Bayani vs. ??? - (Volunteers requested)
oooooh this could be fun. I'll get to thinking who of mine could be fun and post back in later
PMed ya my submission, unless you'd rather I post it here.
I'll throw my praetorian, Flame Temptress (fire dominator), into the mix. I'll have to come back and edit this when I can log in and get some screenies for you. For now I'll just say the costumes are similar to the reference in my DA page, just a little darker.
Edit: There we go! My two favorite costumes.
Hmmm.
Well, Bayani seems like a very straightforward guy. "Deadly" Diana isn't. She misdirects, deceives, uses people, and calls in her 'crew' when she needs extra muscle. Blackmail's a hobby she enjoys which brings in a nice income as well.
(Thus/Poison mastermind.)
Thanks for the entries so far. Looking forward to seeing what else pops up. =)
I don't usually do this, but what the heck: Ms. Belladonna
Bio
Entering Blitzwolf
Game mechanic wise she is a Bane, with the 1st build being a Huntsman, using the rifle and the soldier attacks, her 2nd build is a Bane, using the mace.
Story wise, after looking over your Virtueverse page, there isn't too much I can come with it right away. They could easily clash though when she is on an assignment from Arachnos or Crey for example, which he is sent to stop.
Some background information:
She is a mercenary, a soldier, rough and somewhat ruthless in her job, though not a villain in a classical sense. She does work for heroic organisations such as Longbow and Wyvern as well, since there are times they need someone to get the job done, and not ask too many question.
She was born in 1940, even though appearing not much older then 20. She is the product of an early 5th Column Supersoldier program; her father was an Oberst there. Not much is known about her early days, and she doesn't talk much about it.
She appeared first on the mercenary scene around 1960, and has been in the business ever since, working for various organisations and countrys. She has good tactical and leadership skills, and is trained in various weapons, both ranged and melee. Since her brief work with Arachnos, she has access to their advanced weaponry, favoring the Bane Spider mace and an experimental rifle along with various other gadgets, for example a cloaking device, anti-gravity belt and other things. Even though a freelancer, she still can call in reinforcements quickly from Arachnos (the Spiderbots).
Despite not caring too much for whom she works for, she never works for any organisation like the 5th or Council, quite often she is found fighting against them whenever she gets the option too, regardless of payment, especially against the 5th. Ever since they reappeared, she doesn't hesitate to attack them whenever there is an option too.
As for personality, she is fairly quiet (could describe her as shy even in a social, non combat situation), and doesn't talk much, other then what is necessary for the mission. Used to being alone, she has no known partner. She keeps her private life as well as her past well hidden.
That's a general overview of what can be known about her in Paragon City/Rogue Isles with some research about her exploits. This isn't all of course, but as much as I want to post here
I tend to stay out of stuff like this usually, since I don't consider my own characters to 'match' other people's very well. Especially when they're well known characters, since it feels like both are vying over superiority and popularity in a single pic. But after thinking about it for a while and trying to learn about Bayani himself, I think that there's an opportunity for something more than just a cool piece of art.
I'm of the opinion that 'Massacre' Melanie could serve as an interesting counter point to Bayani in a number of ways, which I'll outline.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Bayani is a hero based on self control and a mastery of himself and his emotions. He's calm, cool and measured, even while having a raging inferno inside of him. His background and the support of the people around him helped to forge him into what he is today. On the other side, Melanie is layers of writhing chaos stitched together with rage and pain. Her power comes directly from the entropy in her very being and the separation of her suppressed and dominant personalities. Melanie was also forged by her own background, but instead of love and kindness, she only encountered abuse and aggression.
* Both Bayani and Melanie are spirits of the flame. Each one has the same combustible forces welling up inside of them, spurning them into action. Bayani chooses to become the master of his element, shaping it and honing the destruction into a fine tool for good. He takes a wildfire and crafts it into a laser scalpel. Melanie is a slave to her own pyromantic desires. The BURN controls her, she only obeys it's destructive power. Melanie chooses to relinquish control to her inner element. She takes a match and ignites it into a firestorm.
* A helping hand from a mentor saved Bayani from possibly spiraling out of control into a well of anger and sorrow from the loss of his love. The support he gained taught him to be a stronger person and to use his strength in positive ways, rather than to harm others. Melanie's 'mentor' took her apart, step by step in an effort to turn a kind hearted soul into a living weapon. She actively despises the people who call themselves 'heroes' because she was never saved from such a fate, herself. Tales of redemption and kindness enrage her as much as they hurt her, stirring up all her old wounds to be raw and fresh again.
* Since Bayani is a martial artist, he has much more control and knowledge of his own internal energies than the average person. He can channel his chi into augmenting his internal and external forces. Compared to the average person, he would be a living reactor of life energy. Melanie is somewhat vampiristic. While she is most definitely not of the undead, Melanie's own internal energies can be used in much the same way that Bayani uses his own. Melanie chooses to use her energies to invoke magical spells and produce her internal fire, but they take a toll upon her. Over time, she has learned to not only sap her opponent's life force, regaining her vitality, but she can directly sap their internal life energy, adding it to her own magical reserves. Bayani would be a feast of beautiful flames in front of her.
* The combat between the two would be interesting, as Bayani is primary a melee martial artist. Perhaps with some ranged attacks and abilities. Melanie physically weak, but has a multitude of ranged and area powers to call upon. Bayani would likely be able to close the distance between then and read some of her attacks, Melanie makes use of active teleportation in combat, as well as invisibility and deception. She loves to 'haunt' her opponents, before finding the perfect opportunity to strike. Bayani would perhaps be one of the opponents most acutely aware of his surroundings, making it much more difficult to stalk him. Though Melanie's madness and chaotic streaks make her hard to pin down as well. A fight between them would likely be a prolonged chase of sorts. Melanie hoping to wear down Bayani to the point where he could be handled, Bayani trying to catch Melanie's mistakes to put her down in a quick melee battle.
* The final point is that their rivalry would be a possibility to be ongoing for a long while. Bayani is mostly impervious to her fire powers and Melanie has all the tools to self heal indefinitely. I can't assume much about his personality or how he would react to her aggressions, though I can assure you that Bayani makes for a fascinating toy to play with. He's skilled in combat, certainly aware enough to see through most of her tricks, a huge source of potential energy to sap, a fellow flame user waiting to have his internal fire exploded into a destructive salvo and a model of the very thing that she hates the most. Someone who not only enjoyed a good life and the support and love of people around him, but who was saved from a self destructive spiral of pain and loss. If anything would drive Melanie to pursue him in an effort to strip him of everything that he held dear, it would be that. To her, Bayani deserves to feel the same pain she does; everyone in the world does.

The Guide to BURN
Are we allowed to vote for other people? If so, I vote for Suichiro. I was gonna try and come up with a story for one of my toons to fight Bayani, but I don't think I could manage to come up with any better reasons than those provided for Massacre Melanie.

...probably
Paragonian Knights
Justice Company
Cool! But does it have to be a villain? Can it be one of my heroes!
I suppose if you could make a compelling case for it I don't see why not.
And still, the only thing that pops into my head is the somewhat charred Paragon City Sunglass Hut wherein a miffed Bayani holds the last pair of Oakleys overhead and out of reach of an indignant Jae who has set his jacket on fire while the poor clerk hides behind the counter..... well I amuse myself at least ;D

Ditto, heh. While I've got somevery developed villains, I don't think any of them 'match' anywhere near as well as Melanie.
Edit: then again, I just saw what Gray had in store, and it makes me go 'ooooh' in a very sinister manner. Of course, that still leaves the question as to whether voting is allowed here.

Characters
My main villain:
Korobeiniki (Mind Control/Psi Assault Dominator), a Soviet psychic super-soldier, covert agent, and nationalist, claims to possess the collective will of the Motherland to unleash his wrath upon those who threaten Her. His psionic and mind control abilities rivals that of even the Clockwork King and is formidable adversary in the field of battle, but every superhero needs a good challenge, right?

Still haven't made any decisions yet but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. ^_^
My Pick. a relatively short biography is in the Artist's comments of the screen shots. Im going to allow the background story to do most of the persuasion.
I think that a fight between Bayani and Mao would be terribly interesting, as they both have Martial art's backgrounds but have polar opposite personalities and powers, as fire is traditionally used to provide light, Mao has mastery over the darkness. Bayani lost he's father, Mao killed he's own father to further he's own status.
I believe that There is the right mix of similarities and Differences to make this an awesome fight, and would make for a great picture. appearance wise there are enough similarities one could almost argue that Mao is somewhat of a Praetorian Bayani (ofcourse he's not but yeah) anyway. I think it would be an awesome choice. the ball's in your court buddy
If I was good at writing stories...I'd love for you to have a bout with my Ice/Elec/Mu Dominator...
*tries to brainstorm*
It has come to my attention that I would like to do a Bayani story with one of my villains--is there a source for all thing Bayani so I can know more about him--so as to effectively write something around him?

There is a link in his siggy to Virtueverse.
I snagged it for you: here
Noted and read--I'll try to work from here.
Thank you.
A few months ago, I put up a thread requesting volunteers for villains to be used in a future commission, and round out an interesting Rogue's Gallery for Bayani. I've decided to change things up a bit and make it a series rather than just a single splash commission. I'm hoping to have the commissions done on a quarterly basis starting in the fall and I've already selected three toons so far and I'm looking for a fourth.
1) Kim Paler (FireBrandi)
2) Blackthorn (Thornster)
3) Mad Butcher (Clobbertime)
4)
5)
Same dealie as before: several screenshots of the character and reasons why he/she/it would be an excellent matchup for Bayani as well as background into why they would battle. The level of the commission will be pretty similar to the more detailed pieces in the "featured" section of my dA gallery. The selection will be based on how solid the background story and character design are so take your time and make a good pitch will run for a few weeks.
