It's not an AV killer, at least in the “soloing with no temps or inspirations” sense. It'll do fine helping out on a team.

To solo AVs without temps or inspirations, you “need” a handful of things, including:

soft-capped defense (45%+)
big hit points and/or decent resistance
sustainable endurance use
a decent DPS chain
a heal or crazy amounts of regeneration

Your defense is the biggest problem, though it can be fixed with inspirations. Your second biggest problem is endurance. Yes, I see that you have Quick Recovery, Stamina and the Numina unique. But your net recovery is 2.54 EPS before figuring in your attacks, and I'm pretty confident that your attack chain can burn through that and more, though I haven't done the math to make certain. Again, inspirations can come to the rescue, but there are only so many inspirations you can carry. Might be doable, though.

Basically, if you want to push yourself further, you want to build up your defense. Steadfast protection unique, Gaussian set, and a bunch of other things I'm not thinking of. Mids' will let you look up set bonuses, so that's a good place to start. For endurance, you'll want the accolades, the Miracle unique, and some good sets in the attacks. That'll probably be enough.

I don't particularly find FM to have a synergy with WP. WP is a very strong set, but not that strong. It greatly benefits from a primary with some mitigation (like say, an AoE knockdown like MA or SS) to give RttC some room to do it's job.

Unless you're already level 50 with this toon, I'd recomend investing the IOs in a Fire/SR instead

Do you find that there is a huge difference between Rikti Pylons and an equal level AV (say a smash/lethal one like Shadowhunter), from a survival standpoint? The reason I ask is that I just soloed my first rikti Pylon on a FM/WP that is just lvl 43. Took about 13 minutes I think and was never really in any danger of dying. I am fairly well IOd out, for being lvl 43 (Numina/Miracle/Kismet/Steadfast +3% def uniques), but still have substantial development achievable (Tough and Weave are barely slotted, no Health yet, Only 3 slots in Focused Senses). This scrapper seems to have superior ST DPS than my MA and BS scrappers, neither of which can seem to make much progess on the Pylons.

Is it apples and oranges?

Edit: FWIW, I currently have the Kinetic Combat KD proc IO In Fire Sword, Cremate and Incinerate (along with 5 Crushing Impacts) and find that I get a very gratifying amount of pavement-bouncing from the baddies. Not that this will help me vs AVs, who are KD immune (essentially)

Yes it is, A Rikti Pylons only does lethal damage and it is AoE type too. It doesn't attack much so with /wp you should be able to regen before you get hit again.

With a AV say shadowhunter he as a lot of attack and they are Smashing and he uses them a lot, AV can also hit harder too. So they can hit harder and more ofter so it is going to be hard to stay alive. A AV might be easyer to kill but it is harder to stay alive.

Makes sense. Was kinda what I was expecting. So it looks like I will need to do some tweaking on my DM/Inv if I want to get into the AV hunting game.

Its not an AV killer now, but it can be. As Werner pointed out, defense is key. Focus on sets that offer typed defense (smashing, lethal, energy, negative, fire and cold) Kinetic Combat, Aegis, Eradication are a few that come to mind. Secondary focus should be on HP, Regen and Endurance.

Willpower doesn't need soft capped defense to kill AV's. My Fire / WP was built to be a solid general purpose scrapper. He has around 30 - 32 defense to all types and I am 6 for 6 on my AV fights with no temps or inspirations. I know that perfect streak won't last, but it does show that he is quite capable.

I have a AV killer build on mids that gets his defense to around 40 % but I'll probably never try it live cause I'm pretty happy with him as my "Jack of all trades, master of none" type scrapper.

I agree with BrokenPrey regarding pylons vs. AVs. I can solo Rikti pylons on Werner without using my click powers and without keeping Divine Avalanche double stacked. Most AVs are much more dangerous than pylons in my experience.

And yes, with Willpower, while soft-capped defense is still desirable, it's also very hard to pull off and not really necessary. Willpower has so much else to offer that you can probably get away with less defense. Just keep in mind that at 40% defense, you're getting hit twice as often, and at 30% defense, four times as often.

Thanks MMX. Good tips. I have the endurance covered (even without Stamina) at this point (lvl 43), thanks to the Unique +rec IOs and good end reduction in the single target attacks. I figure picking up the Portal Jokey and Atlas Medallion (or is it the Freedom Phalanx) Accolades should be helpful and Eradication is the planned set for FSC. Aegis for Tough and MoB sounds like a good call too. Looking forward to fleshing this character out. She's a lot of fun and gets the most play time of any of my alts currently.

Agreed, I got about 33%-36% Defense depending on type on Sunwind, and the AV's (5 or 6) I tried were really a non issue.

Not an activity I usually do, since I don't find in very entertaining. For that reason I too have build more for a general purpose, teaming, soloing story arcs, RWZ, TF. AV's are more a stresstest once in a while, to see where I stand, then get back to the playstyle I enjoy *shrug*.

That being said, 30+ Defense, around 2300 HP and a healthy amount of regen, along with a decent attack chain worked for me on the AVs I did.
