  1. One of my favourite ways to design a character, I must admit...

I have an ex-Nemesis MM, an ex-KoA Blood Widow, the requisite Hellion disguise, plus an attempt at creating a Sky Raider which I'm rather happy with. Pictures to follow after lunch.
  2. Someone, please, tell me I'm not the only one driven up the wall by glowie hunts around the Hell Forge.
  3. Jesus H, what's with the antagonism? I didn't post here to piss you off - I was just offering my reasonable interpretation of the situation. The last CB, mere weeks ago, was announced - I saw no reason the trend wouldn't continue.
  4. I stand by my statement. The downtime was scheduled, the downtime proceeded, but the beginning of the beta hasn't been announced yet. It may still be in the most rudimentary stages with the most select participants.
  5. Closed Beta isn't even announced as having begun yet. Yes, we'd all like to see what's in there, but if complaining about being left out's ever justified, it's certainly premature for it right now.

Pretty sure it's determined by your starting contact. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  7. Gnaarrghh, cognitive dissonance! *brain leaks out ears*

Well, not all Praetorians are morally mirrored. Calvin Scott's still good! Miss Liberty was still good!

I disagree, actually! They're badass spooks, sure - and Indigo is herself the product of side-switching, sure - but they're about the most idealistic badass spooks you could hope to meet. They're not as forthcoming with information as civilian contacts, but they're a lot more forthcoming than they could have been, and they warn heroes when things are going to get rough, and debrief them afterwards. Sure, a tetchy vigilante-type might rankle even at that, I suppose... but it'd be the last straw after 40+ levels of working with law-and-order types.

Yeah, it's not so much "what if good was bad and bad was good?!" as "all these super-powerful people around - what if they were in charge, in a Roman-style empire?" Plus, you know, spiffy updates.
  11. Ahhh, the F-22. Takes me back to playing Strike Commander as a young'n. Well, I tinkered for a little, and here's my first experimental model:

I meant that, redside, they only appear in those arcs. Blueside, they appear in the Shadow Shard, yeah.

  13. Wicked Wendy: The monsters in your second story sound like Storm Elementals. They only appear redside in a few end-game arcs... but if I recall correctly, it is a known bug that they appear in missions they shouldn't. Don't remember the whys and wherefores - anyone?
  14. Super-obscure, and little more than a curious bug, but - the small site office-turned-squat in the Mercy Isle Factory map. Jump or fly into the ceiling, and you'll find yourself emerging from a pool of water. You might even notice a fragment of war wall. As my wife put it, looks like they really need to get their air conditioning looked at.
  15. Yo. I'm from Melbourne, Aus. You'll find me on Justice, blueside with the Hermetic Order of the Gilded Pangolin, redside with the Steamed Punks.
  16. I'm a placid, non-violent sort, and often find myself giving someone a hug and talking them down in a stressful situation.

As my author-avatar Plant Controller, I lock down gangsters and monsters and exhaust them into surrendering.

Kind of like hugging... except with plants!

Yeah, it's a stretch. But I sure couldn't play that character with a sword or fire blasts or whichever.

  18. Well, just to offer an example from my own arcs, not at all definitive: my Neutral arc involves helping the University bug-test their AE Arc. The only opponents are simulated, and the character is renumerated for their assistance. I leave it ambiguous whether it's Paragon or Aeon U that's involved, too. I'm sure the same troubleshooter role could be applied to more dramatic arcs - research firm offers massive moolah to get rare samples from territory infested with monsters, or whatever. No crime-fighting or -committing involved, just rewards for involvement.
  19. I don't have a screenshot immediately handy, but my Widow's first alternate costume is a (fairly close, though I say, who shouldn't) recreation of the Knives of Artemis uniform. Being similarly snugly-fitting yet obviously practical, and even geared toward similar powers to Widows', it was an easy connection to make.
  20. I love Tropes!

I've been working on my list for a while, but he's a quick summary of some of my tropier characters:

Sir Frederick Chook: Author Stand In, Technical Pacifist

The Powered Lady: Wrench Wench, Steampunk

Lord Hubris: Aristocrats Are Evil, Unstoppable Rage, Man of Wealth and Taste
  21. Then, a brief period of experimentation with Mercantilism - in order for you to earn XP, someone else to lose it! Nothing could go wrong with that!
  22. Blueside may have been ranching; redside, with its small, scattered spawns and craggy terrain, only allows for herding, alike to the traditional practices of the inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir.

(Issue 13, with its Day Job rewards and Patrol XP, provided wide-open spaces where rewards could be consistently harvested, allowing for groving as well. By, you know, grovers.)
  23. If you reverse "power proliferation", and jumble it up a bit, you get "prole powerfication". As in "all power to the proletariat". Could this be a hint at time-travelling Soviet Superheroes appearing to oppose the Vth Column in I15?

    Natural heroes

I actually think fire powers work well for a Natural. Wrist-mounted chemical sprayers, petrol bombs... just tailor your costume so it shows you've got room for all that (for instance, the robotic arms with the tubes on them make good dispensers.) And don't forget eye, nose and throat protection!
