  1. a jet pack isn't a costume piece though. it is a power. a travel power to be precise that has to be toggled on/off.

i don't care how many smilies you put after this idea, IT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN in any way, shape or form.

How is it that super-heroes from other countries aren't included in the superhero genre? I'm not saying we need the big-eyes effect, but I'm saying that this could help draw in fans of other superhero groupings as well, i.e. the Dino-men/Power-ranger/Kamen-Rider fan types of ages long past(Personally I think they're a bit silly, but that's just me, superheroes in tights performing silly poses are always a bit odd-waaaaaait).

But that's why it would also include a wide variety of hero-oriented material from the genre. Something to make the expansion pack worth the 10 bucks to everyone that looked over it.

Perhaps it might even include a Power Armor secondary powerset for Scrappers/primary for tanks, which would grant two costume slots to start with(the second would be required to use the Armor slots for the chest and legs(And yes, this is a common theme among American superheroes as well)), the first power of the set being "Transform". Several powers in the set could be used to increase damage, increase total HP, speed up healing, all passive(always on) when the Transform power is active, but the transform power would severely reduce the endurance recovery rate, basically increasing your surviveability, but decreasing your long-term battle effectiveness. At higher level(perhaps tier 9), an endurance recovery power could be made available for the transformed set, which would allow you to slot endurance recovery enhancements, granting you the ability to work in battle in a more long term way.
yeah.... NO. costume pieces should have no bearing on gameplay whatsoever.

The reason? Well I play this game as a massive super-hero fan, I'd like to see it stick mostly to it's roots rather than become even more influnenced by other genres (even if they are somewhat related).

The only reason a lot of you are trashing this guy so much is the standard MMO elitist attitude that gets pushed around this much, "We had to walk fifteen miles in the snow to get our 50s only to have them nuked in a patch, so so will you!". It's no wonder that people have been leaving CoH in droves if that's what sort of attitude the community portrays...

To the original poster, I offer this. Powersets are relatively balanced these days, you won't have near as many issues with your powersets now as you might have in the earlier days when this sort of suggestion would have been an incredibly Good idea(i.e. for those of us that rolled fire/fire tanks in Issue 6, only to find out twenty or so levels down the road that they were in fact the WORST classification to play in the game). With a standard in-game respec, you should be able to change the way your character plays in a pretty drastic way, should you want to, given that most individual powersets have enough flexibility in them that you can make a real difference in how you approach things simply by changing a couple powers around. I suggest doing as many respec-granting Trials as you can, if you haven't already, and toying around with your toons until you find a groove that really works for you. Spec yourself out one way with a planner, play with it for a week or two, see how you like it, and if you don't, respec and do it again, until you find that groove that really works for you.

ADDENDUM: Reading over what Tenzhi had to say gave me a thought on this. Perhaps a power-tree replacement respec would be best suited for someone with A: At least 200 badges, or a good lot of defeat badges(grind badges are incredibly tedious, especially when you later find out that you did them on a toon you really don't like playing), B: Having reached at least level 40 on that toon(Plenty of time to try out, respec out a few times, and realize that the build is entirely no fun at all), and a swappable C: The powerset in question has undergone moderate to major changes(changes in endurance cost, damage output, healing output, defense, etc) in at least one major Issue release.

As an additional addendum, the idea of a Reslot isn't a bad one, in my opinion. Perhaps a set of mission trees and trials that specifically grant a Reslot, which, as the name suggests, would allow you to re-slot every power you have currently(naturally, powers would be limited in the number of slots by the number of levels you have had the powers for already, etc). This would work well for folks that like their powers, but don't necessarily want to go through the hellacious trial for getting a single respec, or for those that would like to simply try a different slot configuration before attempting a complete respec.
first off, this is something that comes up often. the devs have said NO. that is it. the reason for the negative attitude is because no one searches this first to find out if it has been suggested and it does get very tiresome seing this come up time and time again.

secondly, this is what TEST server is for. you can copy your toon as many times as you want to it and try out various things with slotting there before making a final build on live.
  8. ah. ok now i'm not confuzzled anymore. i never bothered to learn about those command macro thingies.

  11. i'd imagine that with an all MM team, no matter what your comp specs, it would be laggy as hell especially on the 3rd mission. might even cause people to crash. more so if most of the MM's are thugs and they use gang war at the same time.
  12. my guess is going to be some kind of exploit fix, but these patch notes have been known to take up to a day to show up.

edit: that sounds a lot better then "if you haven't seen them how would we have seen them?"
  13. a really good build to use would have been... can't remember his name right now. started with an A and he was on freedom.
  14. db/dark or db/fire scrapper. i have a db/dark and it seemed to do ok both solo and teaming. and you really only need 5 of the powers from dark so it definately leaves room open for other powers.

    Buffs

Here's my question, why do some tank sets allow for Buffs to accuracy? And how beneficial is it really for a tank to do this.

I am talking about IO slotting specifically.
i think you need to be more clear in the question you are asking. what "tank" sets are you talking about?
  16. you are going to have to go and do a CoHhelper and a hijackthis report and post them here so we can see if it is something with your comp.

yeah but you can only change builds once every 15 mins. and if something like this was implemented i don't see it being on a timer that is shorter then 30 mins. but the build switch already deals with that.

but i still don't see them giving out a vet power that you can't use yourself.
  18. i have to ask, this chance of bleed stuff you keep listing, please do not tell me you are trying to come up with a DoT melee set? not to mention that cutting off of limbs, which would have to happen for this chance of bleed to happen, is not feasible with this game or game engine.

  20. only if you use 2 different pieces in each power. in other words you won't be able to slot 3 of the stun/end or 3 of the stun and so on.

    posted for clarification
  21. what happens when you want to change it? can this be done? and with the several other ways we have of getting around, i don't see this as being any kind of real vet reward. interesting idea, but i don't think it warrants anything really.
  22. the basis of a tank/scrapper/brute/stalker attack is to front load all of the damage due to them being in melee range. they need to kill faster to survive. with DoT damage, you would be wasting attacks trying to make sure that what you were fighting was dead before you were. for ranged at's this is fine because they aren't being attacked as much. for melee at's it would not be.

(Also, unrelatedly, see the edit I made to an earlier post that is pertinent to the discussion of a client-side fix.)
dude, don't talk about me like you know me. i only flip now when the poster shows no sign of listening and only wants people to agree to what they say no matter what. i actually started out being fairly nice in this thread until i was attacked. as was bill.

as i said, i have no problem with them adding a tag or fixing the mouse over. what i have a problem with is people who play the "it's to time consumming, i want to be lazy and not learn card".
  24. or you can do a couple radio missions and the safegaurd and get a new contact that way.
