  1. It was also posted in the announcements section of the forum: link
  2. When you say "accounts that do not have any additional purchased slots" do you mean accounts that would only get the base 2 global unlocks, and that those are being auto-assigned to servers?

Or do you mean accounts that never purchased slots, but gained slots through Going Rogue and veteran rewards?

This was done on the beta server, so I don't know if they also did that for the live hardware. There are two different things going on:

    1. New instances spawn even if the zone isn't full; the lower threshold is probably something more like "66% full instead of 80% full".
    2. "Most zones" suggests they can set up each zone for a different cap.

The reason this is important for Atlas Park is the new phasing missions keep more players in the zone and doing more than just running around.
  4. Someone should start forming generic "sewer teams" to run through the sewer network.

Just to make things even more confusing.

  6. Clearing my browser cache worked.

  7. In Chrome 14 I have JavaScript enabled for all sites, yet I cannot expand the sections for the website navigation.

    It works in IE9.

Addendum: I do have Flashblock, but disabling it and restarting the browser did not make the navigation work.
  8. I was on team 2 of a league that took out the Seed of Hamidon and I did not receive the Germinator Terminator badge, but I did receive the XP-boosting power. Earlier I had received the badge for defeating one of each type of Seedling, and I did to damage to the Seed itself before it died.

People on team 1 received the badge.

It was predicted that those on team 2 would not receive the badge. I don't know if that's just a coincidence or if leagues actually do create problems for the reward, but it's all I can think of to mention.

  10. This thread has turned into Wil Wheaton's campfire story from Stand By Me!

I've always wanted a reason to make that reference.
  11. I, too, would like more voice-overs. You can turn them off if you don't like them, so don't deny me more voice-overs!

You don't need to use the subscription model to consistently get money out of a player, and even a VIP banking their points for going Premium can't replace their subscription unless they have very narrow interests - and even then, they're going to run out of points eventually. Even if they don't re-sub when that happens, they will have spent money on the game at some time and contributed to the player base.

I think the store could sell 30-day licenses to access each trial. A player could buy a Keyes license to see what it's like; or a former subscriber might come back and drop $2 to see a new trial that just came out, and they're not yet sure there's enough new stuff to warrant subscribing. Premiums could be limited to only using Incarnate powers during trials, so they get much less utility out of them than subscribers - but they still get to play with them, like a video game console in a department store, the ultimate goal being "Mommy will you buy this for me?" (Except most of us probably have the ability to buy stuff for ourselves, of course!)

Although that doesn't address the issue that Incarnates are beyond the sight of Premiums without getting them to pay first, but that can be addressed without negating the value of a subscription, too: a Free or Premium account could get a voucher on their first 50 that grants them a 30-day BAF+Lambda license. An Incarnate Trial trial, if you will. What would be wrong with that?

Edit: And now after posting I see you've made another reply about license-based Incarnates. Curses!
  13. The Hive is still level-gated and you can run through it as long as you're the appropriate level.

I still try to just walk through the hazard zone doors. I usually have to furrow my brows a moment before remembering "oh, I have to click the guy". And then because I'm right up against the barrier I either have to back away or play with the camera angle in order to find something to click.

And then I don't go to a hazard zone again until I'm working on a new character, by which point I've forgotten and the cycle repeats.

So that to me makes me feel that Incarnates were not a feature of Going Rogue....
You've overlooked an important detail: any version of the prepurchase page from before March 26th can't mention Incarnates, because PAX East hadn't happened yet. It wasn't until the last week of March that the Incarnate sneak peek was revealed. At the very least this means anyone who prepurchased prior to PAX couldn't have done so believing they'd get Incarnates.

However, even the April version of the prepurchase page does not mention Incarnates (nothing on the site - even official PAX reporting - mentioned Incarnates). If they never updated the site designed to promote Going Rogue, then the odds are very much against the NCSoft store page being updated. If the promotional site didn't get an update, then my mind would be blown that the publishers updated a product page.
  15. This issue has been partially addressed, and I've updated my opening post to acknowledge this. If a mod has the time, feel free to give the thread a less imperative title like "Bundle Descriptions".
  16. When I buy a costume piece while editing an AE critter's costume I have to exit the editor and bring it back up. Otherwise it will say that there's invalid costume data if I try to use the piece I just bought (but of course, it doesn't say which piece is causing problems). A warning about needing to close and reopen the editor would be nice, as I suspect not everyone will realize what the offending piece is or what they need to do.

It also does this with IDF parts; I have them because I'm a VIP, but I see they're also in the store, so I wonder if AE doesn't recognize them as purchased unless I buy them. (I also wonder if I'll be unable to edit costumes with IDF parts should my subscription lapse.)
  17. 87 / 12 = 7 years
    87 / 3 = 29
Box = 1 (only one box is counted)
    Account = 1

That should be a total of 38. You're definitely missing tokens, but I'm curious as to how you thought you should get 40.

Addendum: Your account join date says mid-2006. Were you ever in the past manually granted vet rewards from your previous account? (Or, did your account need to be manually awarded rewards after the transfer you speak of?)
  18. Considering that one of the few things the new tutorial does teach is that enemies can be targeted with tab, it seems like it'll frustrate new players by having it end with a fight against something that can't be targeted with tab.

Additionally, you can't target other players that are near it. Hovering over them will target the giant shivan. If you don't team up with them then you can't buff them.

I suspect that its hitbox is larger than the screen, and thus "out of range" of tab (as well as overlapping players who go near it). But that's just guesswork on my part.
  19. Think of it like CoH currency. We can convert Time Merits into either Forum Time Merits or Game Time Merits. Therefore spending Forum Time Merits has an opportunity cost of Game Time Merits as they're both broken down from the same master currency (Time Merits).

Soon Game Time Merits will further break up into new currencies such as Store Time Merits. Oh, I did not want to go there...

(Note: I don't mind currencies, although I know the reputation they have around here. My intention was amusement.)

    Clankets?!

I created a character in a High-Collar cloak (baby-blue of course!) and white/baby-blue tights. I think it came pretty close to looking like the Clanket. At the very least, it looks kind of like pajamas.

Of all the things to be inspired by.

  22. It's weird seeing Outbreak NPCs with the new contact coin above their heads.

I only made one character parked there, so I'm not going to complete the tutorial on him. I wonder how many characters across all the servers are parked in Outbreak?

Do all available contacts do that? If so, that would explain why I clicked away a billion pop-ups when I logged in some of my older characters. My new characters still haven't passed level 10, so I don't think they've received many introductions. When an introduction happens in the middle of a mission you're kind of too busy to take note of who it is, anyways.

I prefer passive systems to active systems, too. Both the coins and the pop-ups should have the option to be disabled.

If it's not your argument then you didn't need to be the first member of the forum populace to bring it up, proliferating its message to this thread. The question wasn't "Why do we have floating coins?" but simply "Can we turn them off?"

There's a difference between finding contacts you've been introduced to, and spotting the coin over an NPC you never talked to before because you'd never been instructed to go speak with them.

Using the wiki, asking other players, browsing the contact list, that's all an active search for a different contact. Saying you've never heard someone complain about difficulty finding contacts is like saying you've never heard someone complain about difficulty finding Green River soda - if people aren't aware they're missing out on something then they don't know they have a problem. Now contacts advertise their existence without bringing up extra windows - I can run past them and go, "Oh! I don't remember talking to them before! I wonder what they've got?"

Now you're gonna be wondering what Green River is, and where you can find it. Pity those stores don't have coins floating over the door.

I understand that some players desire "immersion". I don't understand why it's assumed that I'm in some way deficient just because I don't mind if my game looks like a game. I rather like that there's a clear visual cue that an NPC is a contact, even if they haven't been set as my map pin by another NPC. I hope that they'll clue me in to contacts that I never spoke to before and thus never knew were contacts.

Options are key to satisfying a broad range of customers. I agree that an option should exist to turn them off, but you don't have to make claims about the mental health of other players to make your point.
