Whatever became of the scoop?

I don't recall seeing it in a while, so what happened?

Probably just fell through. Not enough interest or content.

Edit: In before nemesis plot.

Long story short:

New forums broke the formatting.

Changes were planned for an off-site host (and still are).

Snow Globe (editor in chief) became extremely busy with school.

Snow Globe has stepped down due to taking a break from the game.

We still have writers, and other people willing to run things, but we still need time to get the off-site host fully working. Not sure of the timeline, but things are still in motion, and the Scoop will be back eventually.

Allright, cool, just wondering since I kind of miss it.

That is good news. Hope you sort out things soon.

Somebody put it in a the cardboard box that the SSOCSS was in, and then couldn't find it.

Bubbawheat,

Having participated in other projects involving donated time of volunteers, I can advise you to be careful of burnout. With the weekly nature that The Scoop had, I'm frankly surprised and impressed it lasted as long as it did. Consider publishing fortnightly, giving even your most dedicated folks plenty of free time.

Since you'll be on your own site, you can give a blog to anyone who really, really, really wants to write more often than that. Burnout is insidious, slowly shifting an attitude of excitement to one of obligation and even masked resentment. Blogging might help by allowing a volunteer to reduce his blogging rate and still be an integral, happy, member of your regular staff.

Oh, and by the way, I'm just posting this as a member of the Scoop. I don't run anything or make any final decisions, I'm just an article writer. I'm just a little bit closer to the info than most others here.

Use Blogger. It'll be more than enough for the purposes of the Scoop, and it's really flexible on how you present the site. I've used it to host a lot of small sites, from Lansing Model Railroad Club and Etnico to Splasher.

If you want to make the Scoop look more like a printed publication, Scribd is your host. Should be a lot more work to do it that way, though.

Sorry but I'm a skeptic... Scoop is dead until I'm proved wrong.

(but I really, really hope to be proved wrong)

As someone who is actually a part of the Scoop and has access to private Scoop-related discussions, I can say you're wrong.

(Though it may be accurate to say the Scoop is in the hospital)

I left it in the ice cream, and now it's frozen and I don't wanna grab it.
