Also, if you are making a farm that does not employ some sort of exploit that increases your reward to risk factor, then you are a piss poor farmer who will probably not get much attention (or ratings) on your map. This is why the farmer/exploiter argument is ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I guess it would depend on your definition of exploit then.

By stacking a map with mobs that deal damage that your farmer is highly resistant to would actually lower the risk factor in comparison to the rewards. My opinion on that case, you are not exploiting things like the meow farm was. As you can more than likely find similar mobs in Dev created content that you can turn into a farm as well.
  2. You should check out the bronze rolls for the 30-34 range then.. I've gotten countless Kharma's and Steadfast -kb's from those. Its not a sure thing, but hey you might get something else you need from those rolls as well. I've built most of my Crushing Impact sets this way.

Yeah I just use that winters gift IO in superspeed for my slow resists. I wish they would add a little S/L resist to temp protection to make it actually worth taking. Even at 20% slow resist its still a pretty weak pick IMO.

Heh looking at all these SS/Fires makes me think of ice cream. Lots of different flavors, but all are delicious. Now if we could only keep the ice cream from melting... tough to do in a burn patch.

Back on target, Slow resists are actually pretty useful for a heavy recharge SS/Fire build, because -rech really messes up all the hard work you did to get the build to high rech in the first place. I might jump on test and respec into temp protection and see how it works in conjunction with the winters gift for a full 40% resist to slow.

Then time to pick on a herd of fortunatas/tarantulas to see how well the resists hold up.

Not something I deem needed, but might be interesting to see if it makes a noticable difference.

    [/ QUOTE ]

A Good SS/FA knows what it will be facing and doesn't fight crap that can slow. Or Nullifiers.

I'll pay 5m to see a vid of an ss/fa Farming Longbow Nullifiers.. ALONE. without inspirations.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I used to farm Longbow (PvP missions as I had/have all contacts finished) on my SM/FA brute. That was before the Healing Flames buff even.. Wasn't pretty.. but it was doable. Just had to take out the Spec-Ops before they did their end drain BS back then.

Good point on Temp Protection, it makes a good IO mule, but still skippable on a tight build.

Another thing I do with my /fire brutes is pick up kick instead of boxing. 4 slot Kinetic Crash for some real cheap -kb

    [/ QUOTE ]

Meh.. 1 slot for -kb vs 4 slots can be tough in a tight build.

Personally I use Boxing as a stun set mule if I have the slots. Either 5 slot it with Stupefy or 2 slot it with Stupefy or Rope-a-Dope depending on if you want +recovery or +regen.

And thats not even touching Absolute Amazement. (as my builds don't use purples)
  5. If you have an empty power selection you can grab Temp Protection and use it for a Steadfast -kb. I think I also have a Imp. Armor Psi Resist in mine as well.

It's not as bad now since they added -slow resistance to it. But thats my opinion while using it with SM not SS.

Printscreen copies the entire screen at the same time as the screenshot is made. No Alt is needed. They DO let us use a different key for taking screenshots. You can change it in Options/Keymapping, or manually /bind it yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You very much did not understand me.

    1) Printscreen copies the actual screenshot contents to your clipboard. This means that if you have UI off, you get a screenshot with no UI in your clipboard. Even if you have UI off and you use alt-printscreen, then you get your screen with full UI on the clipboard, regardless of whether you have /screenshotui on or off.

    2) You cannot bind one key to UI screenshots and another key to non-UI screenshots. You can only bind one key to screenshots and another to controlling whether the first key's screenshots include the UI or not. The two are not the same. In particular, having two distinct screenshot style keys avoids the problem of not knowing what UI capture state you are currently in when you take a screenshot (as does my alt-printscreen trick).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I understood you perfectly.

1> When I press Printscreen, a no-UI version gets saved to my screenshots folder, and a dump of everything on the screen - game, UI, title bar with [_][o][X] in the corner, and Start Menu/Task bar - gets copied to the OS clipboard, ready to be pasted into MS Paint. I do it all the time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Maybe it only works that way when you play windowed mode? I play in windowed mode and get the full ui in my clipboard. /shrug
  7. When you take a normal screenshot the exact same screenshot with the UI is copied to your clipboard. Open up Pain/<insert your image editor> and you should be able to paste it in no problem.

Theres also a setting in the options to toggle the UI on/off for screenshots as well.

What I usually do is I keep Advanced Totals up. If you look at it with 1 Health in there the time it takes to go from 0 to 100% health is 120 seconds. If you 3 slot it with Health it'll still take 120 seconds to go from 0 to 100. Just mouse over the Regeneration bar.

With a WP that depends on +Regen, or a toon with a lot of +Regen bonusses it might be worth 3 slotting. People usually use it for the Numina and Miracle Uniques but you don't need it with this guy since you have Powersink.

Regarding the blessing of the Zephyr, yes it'll work in any travel power even when it's not toggled on (SS, CJ, SJ, Hover, Fly) but won't work in sprint or swift.

EDIT: Oh and one more thing, just run task forces with him. You don't have to farm them but if you're active again and you have a toon you like playing, run task forces. You'll load up on merits pretty quick.

200 merits from task forces will get you a LOTG Unique. It's easier than it sounds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sadly.. I've seen 1 advertised TF on my server since coming back. I almost wish I stayed on Virtue back at release.. almost..
  9. I keep seeing people mention you don't need 3 slots in Health. What changed? Are 2 slots too much for an extra 23% regen now? I have debated on trying for the healing uniques and tossing them in there later on.

Thanks for the tip on the Zephyr Knockback, did not know about that set. It is safe to assume that will work in powers even when the power isn't toggled on? (say like.. Super Jump?) My other Brute has his -KB IO's in CJ and Temp Protection.

Those that have responded have given me some good ideas and I'm working on things from there. This being an old brute... he missed out of merits. That's gonna mean alot of farming.. merit and/or ticket wise.

    Thanks
  10. Version 2
    Dropped:
Web Envelope, Focused Accuracy, Recall Friend
Added: Stimulant (for helping the Corruptor), Aid Self, Weave
Also changed some slots around.. I'm still iffy on the slots in Boxing though. The recharge set bonus is nice but not sure if I could get away with moving more around again.

  11. Well.. things have changed alot since I last played and worked on the character. It is funny you mention the kismet unique, as it dropped last night for my Stalker.

I'll look over it. I imagined this build would have survived better though. I'd hate to hear the responses to the build my SM/FA uses.
  12. I could.. but then I wouldn't get FA which is why I went for Mace Mastery to begin with. Even then I would more than likely be force to take tough at 49 (as taking Aid Self there would only allow 4 slots max) which means I might as well not even take the power to begin with. imho of course.
  13. Ok here's the build I've been working on for the last few nights. I made this Brute over a year ago and got him to 40 before I took a break, now I'm trying to salvage him since the EM changes.

I'm kinda on the fence between Tough vs Aid Self. This character always has a Sonic/Therm Corr following him around for healing. Plus I can rarely if ever get Aid Self off even with 2 interrupt redux.

I kinda focused on getting all of my resists into the 40% or higher range without using Power Surge. (save toxic of course) My last power selection is a throw away because of slotting issues. Anyway, I'm looking for some thoughts on it.

  14. I picked up a couple bad Pool C drops last night on my Stalker.
    Touch of Lady Gray: Rech/End

I like your idea but I fear it could somehow result in the devs changing things believing it.

How about rather than refuting them with facts we just answer them with "You're wrong" or "No it isn't"?

I'd be careful with that. Otherwise you might end up like This Guy.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

    4. The market brought spam. IOs are partially responsible, but I'm sure playing the market makes a great way to generate Inf for gold sellers to farm up and sell. The market was ready-made for gold sellers, really.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just want to debunk this one. I had gotten inf seller spam prior to the market/invention systems being added into the game. I want to say around Issue 4 or so. They were around back then despite there being no real need for it. Sure the Invention and Market systems helped to increase the amount of spam, but they were not the cause of it.

And as a little FYI... As soon as an MMO goes live there will be gold spammers. Case in point: WAR (Warhammer Online) wasn't even out a week before the gold spammers started. There wasn't even a real economy created yet (everyone leveling up and nothing to spend money on outside of starting a guild) yet there they were spamming away. You can't get away from it, you just have to use the Dev-created tools to ignore/report and go about your business.

But yeah.. Gold/Inf spammers are not an ill brought about the Market and/or the Marketeers.
  17. My first (and currently only 50) is my Brute. Started around Thanksgiving 2005 got him to 40 before Issue 7 while playing on and off. I was around lvl 47 when Issue 10 came out. (I played a Scrapper from 1-39 during Issue 8. Missed Issue 9 completely) I ended up dinging 50 after completing the Riders mission of LGTF. Was a nice surprise since I face planted alot that mission.

I also have a Blaster I rolled on Day 1 (maybe 2) of release. (Non-preorder) I think I stalled out around lvl 18 back then as I recall hovering above Family spawns in Steel Canyon or Prisoners in Brickstown to level as I ran out of contacts. I've played on and off since then and he's parked at 35. Might dust him off for Going Rogue though.

I'm currently working on dual-boxing a Brute and Corr to 50 which I'll hopefully be finished with shortly.

    EM/FA

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I suspect it would be very good, specialy for ST, wich is what you want.

EM is still very good, unless you obsolutly want to be the "omg bestest set evah!!!" or saw your favorite character get nerfed.

Fire doesn't really have problems with alpha. It have good resistance and if you use the heal just after it, you'll be full again. By then, your team should have helped you. ( if you're trying to solo a 8 man team alone.... it's obvious that a ST character would have problem =P )

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thing is SM pumps out far more ST DPS than EM does now AND a SM/Fire can happily solo mobs spawned for 8 with the awesomeness of fault and the "not too bad for an aoe" of tremor.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can also take the Mu Patron Pool to combine with Burn and Fault.. if you really wanted to take out groups as SM/FA.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
That's odd... wiki has a break down of what the silver rolls are, but not bronze or gold. That's from clicking the links directly from the Ticket page they have for AE. I wonder why silver is listed, but not the more commonly used bronze, or even gold?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Someone hasn't gotten around to making/copying the tables?
  21. [ QUOTE ]
The reason is probably because they recently triple billed everyone for the magic pack (because of web page problems) and got a lot of complaints and had to give out a lot of refunds.

You should however be able to buy 2 items at once.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can be double billed for your normal subscription if you change/update something as well.. I just went through that the other week.
  22. This makes me wonder if I ran into any of you devs in DAoC.. Any of you former Tristan players by chance? Used to go by Malvos, Valmos, or Davenrue there...
