Alright so the exciting new set is out, mids is not updated yet... Bummer but anyway how should I take this set wise, what defenses should I aim for? I have already played things abit, both with duel blades and Battle ax being the substitutes but I am still not totally settled on what I can effectively aim for.
My current build in mind has defenses spread out nice and evenly, 30-35% across the board with the lethal/melee bonus defense from sweep rounding out things and relying on /ele's 90% energy resistance to take care of most of the rest of everything but I worry this may not be as optimal as taking the offensive performance hit and getting s/l/e/n to/near softcap, thoughts guys?

D: Toss me a hai @DarkNat My Fify glory: Renzer Dark/Dark Corr., Renzro Dark/Dark Def., Amartasu Dark/Dark Scrap.Less important ones: Fire/Fire Blaster,Ice/Ice Blaster,Ele/Ele Brute, Mind/Storm Troll,Fire/Kin Corr.,Bots/FF MM., DB/Regen Scrap.

I'd say get at least 32.5% s/l defense and then work on getting energize perma. Chasing melee and range defense is also an option with the T1 attack giving melee defense.

SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)

Well I have allready done quite abit of testing and even on SO's end is a non-issue with /ele, energize is being utilized more as a heal then a end restore.
The only reason I worry at all is making sure to have a insp around is still a chance-y way to do things.

My Tw/Elec (lvl 42 now) will have 45% S/L defense and perma energize.

Also I wouldn't really use Defensive Sweep, take Crushing Blow instead so you have another attack that you can slot Kinetic Combats in it. I couldn't find a way to get 45% S/L without having crushing blow for another KC set mule.

I actually just decided to go for a more ballanced approach, the way the sets are looking and how defensive sweep works, I should be plenty fine. And I took all but taunt as far as TW goes

I would aim for getting ranged and AoE defense and letting Defensive Sweep take care of melee. Smashing defense by itself isn't that useful, and you can't find just lethal defense in sets. My goal is to get either soft-capped to M/R/A or to 32.5 and still have perma-hasten/energize on my TW/Elec.

TW/Elec Optimization

How many sets (KC X 4 I guess) of Kinetic Combats did you have to use to achieve 45%? I am wanting to skip crushing blow.

Also, did you have to take the Body epic pool to mitigate END issues?

I have a TW/Elec brute and just started it. I need MIDS!

That may be a wild guess but I think he might have taken Power Sink

Anyway you can have close to 18% def to all with weave, CJ, maneuvers and the two def uniques.

5 sets of kin combats = 18.75 so let's say 36.5% s/l, the rest you make up by finding some more s/l def set bonuses (im Mids menu - Window - Set Bonus Finder). Reactive Armors in your resist shields and one of the taunt sets in Taunt or even Power Sink for example. Two rectified retiles in Build Momentum / Tactics also give you some s/l, and if you must, the melee def sets give half the value in s/l def.

TW having only 3 ST attacks (iirc, didn't buy the set, but tested it on beta) you may want to mule boxing/brawl with KCs tho.

Yes, I will often squeeze out some more S/L with Melee bonuses. 6 slot Obliteration is a favorite of mine. Since you are filling all your melee attacks with KC, you generally aren't close to cap on 5% recharge so you get two good benefits from Obliteration. Only downside to Oblit is that it's low on end reduction.

Crushing Blow is absolutely worth taking, it is very helpful for your ST dmg attack chain.
I took superior conditioning to increase my recovery and increase the maximum amount of end gainable with power sink; the more recovery/end I have the less often I have to use power sink, the higher my dps goes.

Here is my build for reference, pulls about 270 dps single target and can farm close to the speed of an ss/fire (but ss/fire is still faster)

Incarnates will be Spiritual/Reactive/Rebirth

I'm considering picking up Cardiac or Ageless for soloing stuff though.
