though a freelancer, she still can call in reinforcements quickly from Arachnos (the Spiderbots).
Despite not caring too much for whom she works for, she never works for any organisation like the 5th or Council, quite often she is found fighting against them whenever she gets the option too, regardless of payment, especially against the 5th. Ever since they reappeared, she doesn't hesitate to attack them whenever there is an option too.
As for personality, she is fairly quiet (could describe her as shy even in a social, non combat situation), and doesn't talk much, other then what is necessary for the mission. Used to being alone, she has no known partner. She keeps her private life as well as her past well hidden.
That's a general overview of what can be known about her in Paragon City/Rogue Isles with some research about her exploits. This isn't all of course, but as much as I want to post here -
Entering Blitzwolf.
Though a technically villain (for now, come 'Going Rogue' and we'll see), she is more the mercenary type, and I think she could work with Gray Huntress, depending on the goals. I am sure they'd get along quite well in some old fashioned facist smashing.
Blitzwolf is a Huntsman on first build, Bane on secondary. She is a mercenary though, and her time with Arachnos was fairly brief. She was born in 1940, though appearing not older then early 20, she has been around the a while, working for various Organizations from Arachnos to Vanguard, and Longbow.
It is rumored her father was an Oberst in the 5th Column, and she's a product of one of the early Übersoldier projects. Which could explain her relentless hatred and killing of anything Nazi related. -

An update. a city of character again today that was sugguested early in this threads life. hope you like it!

Very nicely done, thanks a lot -

Remember any of that? Now remember when they introduced a patch that made melee attacks possible to use on moving targets? Yeah, there's your culprit. That's been around a long time. There's a reason why I have always loved Shadow Maul. Now that base attack ranges have been made so laughably massive, using this to your advantage is much, much, much, much easier.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much this, I've been using this ever since the melee/runner change to the game engine. It is just more obvious and effective with the change to 7 feet. -
Nice idea, and good luck with it.
Entering Sunwind, if you feel like drawing her:
Costume reference shots in the tailor
Hovering in Ouroboros -

Willpower doesn't need soft capped defense to kill AV's. My Fire / WP was built to be a solid general purpose scrapper.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, I got about 33%-36% Defense depending on type on Sunwind, and the AV's (5 or 6) I tried were really a non issue.
Not an activity I usually do, since I don't find in very entertaining. For that reason I too have build more for a general purpose, teaming, soloing story arcs, RWZ, TF. AV's are more a stresstest once in a while, to see where I stand, then get back to the playstyle I enjoy *shrug*.
That being said, 30+ Defense, around 2300 HP and a healthy amount of regen, along with a decent attack chain worked for me on the AVs I did. -
1st: Toxic_Shia's recreation of "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci, because it made me smile.
Close 2nd: Projectionist, because its a really awesome looking piece. -

Me too. However, the one that came with the last spawn of Mary, or the one near Doc Aeon on a MoSTF run I could do without.
