When playing other games-- not just MMOs-- you might notice that you have some interaction with your character and the mouse.
For instance; the arrows used to turn the character in the costume creator? Can we either get rid of those, or just include the addition of dragging your character via the mouse?
Second, when scrolling through the different choices of costumes in the creator, it would be nice to be able to use the scroll wheel instead of having to highlight the arrow leading up or down.
These are (hopefully) simple QoL features I'd like to see that I'm sure would split the game apart, destroy the servers and bring utter anarchy to the game as we know it if implemented. Thank you for reading. -
Where City of Heroes differs from City of Villains so much in my mind is that the Rogue Isles has so few memorable villains. You've got Dr. Aeon who is sorta-kinda a villain, Bat'Zul, Longbow, etc, but you never really hear about them, and most of the time, you never even SEE them!
I'd like to propose that the devs and the CoH community work together in order to create the newest forces of Arachnos; new villains who will replace the Arbiters and lend the Isles a bit of personality, so we don't have to stare at the same faces as before.
Please; get rid of these faceless people in favor of some character and personality! Give us... People! -
I would support this only on one condition:
THE ABILITY TO TURN IT OFF
It seems like something that could be used to grief people to a mass scale, but with the option, in the options menu, to specifically turn off the Hero-Finder, and NOT turn down normal team invites, I'd be far more supportive. -
Would there be any benefit? Such as not having to visit a trainer to acquire the new power/enhancement slots if you've planned it out?
I'll admit, it might be thematically strange. -
Can we get Weapon Auras first? Weapon Auras would be particularly awesome... As would Wing Auras!

However, there's some additions I'd like to make:
1. You'd be able to toggle the option OFF, in case you don't like combining powers.
2. You'd need to set a primary combiner for your powers. Otherwise, what happens if there's a Burn Patch and Ice Slick in the same place when your Tornado goes through?
3. You'd need to have them limited. Rain of Fire + Rain of Ice = Steam Shower, which also reduces the accuracy aside from dealing good damage. Stone Prison + Ring of Fire = Magma Tomb, which lowers the enemy's resistance to Fire damage aside from dealing additional DoT. You get the idea?
It's good to start out slow, and integrate how you'd work around technical issues. -
I've had to suspend my account due to personal issues; father's passing, mother's surgery, subsequent illnesses, my own surgery, unemployment, you NAME IT.
All in all, I still have my 39 month Vet. Reward. Had I kept it active, I'd have my 60-month by now.
Am I mad? No, because I'm technically 'NOT' a Veteran. I didn't pay for 60 months of time, and shouldn't be able to receive rewards for time not spent playing. -
I work at Safeway, so the Shopping Cart emote seems right up my alley.

Just seeing some people wearing more than plain clothes, looking like they came from the neighborhood in Edward Scissorhands would be fantastic. -
Quote:/Jranger on the sharks.I know that this has been asked for before, but seriously, more non-humanoid enemies would be a big boon.
Heck, you can use the same cylinder skeleton as the jaegers and spiders for things like dogs and big-cats maybe.
I'd also still like to see sharks in the water, and I don't care if they follow me on land...it's a fantasy setting anyway.
I'm sure the community disagrees, but I'm galeophobic, and the image of sharks is enough to make me cringe. You'll have to forgive me if I disagree. -
Quote:Because you have the option to make enemies with 1-2 powers thanks to the new 'Custom' option under Critter Powersets. So if it was superior then why did it have to be nerfed to be inferior rather the closer to on par. See i can get around the lessened drops, since basicly you can earn tickets that come closer to getting real desirable set peices, this helps overcome the money issue also. But i dont see why xp should have to be inferior.
You go on, and on, and on about how all of these things are extremely powerful, but you're clearly talking out of your ***. They're more powerful if you're looking for a challenging arc, but more often than not, they're no stronger than regular mobs, and more often than not, they're weaker. -
Quote:Would you like me to take a picture of my original game box back when Defenders had Fold Space, Katana WAS Broadsword, and the like?Judging by your forum date, you werent even playing the game during Jack's biggest spouts of double speak on issues like ED, GDN, or HamiOs, so you can think its snide all you want, but the old lead designer of this game had a knack for creating situations that he only later made worse by his own double speak in trying to defend.
But thank you for so kindly showing me that you're not going to put effort into things; arguing bia 'I'm a veteran and you're not' always works out well, doesn't it?
Quote:And why would you assume the changes they made only effected farmers? I see next to no one in the AE buildings anymore, be them farmers or standard players. I think that reflects that even a normal playing person doesnt consider the changes to mobs and xp in the AE to be worth their time anylonger.
Quote:When did i ever say that i didnt play for fun. But narrow minded people all seem to think that fun, rewards, xp, etc are all mutally exclusive. Or that if the find running the same TF over and over fun, that everyone should, and if you dont then your only intrested in rewards or farming etc.
"I don't have fun with AE because it doesn't offer enough exp."
You can have your own definition of 'fun', just as someone can who runs the Behemoth farm 478 times and smiles with glee, but in the heart of things, you're STILL earning exp, you're STILL engaging in ALL of the Architect's features, and nothing but personal gain was reduced.
Quote:See i can have fun playing a level 50, i can have fun playing a level 30. But obviously i want to see progression in the character that i play, if its availible to him. Its less so availible to a level 50 because of the cap, but why if i want to level my level 30 character, would i choose a system that not only didnt offer me patrol xp, bonuses, and inluence at the same level as a standard mission, but then also fight tougher enemies for less xp?
Oh, and guess what? There's content OUTSIDE of AE, and with the new Super-Sidekicking and Exemplars receiving exp? Oh, man, you can essentially level 1-50 on Hellions.
Quote:I can imagine people finding fun in different ways, unfortunately you dontseem to be able to. Apparently you feel that if your playing for the purposes to level a character your not playing for fun. Well personally i dontfeel that way.
Quote:At its heart the purpose of the AE was to allow players to make content. And other players to play that content. Now however it would seem the vast majority of players dont play the content. So ask yourself why? Because the rewards arenot on par with standard mission content is really the onlyreason i could think of.
Quote:I mean seriously if all things were equal why would i want to do a standard story arc for the 20th time rather then playing something new. And just as when the AE was in beta we told the devs about how all the ways people were farming and exploiting the system and the devs launched anyway, we also told them that with the proposed changes to the custom critters that hte AE would turn into a ghost town, and it has done so again.
Quote:I have been playing the game for over 5 years, i have played every AT availible, if i didnt find the game fun i wouldnt still beplaying it. That doesnt mean im going to not offer my opinion and crawl up the devs brown-holes when i dont feel they are making good decisions just because they are the devs. And i certianly dont need to hear from some 2 year vet about how i am a farmer or whatever your glitch was because i find fun in different ways then he does. Seriously ohhh you did the ITF 7 times, big whoop, i prob have also. But since it was for fun and not for reward im sure you decided to waste those merits on only buying trap of the hunter IOs right?
But if you'd like to know? If you'd REALLY like to know why there's only 3 years of vet rewards?
It involves a lot of situations: my father passing away, my mother having to undergo extensive surgery, my friend needing help to deal with her unplanned pregnancy, and a whole list of different things that made me look at my subscription and say 'I haven't been playing for awhile, and I'm gonna be busy for awhile' so I cancel it for a period of time.
Quote:Not every minute of my playing time can be spent on a team running TF or other such social things. And when i am playing and friends and such are not availible, then yes my attentions turn to more things like leveling, xp, influence etc. So what, i also find that fun. You have a good time sticking to idea of fun and why not try to not tell other people what they should consider fun or not. -
Quote:All this is fine and good, but doesn't change the fact that the AE is an inferior tool for those who do care about xp/leveling.Quote:* no mission bonus
* less xp from mobs if they are harder than regular mobs
* no patrol xp.
To me that is not only not equivalent but inferior.
And if you REALLY feel that the lack of xp is so very limiting on you? You will ALWAYS have the option to, and follow me here, step back from AE and do developer-made content. Did you know that it gives bonus xp? Like... DOUBLE the experience! And sometimes there's some weird stuff that gives you double THAT!
But seriously? AE can never be equivalent. Do you know why? Because even before the huge exp nerf, it wasn't equivalent; it was SUPERIOR. It gave you rewards that had little to no risk attached to them. If the devs had to make the choice again, I'd hope they do it all again. -
The Super/VillainGroup Pack would need to include a WHOLE ton of stuff.
Because we've had these things since the dawn of time (I6? I7?), and aside from the Veteran Rewards, they've never actually received an update.
I would sell it for $20, and include all of the following:
- Modern Themes
- Lounge Items
- Curves/Slopes
- Ability to make/place water
- Reactionary Items (Computers to access MA, computers to call contacts, and chairs that can be sat in.)
- Oriental Themes
- Neon Signs (With custom-input text) -
Quote:And I think we might have a new winner for the 'Snide Self-Importance' Award.Wow i think we might have a new winner for the Jack Emmert double talk award.
Quote:Ok ill give you that the by definition that "alternative" doesnt require the system to offer equal rewards. But if it offers lesser rewards, it just simply wont be used.
"Why would a farmer care so much about what the devs-- Oohhhh, they stopped him from doing it!"
You see, I play a level 50 character. He's got a decent number of IOs, and the only ones I'm interested in are FAR out of my price range. What reason do I have for playing this toon if I'm not offering rewards?
Oh, that's right: FUN
You see, chum, back when you looked at the AE nerfs as 'OMG THE DEVS SCREWED UP!' I looked at it and said 'Alright, anyone who's using the system for not-exploitative play should have absolutely no problem'. Lo and behold, we have people clamoring that this is unfair, the devs dropped the ball, it's a PR nightmare, and SO much more that I don't care to get into.
You see, people don't ALWAYS play for the Reward. I've done the ITF about 7 times, haven't even attempted the MoITF, either. Why?
Because it's... Can ya' guess? FUN
Imagine that? People can have fun without gaining XP?

While we're at it; Chaos Leather for Boots/Gloves?

I realize that reading this, there's going to be disinterest, scrutiny of the possibility of such an idea, or just downright apathy. Such is life. I'll get over it.
The Arachnos Soldiers and Widows showed us something new and important; they showed us that we could actually have a branching structure in City of Heroes/Villains. We were able to start out as Wolves, and then worked up to Crabs or Banes. That was pretty cool!
I've been mulling this idea in my head around for a long, long time, and I began thinking... We can do this with ATs, why can't we do this with powersets?
Now, what am I talking about? I'll tell you; a prime example:
Staff/Halberd
Now, I know what you're thinking, it's ridiculous! A staff certainly doesn't function as a Halberd due to balance issues, smashing vs. lethal damage that separates them, and so forth. This is why I'd like to suggest the first branching powerset.
How does it work?
The branching powerset would start out with 2-3 powers that could be used with both a Staff AND a Halberd, like hitting them with the blunt end, or even using it to block/reflect damage for a second or two by holding the staff out, and then a third power that acts as a thrust
Then, at around level 6-8, you're given the opportunity to specialize in either Staff, or Halberd.
If you choose Staff, all of your powers will retain normal abilities, and you will have opened 6-7 powers that specialized in staff-like combat. They will generally be more stylish and kung fu-like, but not too long in animation.
If you choose Spear, the Thrust power will gain an added +Lethal damage, making it more of a threat (perhaps changing the power itself from Moderate to High damage?) Think of it as putting an invisible enhancement on the power with a 100% proc to do lethal damage. The Halberd set will consist of 6-7 different powers that are more like a spear, more lethal and grizzly looking, and just pretty awesome to watch.
Now, you might be asking; WHY?! Well, it's simply because a lot of people ask for Halberds, a lot ask for Staffs. I'd been mulling the idea around in my head and decided to go for it.
And if BABs should happen to venture into this thread; yes, I know it would be an animation NIGHTMARE, and the coding would probably be nightmarish as well, but I'd like a review on the concept itself. -
Whenever I see 'Give AE foes more XP' I automatically jump to 'the person suggesting this is a farmer'.
Why? Because AE is something often meant for fun; something to do to break away from the missions of the game in order to have some fun with some user-created content. If you were to ask me, I'd have them give NO exp, and only Architect Tickets. Why? Because to me, it's something to do for fun; it's a minigame in itself.
Again, that's just my perspective. Not that popular, I know. -
I have to agree with Bill.
CoH has so much potential for marketing otherwise. The 'Captain Awesome' videos were a big hit (Touch my Awesome Button!), and it wouldn't take too much work to make a few videos similar to Red vs. Blue... Samurai_Aiko, or whatever her name is, already makes some incredible videos that could bring about more people than we know what to do with in the right way.
In short? I love the game, and I love all of the free expansions/add-ons we're getting, but perhaps some resources should be devoted to Marketing once in awhile? -
I miss me scoop. It gave me so much o' the good stuff to read. D:

The name 'Sigium' came on a whim of the mind.
You see, a long, long time ago, I was a KotOR nut, and loved every minute of it. I don't know how or why, but the names of the Lightsaber modifications popped into my head, particularly the 'Sigil' Crystal.
I didn't want to just have the same name as it, so I made a bit of modifying and made Sigium - Pronounced Si-jum. -
I don't WANT to be playing completely different sets whenever I roll out an MM.
I LIKE Dark Blast being similar to Necromancy, I LIKE Assault Rifle to be similar to Mercenaries, and I LIKE Archery going with Ninjas. You're asking the devs to do unnecessary work that would radically change character concepts. -
Am I the only one who's just HAPPY with this thing?
If you don't want the booster, then don't buy it. There's enough feedback for someone to decide whether or not they want to buy it.
If you bought it 'For the power' but don't like the costumes? Not your problem. To you, the power was apparently worth $10.
I love the costumes associated with this pack. I love it more than any yet, in fact. Not only for the Ninja Run and costume change emotes, but for the costumes themselves. -
Pretty much what the others said about having to transfer templates.
Not to mention, you need to create AT LEAST 9 new models for each setting for this to work at all:
Henchmen, Enhanced Henchmen, Upgraded Henchmen
Secondary, Enhanced Secondary, Upgraded Secondary
Boss, Enhanced Boss, Upgraded Boss
For Thugs/Soldiers:
Alternate Henchmen, Enhanced Henchmen, Upgraded Henchmen.
Let's say you wanted to give ONE alternative costume to each MM set, not counting Demons:
(12x2) + (9x3) = 51ish?
53ish new models that would need to be tested to make sure they work with the set. No major clipping issues, no problematic animation, no nothings.
But if you're going to let me dream, here's what I'd like to see:
Thugs: Default, Women Henchmen, Cyberpunk, Mafia
Mercenaries: Default, Women Henchmen, Agents, etc.
Zombies: Default, Flaming Zombies, Skeletons, Rotting Corpses
Robots: Default, Steampunk, Rusted, Dread Tech (like broken-down-looking)
Ninjas: Default, Women Henchmen, Warriors, Tais, Shadowmen
