  2. You -must- be level 10 to slot them but they are attuned to match your level, and the bonus's stick around to level 7 iirc... except the purple versions that act like purples.

  5. With the patchnotes in the beta forums down to wimpy minor fixes I feel its time to start a betting pool for the release date.

    I'm going for the 28th, gives plenty of time for fixes before the double xp weekend on the 16th.

    I've only worked briefly with 3D, including modeling with Blender, Cheetah, and some lower end packages, so i dont think 40 to 50 cylinders should be a big deal.
    I like your idea but there is a number of problems...

    1) If they were to do this they would not cylinders, that is crazy expensive geometry wise and would be a nightmare to animate nicely. The would use 2 planes for each link with a flat texture to give the impression of a 3d chain.

    2) This was brought up when Demon summoning was in dev but they did investigate making a whole set using it and as it turns out its incredibly difficult to animate and make -look right- in the context of the game. Think about it, you need to consider that there is a very high possibility of 8+ people ALL with the same powers trying to use it on the same bady at once. That cuts down the potential animations dramaticly.

    3) Scaling could become a MAJOR issue especially with respect to how the animations could work, imagine someone super huge or small doing these things, they could hit too far away or too close.
  8. So this has been a question for me for some time but I have been trying to work out if one would get comparable mileage out of having moderate defense+resists in 50+% range as one would get if they were softcap'd to either S/L/E/N , Just Melee (or any one position) or even all positions.

    I can't really do math for beans but if I understand the mechanics correctly if you have 32.5% you will be roughly getting hit one in four times, if you have 50% resists to all damage types present in that attack you will only take have half of any damage that manages to get past that defense.. Does that mean its as effective as having 43% defense (where you would be hit only 1 in 8 times)?

    Sorry if this is abit of a confusing post. I have not made a build for a resist set in quite awhile and I am looking at either having S/L at softcap (with E/R being in the 30's) or having a very wide spread of defenses in the 30 range so I can tune more performance into my primary.

    I actually just decided to go for a more ballanced approach, the way the sets are looking and how defensive sweep works, I should be plenty fine. And I took all but taunt as far as TW goes
  10. Once you get a nice spread of attacks its not too bad.
    edit: Though it really is the one -major- sticking points when deciding between brutes and scappers.. The only reason I went brute is because Ele is abit stronger on it.

    Well I have allready done quite abit of testing and even on SO's end is a non-issue with /ele, energize is being utilized more as a heal then a end restore.
    The only reason I worry at all is making sure to have a insp around is still a chance-y way to do things.
  12. Alright so the exciting new set is out, mids is not updated yet... Bummer but anyway how should I take this set wise, what defenses should I aim for? I have already played things abit, both with duel blades and Battle ax being the substitutes but I am still not totally settled on what I can effectively aim for.
    My current build in mind has defenses spread out nice and evenly, 30-35% across the board with the lethal/melee bonus defense from sweep rounding out things and relying on /ele's 90% energy resistance to take care of most of the rest of everything but I worry this may not be as optimal as taking the offensive performance hit and getting s/l/e/n to/near softcap, thoughts guys?

    Its god mode is Dark regeneration, it can go from 1 hp to full with only 2 enemies hit and even if you somehow manage to die the rez in dark armor can stun AV's and don't forget it has some of the highest potential resists to PSI damage (somewhere around 65% for scrappers) Its not over powered but balanced exceedingly well for SO's if you consider IO's you can fairly easily softcap ALL positions and become as close to invincible as set can hope to be with absolutely NO downsides.

    If you think its awesome now wait untill level 50 when you can chain together a bunch of momentum bumped AOE's.

  15. Its just part of the quirks of the set, if you think about it its actually nice that they spread around the resists more given how uncommon neg en damage is most of the time. In trade you get one of the most powerful heals in the game and a stun/terrorize aura and stealth.

    Oh, one of the things they did say was they want the new slots to do more than pump stats (though they do know players like those too), so they'll be more along the lines of letting you do things you weren't able to do before. I don't remember if they gave an example of what that meant though.

    The impression I got was that they are working several ideas and weren't able to put a release date on anything until they have a more concrete concept of what they want (and what the players will like).
