In general though, I'm pretty lazy when it comes to the market, simply because I don't enjoy doing it that much. It's a means to an end for me. I like being able to put a 500 million or so towards every alt I play in set IOs and I like purpling my favorite 50s. Playing the market is the easiest way to do that, and it's why I've got 10 or 15 billion sitting around. But I don't need any more than that really. I know how to make more when I need it. And I'd rather play the game than the markets.
Pretty much this. My PC died right around Christmas, so I haven't been around much.

Like most, I can make inf easily when I need it, over a fairly short amount of time. I've never really had the urge or need to stockpile inf. I've got a lot merits that I could roll or cash in, but really, they're easier to carry around than shuffling inf through market storage, email, etc.

To be honest, I'm doubtful there's many people at all that have played it, so you shouldn't feel too bad about missing out on it.
Much appreciated. The name sounds vaguely familiar. Probably due to the "All your base" bit. I've never really kept up w/ memes too much, but some are all but impossible to avoid.
  5. I'm a little rusty on my 'old school' games. Anyone care share what that's from? I don't remember ever playing it.

You have the option of the armor in Ice Mastery, which you don't have right now, to give you a good chunck of the S/L and Thunderstrikes are great in those ranged attacks for the E/N. You said you've got cash to spend so Kinetic Combats might not be out of your range of possibilities.
I hopped onto test and tried out Ice Armor in place of Hibernate. Definitely a keeper. I mostly avoided it due to the graphics, but considering I'm mostly invisible the majority of the time it's a pretty lame excuse. Valid point on Kinetic Combats, except I don't have any melee attacks.

If reaching that cap is important to you, by all means spend the slot, but I think the second one isn't really giving you anything. (Again, stuck at work so can't give you concrete numbers) As a small tweak, I'd take out one of the slots in Super Jump and add a 6th to EQ and place the Achilles' -RES Proc in there. More -Res is never a bad thing.
I just had extra slots and threw the BotZ's in SJ and CJ for the ranged def bonus. I hadn't considered another Achilles' process, since I have one in Sleet. May consider that.

All told I've gained a bit over 25% S/L and now have just over 31% Ranged Def. Just from swapping into Ice Shield and moving a few slots. I don't think I'm willing to give up recharge to gain more defense right now, especially with all the -recharge flying around with Praetorian Clockwork.
  9. Hello fellow Doms. I've been playing my Earth/Fire/Ice Dom since the intro of GR. He was my first Praetorian and quickly became my main. I love the combination of control, damage, and de-buff he carries. I've built him primarily to be perma-dom for as much content as possible, which was pretty easy thanks to HVM's. (Makes those lvl 25 LotG's cake to get.)

I play him exclusively at range, hence the lack of Incinerate or Combustion. This has led me to a secondary goal of ranged defense. I've managed to get him to 28.3% to ranged when stealth suppresses. I feel like I'm probably missing something obvious due to staring at it for too long. Does anyone see something obvious that I'm missing that could shore up my Ranged Defense a bit more? Or other obvious suggestions that I may be missing?

I feel like he plays wonderfully currently, but there's always room for improvement. Especially with i20 and the trials on the horizon. I've got a couple billion to play with, so I guess I could get into PvP IOs, but I've never really delved into them before. (Mostly due to i13pvp, but that's for another thread in another section.)

Seeing Earthquake slotted with Dark Watcher's may seem odd, but I had a few extra slots and liked the extra recharge and damage boost. It also boosts the nice -tohit in EQ.

    Thanks in advance.

This pretty much sums it up. But mostly I just miss how much fun my stormie used to be. Now the toon is worthless.
  11. I've got an Earth/Fire and a Mind/Fire both at 50. Several more in the 40's. I've spent the majority of the last 3 years of my playtime messing with Doms in varying capacities. My favorite by far has been my Earth/Fire/Ice. He really has something for every situation. Great control, great damage, debuffs and dull pain (Hoarfrost).

He's the only toon I've loved enough to 'do the right way.' Perma-Dom down to lvl 22 and a small purple insp from soft capped defense. Tack on perma-hasten at higher levels and the level shift from a rare alpha for even more awesomeness.

The best part is he's still awesome with just SO's because so many powers in earth control are pseudo pets.

Now if only they'd give us Illusion...

    I took both!
  13. On my E/F/F I took Incinerate leveling up and ultimately dropped it since it was my only melee attack. If you want to go all ranged I'd still recommend taking it until you've got Blaze. I didn't take it when I leveled my Mind/Fire and couldn't believe how much faster my Earth/Fire leveled with it. It really is that good.

I didn't take Combustion (stand here for 3 seconds for crappy damage) or Consume (forever long recharge until well slotted).

Other than that you can't really mess up Earth/Fire unless you use Cages on Earthquake... Don't be that guy.
  14. I don't have Mids in front of me at the moment, but off the top of my head I see a few things.

Take Earthquake at 18 and put 3 Recharges in it. It's a defining power and it's very valuable, especially on teams. Push back Aid Self to get it. You may find that you don't need Aid Self, since you'll have plenty of controls and Stony.

I personally prefer Stone Prison to Stone Cages. Doms don't need Cages for containment and they cancel out Earthquake. Prison also takes the immob set (obviously) and can be used to immob AVs.

It's been a while since I've rolled a /psy, but you'll probably want to slot Subdue with damage rather than an immob set.

Why no Psy Tornado? It's a solid AoE, which you'll want if you're farming. And since you're running Perma you won't need the mez protection from Indom. Will.

    Hope this helps.
  15. Maybe give a build a shot in Mids just to give us an idea what you're going for? Ultimately you'll give us a better idea of what you're going for, and you might learn a few things or find some ideas.

Having us give you a build doesn't guarantee that you'll be happy with it, because we build for our playstyles which may not mesh.

This is so true. I love Pistols, but it's just not as good as it looks. Go Archery, slot RoA and never look back.
  17. Well, I'd typed a nice long post explaining why Earth/Fire is my favorite Dom, but the forum ate it, so we'll try a shorter version.

I've run 7+ doms of various combinations into the 40's or higher and Earth/Fire has become my favorite by far. Earth control doesn't benefit from domination as much as other sets, but it also doesn't need it. Volcanic Gasses, Earthquake and Quicksand are awesome. I didn't even take Stone Cages, but I rarely take the AoE Immob on Doms. Fire has the damage and AoE to take advantage of the lockdown and safety that Earth provides. Adding Rain of Fire and Fireball, just made the toon go over the top into OMGBBQ land, and it's become my first choice for anything that I can bring it to.

I'll probably end up perma'ing the toon, not because I feel it needs it, just because I want my earth controls up as often as possible and eventually I'll hit perma 'by accident.'
  18. Except that the proc works regardless of if you have Swap Ammo or not. So you can have your cake and eat it too, as it were. So take Swap Ammo, Load Fire, Slot Achilles' and enjoy.

    Personal Feedback:

Just curious: What's your area of study?

As a person interested in market research I read questionnaires with a different viewpoint than a lot of people. Several questions are highly subjective in meaning, and others come across as leading. By the end I really started to feel like there was a bias toward games being too violent and too easy to acquire.

You may want to consider if/how your chosen wording may affect your results when you finalize them. You may want to consider rewording them to be more neutral and less subjective in meaning if you have time and haven't gotten too far in. (Not sure how far you've gotten into data collection. I know that it's non-trivial to reformat a questionnaire and start over.) It will help you get valid results on which you can base your arguments. It will also look better when you defend it.

Just my 2 pence. Good luck with the dissertation.
  20. All of these numbers can be found in-game. Right-click the power, Select Info, Detailed Info. Will give you the numbers/effects of each ammo type on that power.
  21. It will work regardless of what ammo type you have selected.
  22. I wish they had added some sort of pop-up if you try to select DP that tells the user that GR is required to access the power set. Would have averted a lot of questions, and also been a small "you know you want it, just buy it" tidbit as well.

That said, as a graduate marketing student, I wonder what's with the people controlling the flow of information. By all means, build up excitement, generate buzz, but stop confusing people with overly complicated release plans and a lack of direct information.
  23. They really need to find a use for those. They're so cool, but very few people even know they exist.
  24. I'd really like something like this:

It looks powerful, but has a sleek, retro-high-tech look.

Another example is the already mentioned gun from Blade Runner.
  25. Sad, could have been Ebil on both sides with one character.

I really hope the option is there. It would add a new dynamic, and I could see a fun opportunity to rejuvenate the red side market (for profit, of course).

I doubt we'll know much more than we do on specifics before beta arrives.
